What a fantastic video showing the difference. People have a lot of misconceptions around what an 8 Hcp golfer looks like. They just don't make double bogeys too often and settle with a bogey. Lower hcp players make more pars. A bit more consistent. Excellent work.

I walked that course, following Tommy Bjorn and Stephen Gallagher during the Johnny Walker, and I was knackered afterwards. Playing 36 in a day around there, you have my respect.

two rounds at gleneagles is a tough day, next mat skip the kings course and play at the club across the road, auchterarder,better warm up for the nicholson sourse and just an airound better course than the kings.

"this man shaves more holes than a maternity ward".... 😂 no matter how bad it´s going out there, always try to keep the humour going ;) as someone once said, "if you can´t laugh at yourself, call me and I´ll laugh at you" :) so interesting to see how the cold conditions affect everything about your usual game.. I live and play in Norway where the conditions are similar.. you should visit sometime Matty. We have the most Northerly Links in the world up at the spectacular Lofoten Links.. I played there a few years ago, 2 rounds back to back, 2 identical scores.. I could hardly walk afterwards but enjoyed every second of the pain.

If you’re struggling with the Driver, have you tried trimming the shaft by half or 3 quarters of an inch?
The Kings and the Centenary are both monsters. I've seen you swing with far more consistency Matt - a tough day after a shitty night (was it Westerwood in Cumbernauld by any chance?), and you need to be on very top form to tackle those 36 holes.
I still reckon my guess of 3.2 is on the cards. You're gonna get the swing, and those rounds will just go in the bin courtesy of WHS.

Great video. Honest, brutal and funny. I played two rounds in a day this summer for charity. First round i played like God, one of my best rounds ever. Second round, same course and i went from God to Dog. It takes it out of you......
Very minor (and amusing) point...Jack Nicholson has never designed a golf course, he may have been asked and replied 'you want a course? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE COURSE!!!' Its good to see how different types of course present different challenges though.
Any tips on how not to follow up a low to mid 80's score with a 105? Lol regularly.. one day i look like i know what im doing the next day looks like i have never played before lol.
I’m born and raised in Scotland, if u can play golf here you can play golf anywhere. Conditions are rarely non challenging

Scottish golfers play more compact. I think if you imagine you’re in a divot on every shot and you just want ball first punch it you’ll see your score drop so fast. Punch shot has less spin so your plan will be back on track : (ps I promise this wasn’t golf advice I promise I promise) 😂

I honestly think the key to playing scratch is long straight drives. I’ve practised hard at that and my handicap is dropping fast. I’m now a very long hitter with the driver and most par 4’s I’m left with a short iron which means I hit a lot of greens in regulation. I still carry a 2 iron for days when driver ain’t working though.

I have faith, you only use 8 out of your 20 rounds and the course rating and slope are probably pretty high.

@@lazy_dadThis is a PGA course at Gleneagles. It's more expensive than 99% of courses here. St.Andrews courses are even a lot cheaper than that for a round.
300 GBP per course, 600 total for the day 2 courses
