- My friend Adrian Burgess took me up in the Vans he has a share in for my first ever aerobatic experience. We mounted cameras on both wings as well as in the cockpit to capture the range of faces we pull while pullin' Gs! I hope you enjoy riding along as much as I did.

Another great sunday morning viewing Cheers Rory.
John Knowles cheers John. 👍
Always good to see a new RV Grin being handed out.
Mark Newton yes indeed! Thanks for watching.
Great video Rory 👍👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼✈️✈️..
You was giggling like you were on laughing Gas 🤣🤣🤣
ranbir singh ha ha - yeah, some of it was probably nervous laughter but I really enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
That view looks familiar 😏 nicely done!
Dead Reckoner brilliant experience as you know!
Awesome episode again Rory! Keep up the good work!
Kevin Wolters thanks Kevin. Glad you’re still enjoying them. 👍
@@RoryOnAir haven't missed a single one (y) Have a nice weekend Rory! cheers
A full-windscreen view of the ground is something most pilots really don't want to see.
I think it would probably make me feel a little uneasy.
Well done for holding down your breakfast.
RoadRunnerLaser yes it was a little unnerving but I was very confident in Adrian’a skills so it was all good. Great fun.
Good fun aren't they! Great video which captured it all really well Rory 👍 👏 🙂
Jodel Flyer thanks very much Tim. 👍
Due to experience my first acrobatic flight this afternoon - weather permitting - loved the video as an introduction
Fantastic - I hope you have a great experience. I’m guessing you’ll back at Radio 2 in time for your show though!? #seriousbarrelrollin’ 😉😂
Once had an air X in a Pitts with an X Red arrows pilot flying syncronized aerobaticas as well as individual manouvers. Remains to this day the single most enjoyable experience I've ever had.
Well done for not needing the bag LOL
David Walker thank you! I was determined not to need it. Sounds like your experience was superb.
Really enjoyed this one and a very nice looking aircraft. Have to say it was a good move stopping when you did, think I might have been looking for barf way before that. Looks like the sick bag came back intact and ready for the next time.
PieAlotflyer yeah, no point pretending I was fine and then throwing up. Better to say I’d had enough before I started feeling unwell I thought. Good fun though. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely brilliant and really enjoyed the edit. Very timely top gun references too! 😎
Josh B yes, I was lucky with that! I had no idea they would bring the trailer out last week. Thanks for watching.
oooooh...your poor stomach! Great Video!
JerSher thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it.
Love it! Great video Rory. I want a Vans.....
Lee Russell thank you. Me too!
Lovely, a definite bucket list item.
Well done Rory, another big step on the journey eh?
Thanks for posting, keep 'em coming.
.
Chris England thanks Chris - great fun and yes, I think I will try and do some more of this.
Happy days! Used to do aerobatics in Chipmunks out of Woodvale when I was in the ATC cadets. One Summer camp at RAF Chivenor ( Hunter Conversion Unit at the time ) One pilot in the air experience flight, giving air cadets flights in a Chipmunk, used to go up the coast out of sight of the airfiled and chase Seagulls !!!. He let me do a loop.... still alive so I must have done OK LOL :-)))
Sounds like classic old school fun you wouldn’t be allowed do to today. Lovely stuff and thanks for watching. 👍
That was flying purely for fun and glad you kept your breakfast to keep the fun going.........me would defo used the sick bag!!! I bet you were desperate to use actual Top Gun soundtrack on this one but you did get close. You are a total inspiration to flying it is always so much fun sharing the cockpit with you!
Mikey's wings across the sky thanks very much mate - delighted you enjoyed it. I would have used the top gun music if it wasn’t for licensing issues. 👍
Brilliant lads what a experience. Philip's been up there doing those maneuvers as well. When I was in the raf cadets a long time ago out of church Fenton. We went on a camp for one week at church Fenton. Brilliant experience. Phil.
Well done for stomaching some G’s!! Great video Rory - interesting insight into some acro stuff! Keep em coming
Ben Atkinson serious pullin’ - loadsa G! Cheers Ben. 👍
That looks so much fun rory I'm loving your videos I'm currently working towards getting my license though my last lesson was nearly a year ago as I havent had the money or time due to moving house, I would love to get down to Barton and get up flying with you one day.
Keep them coming 👍
Richard Clark thanks Richard - glad you enjoyed the video. I hope you manage to get on with your licence soon - it’s such good fun. 👍
@@RoryOnAir yeah it is, my last flight was end of April but I should be able to get back on with the flying shortly out of eshott airfield in Northumberland
That was a great video Rory, now we know what you will be practicing next.....lol Kind of like riding a roller coaster eh? You be careful up there if you decide to give it a go, and be sure to warn Lizi if you decide to give her a sample of it........lol And bring your rabbits foot with ya!!!
dick moore ha ha ha - ‘I don’t need no rabbits foot’ in a French accent like that old cartoon. Well I hope not anyway..! And yeah, I will warn Lizi First. Thanks for the comment.
Really enjoyed watching that. Must add that to my bucket list!
Looking forward to the next video. :)
My Flying Adventures many thanks, glad you enjoyed it. 👍
A nice change of pace there, Rory! Very well put together 👍
Kevin Chilton cheers Kevin - great to do something different right enough.
