- Do you think that Chinese New Year is just that one day? No! It actually lasts 15 days and you’re supposed to do certain things beforehand to prepare for the New Year. Lunar New Year for 2022 is on February 1st. I’m going to go through what you’re supposed to do each day leading up to and during Chinese New Year.

Congratulations for the new baby!!
Thank you!
In Malaysia, the Hokkien community celebrate the 9th day. 拜天公. Sugarcane is tied to house gates. On some years, there is more firecracker action when midnight strikes on 年初九 than 大年初一.
Chinese New Year is such a wonderful holiday and I’m so glad it’s becoming more well known in the US. We desperately need a mid winter celebration for the lingering cold days (yes there’s Valentine’s Day but that’s more for couples and less about togetherness). I love Chinese culture and I hope to respectfully integrate this into my family’s life. Not a bastardization like cinco de mayo, but a chance to learn and enjoy.
What about that fun but weird holiday, Groundhog Day? Gobbler’s Knob, Pennsylvania is quite the party! 😂
Happy Chinese New Year!

Actually, Cinco De Mayo is not a holiday for Mexicans, that day Mexico beat France. Rather - September 16th is the holiday celebrated, it is the actual Mexican Independence Day.
Congratulations on your baby! The new journey will start soon! And of course - Happy Chinese New Year ❤️
Ty 🙌🏻 for this! It seriously gets me in the mood on visiting my Chinese Family in Hawaii right on Chinese New Year! Wish the Best of a New Year to You, Incoming new member, & your Loved Ones!🧧👍
Thank you for this video! And I'm sure it's time consuming, but thank you for the cantonese and mandarin subtitles throughout the video! Helps me practice my cantonese and learn some mandarin. And congratulations on the baby!

Evening of 8th is Pai Thi Kong/Bai Tian Gong, believed to be the ‘survival day’ of Minnan Hokkiens. Many call it Hokkien new year. On 15th day, we call it tsap goh meh, Old families of Straits Chinese people celebrate valentines day, where the young nyonya (creole chinese women) allowed to be out in the crowd. tangerines with names written were thrown into the river or the shores for young lucky men to retrieve. The Peranakans also eat sweet soup called Pengat and sing Dondang Sayang and dance Ronggeng. On that same day, In Singkawang, Kalimantan, the Hakkas would hold procession of spirit mediums. Tainan, Taiwan would parade out deities in sedan chairs from morning til night.

I don’t celebrate Chinese New Year but I find it fascinating! It would be cool to some what follow a long and take some lessons from such a wonderful holiday.
Congratulations and Happy New Year 🐯
Congratulations on the new baby!
Happy Lunar New Year! Best wishes and great fortune for the new year! Congratulations on the new tiger bundle. ;3
I love this!! Thank you
Thank you for all the info.
This is a very good video Carmen. I'm going to celebrate Chinese New Year, I also the Chinese new year envelopes. The red envelopes are beautiful.
My partner and in-laws are Chinese. Celebrations are becoming more muted year by year due to the distance of the family (we moved from US to Canada) and COVID. However, it's the only part of the year I don't have to do cleaning as my partner insists on doing it all. Yay.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!! 💖
Happy Chinese new year
Congrats on ya lovely tiger baby!! and happy new year too :) wow.. am loving ya informative contents :D xie xie!!
*Congratulations on the baby!! 🎉*
I didn’t really follow traditions whenever Chinese New Year came around (partially because my family isn’t very knowledgeable on the them and I wasn’t too interested when I was younger) but even so, my family wanted to do something for us (my cousin and I) and it’s one of the few things that still connects me back to my roots so learning all these, I might start to research more about them and potentially partake in them if I can
(The most on Chinese New Year I’ve done was order Chinese take out, and receive red envelopes 🧧 I used to attend dragon dances but haven’t been to one since the pandemic started, I also had a Qipao/Cheongsam I’d wear but it doesn’t fit me anymore)
Happy Chinese New Year
Thank you xx
I am really missing your New Year's video this year - best one in circulation! - but hope you are enjoying your Tiger-baby! Happy New Year from Italy!

I found this channel when I decided that I would try to teach myself Chinese...
(Talk about a challenge. O_o') I was wondering why I hadn't seen any updates and NOW I'M ECSTATIC!! Congratulations! I hope you and your little one have a healthy birth
It's been on and off but I try to upload something when I have time! Thanks for sticking around and good luck with learning Chinese!
We Koreans celebrate Seollal with rice cake soup. We also perform Saebae ( honoring and bowing to parents and older relatives). We wear new clothes and play Yut nori.
Rice cake soup sounds delicious! Saebae and wearing new clothes sound similar to Chinese traditions. What's Yut nori?
@@NTDOffTheGreatWall It's a board game that uses sticks instead of dice.
I miss playing Yut nori! It was fun playing it with all my family members back when I was a child. Good old memories..
Congratulations! A tiger baby woohoo! I’m a proud tiger baby too 👶. Happy New Year to you and your family 😃

I would definitely not cut my hair during Chinese New Year and no hair salon would open anyway 😹
H’ray! Welcome Tiger Cub!
Congrats on your 老虎仔🐯!
waiting for your comback already!
Oh. That makes sense for garbage day. I was curious but never asked my parents. I always waited until my township’s next garbage day. Lol
Congrats!! My wife is also going to have a Tiger baby this year!!
congratulations on the baby and sun yin fai lok. I know I didnt pronounce that right. but I can say it better then pronounce it. anyways. when I was with former gf at the time. cny eve we would pour tea for the elders and eat sweet candy and that would be considered good luck for the year. the days after cny would just be dull. I know with alot of covid restrictions things are gonna suck this year. but I'll keep the spirit alive because this year is year of the tiger fierce adventurous and brave.
Happy year of the Tiger🐯Gung Hey Faat Choi Sun Nin Fai Lok🧧🐯🎊🎉
!!!Happy Chinese New Year!!!
哇!感谢介绍中国年文化!恭喜您能拥有一个虎宝宝!
A baby for th new year !!! So happy for yuu!!!
Very informative. Would love to see something about how Christians could honor this holiday. My understanding is it's going to be very divisive for Chinese Christians.
CONGRATS ON YOUR WITTLE BEAN!!!!!
this year I was going to do Chinese New Year but I couldn't figure out how I wanted to celebrate it and I didn't know the culture as well but I celebrated last year so because there's a few more days I think although it is kind of disrespectful I think I might just celebrate by having a toast of soda of course because I'm a kid but having a toast to how lucky I've been this year and how lucky I'll be next year (next Chinese New Year and this Chinese New Year)
I'm surprised you didnt mention having oranges & red envelope in your house & when you are visiting relatives
Congrats on the new baby 🎈🍼
