- Getting students, especially middle schoolers, to actively engage and talk about their reactions, thoughts, and opinions, on what they read can be a challenge. Not too long ago I had a student admit "Ms. Robinson actually made me like reading." It is these moments that make a teacher feel like she is doing something right. In this video I share a few of the strategies that I integrate into my language arts lessons, that encourage students to share their thinking.
Now that I am back in the classroom, I will be putting my Samsung Interactive Display to work. If you would like to learn more about the display, or are interested in getting one for your classroom or school site, check the link and contact information below.

Thank you for you service as an educator. The close reading method that you shared was fantastic. Keep sharing and keep reading.
I love how you are integrating technology to enhance student engagement and learning. Hopefully, we will see more of this innovation in every classroom. Tfs
This really great. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent use of technology.
I would love to have this in my class!
I am about to finish my student teaching experience. I was told I might end up getting a job teaching Reading instead of Math as I have done the entire year. I was terrified, but do not want to turn down the offer. This was very helpful for me to see because I do not know where to start or how to go about teaching reading. Thank you so much for this video.
Great video!! Every teacher could use one of these!
I love teaching language arts/ reading! I am so to hear that this video helps you get a sense of where to start.
THANK YOU for this video!!! I am a 5th grade teacher and I am doing that exact thing with one of my all-time favorite chapter books(Walk Two Moons), I truly love that book and I am teaching in a way that steps away from traditional questions and doing it as a discussion with activities and projects and so far by students are loving it. This gave me a few more suggestions/ideas on what else to do. Thank you for being an inspiration to others. Alicia from CT
You're awesome!!
Loved this! Thanks!
The book club idea is genius!
Great Job!!
Loved this! Nice technology. I agree. Building background is imperative. Guided discussions help students consider the details deeply. Do you use graphic organizers to practice assembling knowledge for specific purposes? Happy teaching!
I have used them, but I don't tend to use them often. Some times I feel as though when you give kids something to fill out, it immediately turns into an assignment, so I use them sparingly.
This was so helpful. I was taking notes. Thanks.
So glad you found it helpul!
Ummm I’m pretty sure that student was me
Maybe... :)
Loved this! Thanks!
