I feel like this new personality in her music has always been under the surface. It has often been seen in her collabs with other artists, where they have more metal, techno and dark themes
Osea ella siempre ha tenido la misma personalidad, solo que lo único que cambia es la madurez y vibras de cada álbum, pero sigue teniendo esa energía de Aurora
This album honestly feels like a spell to be as one with the universe.
Omg I will cry after reading this beautiful comment...
I think it is a warning to humanity regarding the danger of AI
The way I started screaming when I saw this
Here’re the timestamps cuties
Thank luv it
At the end of My Body Is Not Mine people are saying it sounds as though Aurora is screaming CEASEFIRE NOW. It seems as though Aurora is connecting our disconnect with our bodies to those who need us to reconnect and to use our bodies and our hearts to rise up and protest genocide. Also Highly recommended A Soul With No King ( NATURE REMIX) it’s more a different darker rainforesty interpretation of the song and was released before the original and before the album. Some Type Of Skin acoustic and the live vevo performance are also worth checking out.
I’ve heard the ceasefire now part and I can totally see it, I personally always hear “she’s all I’ve/you’ve got”
I am OBSESSED with the wild dark songs she put on this Record. Its so different but makes so much Sense at the same time
I noticed that reactors that listened the singles apart and skip them in the reaction or not listen for the first time the whole album struggled with it
Im so glad that you wait and give every song the same amount of attention, auroras albums are thought as a whole in my opinion, you get more of each song in association with the songs before in the album
during her live show in Kingston she said in regards to A Soul with no King that she feels like "it's guilt talking to us"
Your reaction is as artistic and perceptive as her album.
This album has so much AOTY potential
I agree. But, let's make a debate in this reply section.
Hit Me Hard And Soft or What happened to The Heart?
@denzeldimana7661 A lot of people are going to say billie, she has more recognition and influence. Her album really stood out after so many flops.
BUT...Aurora's album literally speaks to the soul. Every single song feels different (in a noticeable way). The album title describes to perfection the concept, and the songs elaborate the story. Aurora's album is really personal. I would compare it to Lana del rey Ocean blvd, Adele 30, Lorde Melodrama.
Top 5:
1. The Dark dresses Lightly
2. Earthly Delights
3. The Blade
4. A Soul with no King/Starvation
5. Invisible Wounds
but honestly, this is not fair, I cannot chose (also live versions vary, too)
This album has been my entire existence since it came out. I had the privilege of seeing her set in Kingston and my god it was something else. My favourite (at the moment) is My Name, the beat and gorgeous vocals from Aurora and Ane just perfect
Thanks for your empathic and thoughtful analysis of this glorious album. I think the “you” she refers to can be on two levels: an individual lover, but also her public, each of her warrior and weirdos, who give her love, but place such heavy emotional demands on her. She is so insightful into herself and others, and so brilliant in putting those insights into poetry, it is astounding to me. BTW, I cannot choose favourites, each song is my favourite until the next!
Thats what I was thinking for invisible wounds also ❤
@@Eyes_Unclouded Agreed!
during "My Body is not mine" outro, she's shouting "Cease fire, now! Cease fire, now!".
i thought she was saying “she’s had enough” 😅
ahhh that's even better than what I thought she was saying: "s this all you got"!!
It seems a lot of different sites have diverging lyrics for that part
@@Anonymous_Gambito I truly believe it is "Cease fire now", specially because she's always speaking about the war on her social media. It would also fit the music theme perfectly (in my opinion)
You are amazing. This was the best reaction to the album i have seen so far... your ability to sense those things is stunning 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
I love the darker synths - lower voiced Aurora on this album. It is SO GOOD. And yes Aurora is dipping into her metal side; she just did a collab with Bring Me The Horizon called Limousine!! Great reaction as usual Luscent. It gives me such joy to hear other people loving on the incredibly-slept-on brilliance of Aurora. Kelly Clarkson just “discovered” Aurora recently and has sung a few of Aurora’s songs on the talk show BUT she is still at the “Runaway” era. Aurora has expanded and grown so far since then! Everyone that does get exposed to her brilliance does go down the rabbit hole of her genius eventually! No one can resist her magic.
Some Type of Skin Acoustic version is arguably even more beautiful
Always love your analysis. It really got me thinking of the story of the album and after a couple re-listens I think this might be her most heartbreaking one 😅, at least with the ending. Like you mention, in the Step 1 and Step 2 era she had this message of “I will be your guiding light, I will be the queen of our Queendom” and she had taken up this role of being a saviour.
But now with this album she’s hurt at the state of the world and starts by trying to convince herself she can still be okay (To Be Alright) but keeps coming back to realizing the world is too hard and too difficult right now (Some Type of Skin) and then getting angry about it (Starvation, The Blade).
And in the Blade she talks about protecting “soft hearts” by taking up the fight (“bloodstained hands”) to protect everyone else, and so you think maybe she’ll end it with becoming a warrior again.
But instead she ends the album by admitting defeat: “I need you to stop needing me.” “I can’t fix all of your pain because I’m in pain too.” She hasn’t said it outright but I can’t help but interpret Invisible Wounds as her feeling the weight of this burden of being this bright light that people see her as, and realizing that she can’t be that anymore, not until she’s healed for herself.
