- Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest for the game boy advance. I used to play this off an on when we would go on holidays, or a long trip. I loved the sailing in this game it felt like such a big game as a kid. Still is a decent size game especially
on the gba. I should mention that I am terrible at gameboy games, and I may or may not have used a cheat code near the end of the game out of frustration. Anyways I hope you enjoy this longplay.

This was the OG Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
Playing black flag for my first time and this is what brought me to the video hahaha
everyone talks about the ship combat and stuff in the Assassin Creed games now but no one ever mentions that this game did it all first years agoooo. I remember playing this game a lot as a kid and when I got black flag it reminded me a lot of it
I use to spend the majority of my time playing this game sailing the sea. Looking for ships to plunder and destroy. Good times. And yeah black flag reminded me alot of this game too.
Sad to say, this game didn't really pioneer this kind of naval combat.
Akella made a Pirates of the Caribbean spinoff game in 2003 that had sort of similar naval combat. They've also made multiple pirate games, all improving on its first, base concept.
Sid Meier's Pirates definitely had something similar to this back in 2004.
What I will say however is that this game is definitely the first to have done it on gameboy, and they did it well! Which is quite amazing considering all the limitations on that little handheld console.
The random ships you can encounter as well as the ability to explore a semi “open world” of different islands made this one stand out among the many games I had growing up. Yes a lot of the enemies were just different painted versions of the 10 or so enemies in the game......I don’t care.....it was fun :3

@@zombiedemon1762 our lives are but fragile mirrors....sometimes looking at these videos can take us back to when we were younger. They bring us back and that is why the feeling of nostalgia is so warming and wonderful

Played this years ago when I was around 7 and now Im 22 and I can say it really has a lot of similarities to AC Odyssey. From going island to island, upgrading your weapons and health, your ship, the naval battles and ship looting and stuff, it’s basically the gameboy version of AC odyssey. And what a coincidence that I also love ac odyseey at this time.
I know this is a year old, but I'd argue it's more like AC4 Black Flag
@@autumnbreeze7234 odyssey adapted the naval wars of black flag also tho I think black flag exhibits a more accurate depiction of how naval wars look like before. Those to AC games also have a lot of similarities

Thats probably the only good type of GBA system other than a DS lite or DS XL. Good times that makes me realize how much i need a real time machine. Why don't handhold systems still fold like that and have good games like that? I feel like gaming is dying.

Loved this game when I was a kid, but looking back the ending is pretty strange since it doesn't show Jack's death. You kill the Kraken and Davy Jones just kinda...gives up?

Not really metroidvania, the individual levels are pretty linear without much exploration
