    I’ve literally never understood darning , I never wanted to , because it was so intimidating and seemed hopeless . You explained it so well and so clear ; you made my darning light bulb just come on, finally. Thank you so much I’m attempting to teach myself to sew, just me and CZcams. I appreciate it thanks again

    I used my walking foot because it has an open foot and I can see the stitches. Came out better than I expected. Many thanks.

    I've watched a few of these tutorials, and I like your method is the best. Thanks for the tips.

    Thank you for the instructions! I wasn't sure what to do with my tablecloth after I used my rotary cutter on it without the cutting mat. Turned out great!

    Thanks! I just saved one of my husband's work uniform shirts with this method. Except my fusible stabilizer *actually* fused this time and I can't peel it up to cut away the excess. LOL Doesn't work when I want it to and works too well when I don't want it to. Good thing it was featherweight.

      stretchy fabric is a different animal, you can't really pull back and forth on it because it puckers

    So for a tear, could you just suture the two sides together with a zigzag pattern? Thanks a bunch!

    Hi! I have an almost new terrycloth kitchen towel with a bold floral print that suddenly has a rather large hole in it. I really do not want to have to cut it up and make smaller things out of what is left - will this technique work on it? Thanks!

    I thought my parents dropped the feed dogs. Is that advisable? I never have successfully been able to get it to look nice like yours. my dad taught me to sew because my mom did not have time to with us three children. Both are gone now. Mom did mending for me because she had to learn hand sewing before machine. Hers was very neat. I learned machine first and never got it neat like hers unless it was cross stitch where every thing is pre-marked where you stitch.

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 5 lety +1

      I'd drop the feed dogs if you want to use a free motion foot, but it's not necessary.

      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 5 lety +1

      You can if you want. I've used a frame for free motion sewing but didn't have any problem doing this without.

    If I'm repairing jeans that are starting to rip (not a hole yet), then can I just use an interfacing without the damage cloth?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes. Depending on the weight of the interfacing, it might stiffen that area, but it should soften up as you wear it. Not sure how long it'll last through a lot of machine washing though. .

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 4 lety

      It's a stabilizer. You can find different kinds in the notions department. It just depends on your project and fabric type on which kind you should use. Mines a sticky water soluble stabilizer which is great if your fabric is washable.

    How do you do reverse stich

    • @StrawberryKilla
      @StrawberryKilla Před 10 měsíci

      as far as i know machines have a return button usually it's a button that has a u-turn arrow looking thing on it. The machines i've seen are like that. You hold button to return then let go for normal

    Instead of this method, can you use a zigzag stitch?

  • @mojpotep
    @mojpotep Před 4 lety

    Stabiliser and interfacing are not the same thing, right?

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 4 lety

      interfacing could be used as a stabilizer but a stabilizer is not necessarily interfacing. Most stabilizers are used for machine embroidery type projects.

    which foot is used

    • @ProfessorPincushion
      @ProfessorPincushion  Před 5 lety +1

      I'd just use a decorative stitch foot. It had a wider gap in the center of the foot and if you turn it over, you'll notice it has a shallow groove going down the center of the foot.
