Great video. My wife and I were able to give our cat fluids with a decent level of confidence after watching!

Thanks. This video addressed priming the line, which The Bow Tie Vet Guy did not address. Watching both videos has given me a little more confidence as tonight is my first time doing it. Unfortunately, there is no other person to hold the cat. I will try and be calm.

my vet had me do a trial on my healthy cat (sick cat day 1, blood work/healthy cat for rabies vax next day). I had no problem sticking the needle in. My cat didn't even flinch. However, the vet sent me home with the saline bag and the kit and never explained how to set up everything. Your video filled in all the blanks. My vet never discussed bleeding the line of air. I knew that was important for use on people (going into the bloodstream) but was unsure if it was needed for a cat. Your video covered all the bases! Thank you for explaining every step.

I don’t think I can do this.😢 I’m crying just watching it. Can anyone tell me an approximate cost of the fluids and all the materials?

K Miller I didn’t think I could do it either, but now I’m a pro, having to do it every other night to my cat for the past 5 months. My vet in Maryland charges $25.00 for the entire kit, which includes the sub-q bag, the tubing and plenty of needles. One kit lasts me about 1 and a half weeks. Also, you do not need to rub alcohol on your pets skin as they demonstrated in this video. Just make sure the needle is new each time. Its always best to warm your sub-q bag before giving to your pet, just make sure it does not get hot! You don’t want it going in burning them! We put the bag in a bowl of warm water for about 5 minutes, depending how much fluid is left in the bag, of course. Your pet will tolerate it better. Check Chewy dot com, as well, as you can get what you need from them, lactated ringers sub-q bags, tubing and needles. Make sure to order the right size needles. Ask your vet what size to get. You will need a prescription from your vet to order everything from Chewy, but its cheaper. Best of luck!
