This is how you fix the WiFi connectivity issue when you have a dongle plugged in. Here is the link to the ferrite chokes that I purchased: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mp...
Absolutely brilliant. I’ve been struggling with this for the past week. It only affects one router, but not the other router. It seems it doesn’t like certain settings on this one specific router.
THIS REALLY WORKS! I've bought a couple of USB-C dongles (including the official Apple Multi-port Adapter) for my MacBook Pro 2020 and they all interfere w/ my wifi connection. Even the 'foil thing' (covering my dongles w/ a foil) didn't work for me. So, I ordered some snap-on ferrite beads online and attached it on Apple's Multi-port Adapter and it worked like a charm! What's great about this solution is it won't make your setup look ugly (e.g. the foil thing). Plus, the ferrite beads are small, easy to carry around. Thanks a lot for posting this video, you're a lifesaver! :)
Good on you for making this.. Apple sent a white paper for Intel blaming the technology. Their dongles were designed for this issue hence they recommend them.. they refused to take responsibility and refund me and product did not meet functional expectation. So took em to court and they admitted fault and reimbursed me entirely. Pathetic response toward consumers for their known architectural flaw.
Ridiculous how apple didn't realize this problem even they have 20k employees and selling the product that expensive. Thanks for the video I can fix my wife's macbook without the foil haha.
Very professional solution, David. Thanks a million! Have you experienced the kernel_task issue on your MacBook when using the charger and a dongle on ports on the same side of your laptop?
Actually it only affects some of them that had faulty shielding or were assembled incorrectly. I know it's not normal because this one didn't have that issue before the apple store technicians replaced the top case and battery.
my wifi works, but its very very slow.... My ipad and phone connected to my wifi streams videos really fast compared to my macbook. What can be the problem?
I actually didnt need the ferrite chokes, what I did to solve it was only to put the dongle on a 90 degree, and let the HDMI connected to it to be around for about a feet
It’s anything you connect to any of the usb-c ports. Power adapter, iphone, iPad. Apple branded and after market. Doesn’t seem to be an issue when you try it at an Apple store. They seem to know what the problem is but won’t tell us. 🤔

my Hootoo dongle has the same issue but started after months of use! weird!
Its 7mm?
What is the size of the ferrite choke that you used in the dongle?
I honestly have no clue. I just bought a pack of assorted ones on ebay.
3.5 or 5mm could be fitted
Mine happens when I connect the HDMI cable
me too, any solution to that?
I think it’s a similar problem ... interference. I have the same problem on macbook pro 15” mid 2014