Nice video Rory. I did some aerobatic training in a Citabra years ago to learn spin training. Didn't like it as much as you did but I didn’t do any maneuvers like your flight. Just got around to your flight with your wife to Fife, Scotland. Enjoyed those too. Yeah we all stumble at times talking to the folks on the ground. Never feel like a numpty. Fly safe
Gary Dell cheers Gary, I appreciate that. I’m more confident on the radio now but it’s a year on so that’s understandable I think. The Aeros was a test of the tummy but really good fun. I would like to do some spin training at some stage.
Nice one Rory!
Joe Richardson cheers Joe. 👍
Great video matey. I had sick bag at hand coz I was feeling the g too!
Jed Wigmore we just need VR televisions and you can experience the G with me!
Not quite sure if I could have done that after my Sunday morning croissants ... but another great video Rory.
Looking forward to the next one.
DC03FAN nice one! First comment this time too. 👍
wow you guys really know how to put on a show well done to u both...
Hi Rory, I had a 1 hour trial flight with Chris this morning in Oscar Alpha. Loved every minute of it. I know you're not an instructor but some of the stuff I have picked up from your channel proved invaluable -eg - I didn't hoik the stick back as soon as I got hold of it. I did wander a bit but not too much for a first timer I don't think. Also, I took on board from your vids how sensitive the controls are. Even so, I was amazed at how sensitive they really were, you don't feel as if you're moving them at all. Thanks for the good tips mate. It was always going to be a good experience for me, but stuff I pcked up from your channel undoubtedly made it so much better. Cheers Rory.
Ian Livsey ah that’s fabulous Ian - I’m absolutely delighted you enjoyed it. Chris is great as are Marcus, Tony and David at Mainair. I’m really pleased you found some of my videos useful. You should try the C42 as well as see which you prefer. Hiring one is easier as there are 3. Are you going to take up lessons?
I'm definitely going to do another one to try the C42. I'd love to take up lessons but financially, it would be very difficult. It would mean I pretty much have to give up beer, which is another love of my life lol. I'll have a go in the Ikarus and do some serious thinking about it. BTW, I also met Tony this morning and he seems like a great bloke.
Ian Livsey sounds like a good idea, at least then you’ll have experienced both types. Tony is fab - great instructor. I know it’s not cheap but a lesson a week is enough to keep your learning rate up and I think the more you fly the less you’ll miss the beer!
Job done. Second flight paid for. It was my intention to try the C42 but for some reason, I feel like I want to do the Eurostar again! What do you think
Ian Livsey great stuff Ian. I think it would be no bad thing to try the C42 at this early stage. You may prefer it and if you leave it too late you’ll be better doing all your training before changing aircraft.
Oi, that's my spot! 😂
Nice edit. Looks like you had fun!
Steven Bakhtiari and a very good spot it is too mate! Great fun. 👍
Awesome episode, mate! Got to have a go with aerobatics, myself... ;)
ForFunFlyer you should do - great fun!
@@RoryOnAir Wilco! First I'll go and fetch my new airplane, since I sold my old one. Oops, did I just leak a scoop? :P ;)
I need to do this!!!!!
I think all pilots should have some aeros experience. Still chance for a cameo in Top Gun 2!
Private Pilot Vlogs it was great fun, and yeah, a useful experience for any pilot I think. Fingers crossed for TG2!
Great video! Handled it better than me, I think although everyone says you build up tolerance over time. Upside down is great, it’s pulling the 5G getting there that’s the hard part!
This will be difficult to top 😁
Steve Middleton thanks Steve. It was good fun and nice to capture It on cameras. My next video features a near miss with another Eurostar just after departing Sleap. More jeopardy, but the right way up!
I was disappointed not to see rory in the new Top Gun Maverick Trailer.
EinkOLED ha ha ha I’d be the one still doing my pre flight checks on deck while the jets are on their way back from the mission I missed!
Doing aeros is great fun, but Sheryl Crow?! 😳 You must accredit that song to none other than Cat Stevens and given that you were grinning like a Cheshire Cat, you should have known that 😉
I should have known that, and I’m embarrassed I got that wrong. Well spotted!
Ha ha! You’re forgiven. Her version wasn’t bad!
More challenges than flying straight and level
Amazing that you can do aerobatics in the RV7 ! Is it necessary to make modifications to the fuel and oil system to perform this basic aerobatics? Great video
I’m not sure on that to be honest. Very cool plane.
Amazing one day
Adrian Turton yeah it was great fun.
Rory On Air I did some airo when I was in air cadet as a chaplain. How is the training going
Adrian Turton good thanks - I still have 4 exams to do but I’m getting there I think.
Hi Rory, I enjoyed watching your aerobatic experiences with Adrian. Is it possible to fly the Vans RV7 on an NPPL or does one need a full JAR PPL ?
david cassidy I think he’s flying that on his EASA LAPL A actually. I don’t believe you can on the NPPL. Thanks for watching!
They don’t require you wear parachutes when doing acro over there?
Great stuff , what date did you do this ?
Andrew Martin 9th Of June that one was.
@@RoryOnAir Thought so , you joined the circuit in front of me as I was joining overhead FISO told me to look out for the Vans !!! Have it on video as a fast moving speck :-)
Andrew Martin excellent! Glad you managed to sneak into a video, kind of! 👍
What a shame it hasn’t got a c/s prop 🤣. And such a shame he was rather rough. Never mind...😇
Mike Newall ha ha it didn’t feel rough to me but I’m used to heli wobble now.
aint you t big thumbs
