Last week I decided to play this game again on my old game boy and I managed to beat it YES!!!!! My hands were literally shaking when I was at the final boss. Good game!
The Clinger Winger was the most brutal level on the NES version because there was virtually no room for error. But here it's much easier. Thank God for that
And the level was completely broken in 2 player mode, as the second player couldn’t do anything at all. Though it was patched in later releases of the game.
I beat this game a lot as a kid because I didn't have that many games, I didn't realize until years later that the NES version has a couple more really hard levels and is overall considered one of the hardest NES games. I'm going to have to try and beat that one now lol.
My idea of how the board meeting went pitching this game, in the style of Robin Williams' golf rant (/watch?v=pcnFbCCgTo4); "Here's my idea for a game: toads fighting evil." "You mean a bit like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?" "F*** off, Turtles! Those guys have shells, these guys are going in naked! They'll have to pick stuff up along the way." "Oh, you mean like Mario?" "F*** off Mario! He just has to hit blocks to get his stuff, you have to destroy the enemies if you want anything!" "Oh, you mean like Zelda?" "F*** off, Zelda! He's always on foot, we'll give our toads rapelling ropes that constantly lower while birds attack you and speeders that you can't stop." "So it's going to have auto-scrolling levels?" "F*** no! Auto-scrolling usually goes at a manageable pace, these barely give you time to think, and sometimes you can't see which way the snake platform is turning because it's off the screen, so you have to die every time you want to find out!" "Snake platform?! Never mind, let's carry on. What about bosses?" "Well there's a giant spinning Mento that chases you and can kill you in one hit. Time it right and you can knock it down." "So you finish it off just the one time?" "F*** NO!! THIRTY-THREE F***ING TIMES!!!!"
Thank you for bringing a lot of my childhood memories back. IDK why but I feel creeped out by this game when I was a kid. I also call this game "Bituka World", meaning "Intestine World" 😂😂😂

In the repelling level, you can become a wrecking ball if you stay against the right or left wall for a second or so. Then you can smash across the screen and move through the level so quickly. Also, "juggle" the crows off the wall as much as possible for a ton of points.
This game looks sooo impressive with mind blowing effects such as parallax scrolling & fake multi scrolling backgrounds, heck even the donkeykong land series and even even donkeykong country on the gameboycolor did not had any of these effects,wich is an absolute shame since those ACM rendered games supposedly require new norms from systems, not mention, those games did appear 5 & 10 years later, so therefore rareware should,ve used all the tricks from this game into it wich they did not, also they didn’t bother using pcm sound into those games,, the thing is,if rareware really wanted it, they could,ve make those half ports much much closer to the snes versions of it!!!

lol as a kid I thought there was only this version and the one on NES. I literally just found out (when typing 'Battletoads Game Boy' into CZcams) that the ORIGINAL version on Game Boy is totally different than this one. So weird.
I might have the answer now. The Game Boy game titled Battletoads was released in 1991. Like the Arcade, it didn't have to have a different title because it's the only game on Game Boy with that title. However, two years later, they *did* release the original NES game onto the Game Boy, and they couldn't just change the 1991 title, so they had to give it a name pertaining to one of the levels in the NES version, Ragnarok's Canyon. It was a major fuck-up.
This game... the first level was so good and I was hoping for another level in that style. I managed to beat the turbo tunnel as a kid without losing a single live conistently and even managed to get past the stupid snake level, god knows how many tries and tons of batteries it took me to memorize all that sh*t. But then I saw the next level is also a driving stage and I just had enough. As a last effort to get at least a tiny bit more fun out of the game, I tried beating the turbo tunnel without taking the warp shortcut, hoping it would lead to another beat 'em up level. And it did.... with f*ckin' ice physics!!! Man I was so pissed and hated everything Battletoads from that day on. Never touched it ever again. I have no problems beating frustrating games like Ninja Gaiden on NES... when they're good! This game just sucks and is not worth the time.

the NES version was brutal but the gameboy port of this aka Battletoads in Ragnarok's World was easier but still difficult

The speedbike run was the reason why I gave up playing this game.
Even till today i couldn't finish the speedbike run, is one of the hardest things in any game i've ever played and we are in Dec 2018.

Played this game as a kid but could rarely ever make it beyond the aqua bike stage.
In the repelling level, you can become a wrecking ball if you stay against the right or left wall for a second or so. Then you can smash across the screen and move through the level so quickly. Also, "juggle" the crows off the wall as much as possible for a ton of points.
The ones carrying blades sharp enough to cut the rope you can juggle for additional 1UPs. Ones that don't have blades just end with 10,000 points.

Am-Stram-Gram With some practice, you can defeat the speed cycle stage without dying. It isn't that hard.
