    And I've only been to 6 MLB games in my life.
    A statistician should figure the odds of only going to 6 games ever and seeing 2 perfect games. Then factor in at same stadium. Then factor in both in same year.

      Agree XD

    • @willoughbykrenzteinburg
      @willoughbykrenzteinburg Před 10 lety +28

      Yeah. It's happened against the Rays 3 times in the 23 perfect games in the history of the MLB. It is _technically_ 'mostly' against the Rays, but its happened twice against 3 or 4 other teams, so it's not like the Rays have a _vast_ majority of MLB's perfect games thrown against them. I think it just _seems_ that way because in recent past, it _HAS_. Those 3 perfect games have come in the last 6 in MLB history (all 3 perfectos have come in just the last 5 years).
      There have been 21 perfectos since 1900, but there have been an abnormally large amount in recent history. Between 1881 and 1979, there were 7 perfect games over 98 years. Since 1980, there have been 14 perfectos over just 34 years, and 11 of those have been since 1990.
      In other words, there have been twice as many perfect games thrown in only 1/3 of the time.
      There have been 4 no hitters pitched against the Rays. There are plenty of teams that have had more thrown against them, so I'd say you are mistaken about that part. Again, it just _seems_ that way because all 4 have come in the last 5 years. They had ZERO prior to 2009.
      Now, the Rays have only even been in the league since 1998 or something, right? So, if you take that into account, you would probably have a case that they have had a lot of perfect games and no hitters thrown against them considering they have only been around for 16 years!!

      There was only one amazing play the whole freaking game, if you watch it, 99% of it was basic pop outs and ground outs. Even the play that he went into the dugout was a pop into foul territory so nothing would have probably happened anyway. Your argument holds no validity.

    • @thatonekidreef
      @thatonekidreef Před 10 lety +8

      They are major league pitchers and they were PERFECT that day. Being a good or bad pitcher has little or nothing to do with it. Like someone else said above, something about a perfect game is so magical. For me it's because anyone can be perfect on any day. and it is so rare you only see a handful in a lifetime.. maybe more but it's still a very small amount. Something like 4,500 games played a year in the regular season and most years never see one. So when it happens, it's special. Your comment is irrelevant and misunderstanding what it means and the significance of being perfect on a particular day. Anyone at anytime can do it. Because it has a lot more to do with luck and chance than it does with skill. Although both play important roles. I promise you any pitcher starting in the major leagues is not lacking in skill. Ignorant comments make me chuckle.

      That expectation is only reserved for players so they don't make the pitcher over-think the perfect game/no hitter. The pitcher can't hear the broadcasters so it doesn't matter. Broadcasters should be able to say those words because it informs the viewer regardless of the ludicrous rule for people not within hearing distance of the pitcher.

I do believe that soon, they might be able to be allowed again because I saw a couple fans run onto the field in 2012 when the A's won the division, and they had no bad intentions. Just to celebrate with the team. I do hope soon that MLB will allow it to happen again
