2017 already has more hype sets than 2015 and 2016 combined.
Ikr! Smash 4 has gotten really hype since like the closing of 2016 and now 2017 is looking to be the best year Smash 4 has ever had.
More newcomers Japanese players weve never heard of and a lot of upsets

Locus is easily the best Ryu in tournament, but we all know about friendly Trela though
Didn't Trela retire? And pretty much Locus is the #1 Ryu after Civil War.
Mr. Fry Locus is #1 Ryu now, but if u ever have a friendly with Trela, he'll most likely 4 stock u in a 2 stock match
Herz Pik at this point locus is by far #1 with how many more upsets he's gotten and his placings being comparable/better to prime trela as it is

Trela retired, saying that he was the pioneer of Ryu, and that he's found a more consistent player to take the reins instead of him. Locus is clearly proving Trela right, top 8 at Civil War and taking ZeRo to game 5 after being 3-0'd by him before. He's improving incredibly quickly. Also, friendly Trela is unbeatable apparently. He went to the Sky House (Top players like Void, ZeRo live there) and he apparently destroyed everybody in friendlies, and even made ZeRo consider picking up Ryu for a while. He's literally top 5 in friendlies.
I understand that people hate ZeRo because he wins alot but when is this man gonna get his due, this man be having some of the best sets in smash 4 history ex: zero vs ranai, zero vs ally, zero vs tsu, zero vs ned, and zero vs locus.
The point is where would smash 4 be without him when some of the best sets involve him.

Game 5 ZeRo vs Game 5 Locus round 1 fight! Locus in game 5 is probably one of the scariest players in Smash 4. His ability to adapt in a Bo5 is straight up inhuman. His conversions get better and his reads get really scary. Anyone that survives Game 5 Locus, let alone ZeRo, is an amazing player.
If only he learned how to pick up bananas he might have won :(
or if he let those focus punches go after the first back air of zeros edge guard attempts he coulda landed those and kept egde guarding pressure off
you guys are both wrong. locus doesnt know how to DI. if he did he would've won for sure
a positive attitude seems to go a long way as well. he's happier than most pro players during a match
@Arnold uhhhh no one said that there's one exact reason why Locus lost, it's a combination of a lot of things.
If this doesn't solidify Locus as the best Ryu bar none at this point, I dunno what to tell you. He's the only Ryu in recent years to actually come this close to beating ZeRo in without a doubt Ryu's worst matchup. That recovery at 4:08 from ZeRo was absolutely insane, too!
Smash 4 has evolved to a whole new level. When ZeRo is no worse than he was back in his period of total Smash 4 dominance (he's unquestionably even better on his own now) but so many players can stand toe-to-toe with him, even when he's playing incredibly well, it's a real testament to how amazing this game is becoming competitively.
Dreadfury locus is by far the best ryu now
namely cuz of two reasons
A) Trela quit smash because he found his "successor" (locus) and
B) all the other ryus dont even contest locus, closest to him now is either djjack (who doesnt show much anymore) and darkshad who, while is good, isn't as mentally powerful compared to locus
So Trela, the Ryu pioneer, after a long period of being a hidden boss and taking out names from the shadows, finally retires leaving Locus as his successor, ready to dominate the scene as the new Ryu threat.
I swear to god the sm4sh scene looks like an anime.

Probably the greatest match I've very watched. It had every competitive aspect thrown in. So much to watch, and so exciting.
What we all need is Locus vs Fatality, grand finals in a major event.
Zero the GOAT. this set was so lit and he took it all the way back to win finally beating ally with persistent blade and taking out ned 3-0 who initially put him into losers. zero takes this very seriously im glad to see this

4:08 I'm kinda new at Sm4sh tournaments. Can someone explain how ZeRo escaped the spike? Why is it so impressive?
He didn't exactly escape the spike, but because the Omega Version of Suzake Castle has an outer wall, ZeRo was able to wall cling with Diddy, regaining a jumping and then being able to recover. On a normal stage, he should have died there.

ZeRo went downhill because he got a hand injury that made him unable to play for a while, for those of you that don't already know. He lost his first tournament after that injury.
Ignore the people below who don't get that being out of a competitive game for months will put you behind, and let other people catch up. I think they want to fantasize about ZeRo being bad or something I honestly don't know.
