How to change a serpentine belt and water pump belt on a VW Golf Mark 3

I hope you get a few tips here to make belt changing easier on your mark III VW Golf. Follow all safety procedures when jacking up the side of the car. Once the wheel is off it is quite simple.

i needed this because my alternator on my mk3 just got fried after a shoddy worksman tried to fit a battery that wasn’t meant for my car. it didn’t help that he also connected the terminals back to front too. just lucky that the alternator was all that got harmed and not the whole electrics🤦‍♂️

hello do you know what is used for those 2 pins on the alternator 1 is field excitation for what is the other used for is it bound to the ecu or rpm gage?
