    Great videos on fixing Bobcats -thank you. Just a note to those unfortunate T320 owners who have a completely different tensioner - a very long spring like a strut spring on a car.
    Problem- There is no hole for a ratchet in the tensioner relieve the tension on the belt. There is no convenient place I could find for a pry bar.There is a very small internal hex on the tensioner pulley but it seems too weak to withstand the force of a long breaker bar on a tiny Allen socket. The fastener on the lower end of the spring is a dowel with a circlip !! The bolt at the top of the spring is a tiny 1/4 internal hex that was far too tight for a 1/4 drive ratchet. I eventually used lots of liquid wrench and a giant Crescent wrench to start it .Then removed with a 1/4" angle impact and a pry bar. What a fight ! Now to get the new belt on. The part number for mine is 7138985. It is 2" wide,5 grooves and 72-1/2" long. Good Luck and I hope you find an easier way to do this job.The tensioner in this video looks way easier.

    Man ok! First time DIY'r! If it wasn't for your video I couldn't have done this! So thank you! It took me about 5 hours start to finish! That includes picking up the part. Issues I ran into. Washer for pulley goes on both insides lmao. My pulley was rubbing the arm at first and couldn't figure it out. But eventually did. Issue #2 with the motor inside it was almost Impossible to push the pulley tensioner mechanism back far enough to get the plate on. I almost quit. But I put the plate on and kept trying to line it up to get the arm to come through the tentionior plate if that makes since. Thank you thank you thank you! You are huge help to the world. How can I tip you.

    Love the no baloney approach to your teaching method. Thank you for another terrific video. One question, I read about a lot of guys that will run their machines without brakes, if you are going down hill and this belt breaks, do you lose the ability to stop without brakes?

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  Před 2 lety

      Excellent question, if the belt breaks you just lose hydraulic flow, if the sticks are returned to neutral the oil in the motors has nowhere to go and the machine should come to a stop. Some oil can leak thru the motor and allow it to slowly roll, hence the need for a brake.

    I do have the same setup on my 2015 s650.
    It makes ratheling noise. Look like the tensioner slacks up and down creating noise.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  Před 2 lety

      Bobcat does not have a specific recommendation on when the drive belt should be changed however I personally recommend replacing at 1000 hours to minimize downtime. Belt and tensioner should be inspected and adjusted every 250 hours.

  • @keithknudson908
    @keithknudson908 Před 3 lety +1

    Great video. I took my belt off and see the tensioner pulley wobbles so assume bearings are shot. That is probably why the belt broke. How do I remove the tensioner pulley? There seems to be a lot of spring pressure so not sure I want to try to remove the whole assembly.

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  Před 3 lety

      You will have to remove me a whole assembly. It can be a little tricky but not bad. Remove the center bolt and the tensioner lock down bolt and use a pry bar to pry it off. You shouldn't need a complete tensioner assembly just the roller hopefully. Pay attention to where the spring goes under a dowel pin on the belt housing itself. when you put it back together you'll have to use a pry bar to get that spring back under the dowel pin. Let me know if you have any issues and I'll try to walk you through it

    Had a Question ,
    This happened on The 770 I’m running Machine just Turned 500 Hours ,
    Is this very Common Failure ? Basically man Want to make sure Its nothing im doing operating it to cause that belt failure ?

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  Před 3 lety +1

      It's is a common failure, the harder you work it the more stress on the belt. The belt is the weak link between the engine and pump. All driven hydraulic systems have a weak link, could be a belt or a coupler but something needs to give before the pump or engine itself is damaged. I've seen machines run 3000 hours on the original belt and I've seen plenty of machines break a belt less than 1000 hours. Make sure the tensioner wheel bearings are good because the tensioner is also a cause of belt failure.