AURORA speaks about A Soul With No King during her live concert in Kingston at Pryzm (11 June 2024):
"I feel like our souls are lost, and I feel like our souls don't know what to do. We haven't given them any value, and we haven't given them any [hold/home]. And I feel like we really need to prove to our soul that we're its ruler - and we'd hear it and we will guide it by being just decent, [empathetic], good human beings. And I think about what's happening in Palestine a lot when I sing this song because I don't understand how in the modern time - in modern times like this - that we can disagree on whether something so heartbreaking is wrong or not. I don't understand."
1. To Be Alright
2. Some Type Of Skin
3. Echo Of My Shadow
4. Starvation
5. Invisible Wounds
To Be Alright is my new favourite, I can’t stop listening to it, and the whole album is just brilliant. She’s so special.
The narrative structure of this album is truly beautiful. She encapsulates the personal heartbreak of existing in a difficult world- from the subtle surface in the beginning, to the nuances and underbelly of the darker emotions, and the conflicting, frustrating, confusing and even paralyzing angst that weaves its way through the latter half of the album, right up to the note of softness and of this realistic optimism at the end. She’s so self-aware with how she’s introducing and reintroducing her stylistic choices, from the synth to the folky melodies and voice, to the lyrical themes of the body and mind as a functional yet fragile operation. It is clinical, foreboding, timid and blow-your-socks off bold as fuck.
Aurora has a particular strength for introspection and it’s impacted me on a personal level and inspired me to move 5000 miles away to leave a stressful job and pursue a career in the arts. But on this album, she almost gives up on wisdom and dangles in this place that is neither rooted in the ground nor twinkling above us a better world, it is moving around, vulnerable, scared, lost and for me that makes it the most nuanced album she’s ever produced.
I always love your insights Luscent. Thanks for the video!
"My Name", "Do You Feel", and "Starvation" completely gagged me on my first listen. I was like "Is this even Aurora?? Is she taking me to the club??" I am so happy she is experimenting and trying new sounds, but it still sounds so much like AURORA. This album blew me away. Also I am completely addicted to the second half of "My Body is not Mine". Just...UGH it's so good. As for my top 5 songs of the album, I'd say they are:
1. Starvation
2. My Body is Not Mine
3. To Be Alright
4. My Name
5. Some Type of Skin
Fun fact, your blood released on my birthday. Best gift I could’ve asked for.
I was so happy to see you here with this reaction. Love your profound analysis. I wish all critics would see this, they dont always understand the depth of the music. You Are so spot on with many things, and you Are able to express things in a way I cant, and you see things I didn’t see. So impressed with your insights. (In her last album, she ended on the moon, I think she starts there in her first song, same soundscape+In To Feel alright she/production actually sound like Madonna. You commented she sings in a different voice. So fun.) The way you describe the songs and the album, I Discover Even more than I originally did. This album is a Conflict of the mind… The songs Are interconnected in ways I look forward to exploring more after seing this. Also: I read that she received a letter that inspired this, from indigenous people(?) you can read about it, dont remember where. And she asks in the title: What happened to the heart (in our society), and then this album is exploring this. So beautiful: both the concept, the album, the songs, Aurora, you, your reaction. Top five: impossible, because it changes all the time, but: The Essence, Dreams, A soul with no King, Starvation, To feel Alright, The Blade Are all up there. Your reaction made me love more of the songs more than I originally did. She is engaged in the things you Are talking about, both environmental issues, mental health, pandemics, technology, of course LGBTQ+, Black lives matter, todays war situation (Ukraine, Gaza++). It’s a lot! So how has the world become like this? What happened to the heart? ..Hope you will see/react to her music videos and live stuff (vivo) as well. And how about an Aurora documentary: Once Aurora (beautiful, costs a bit of money, but worth it, copyright issues, though) or Haik (lovely, free). Anyway: Thank you for this, take care
I have listened to these songs as separate pieces until now. Throughout this reaction you made me understand how they are connected and why they are in this order. But it didn't ACTUALLY hit me until the very last song...
"Invisible Wounds" immediatelly became my favourite song after hearing it for the first time. I feel every detail she says in it so deeply. I tend to be the person to try to fix others but I realized in my current relationship that it's not possible for me to fix them. This song showed me that it is okay, that my partner needs to fix themselves but I can still be there for them an love them through it. I thought of it as a lovesong but from a very different angle...which discribes my realtionship quite perfectly.
That's why I was soooooo looking forward to your reaction to the last song. I previously didn't understand the heavy personal meaning of the song for Aurora herself and that she probably isn't talking to a partner or a friend but to ALL OF US.
This made the song even 10x better for me! The perfect closure we needed within this album. SHE IS SO AMAZING!
And so are you! Thank you so much for this reaction ❤
Your interpretation and reaction to her music is just as pure and brilliant as her music itself ❤
26:36 What an incredible image you just placed in my head; Aurora, standing atop a glacial shelf, the mountains and blue sky behind and a verdant valley stretching away before her far below, belting out her soul just to be heard, and those hearing emerging from a distant tree line, emerging from all their various ways of life, looking up in unanimous appreciation of someone who can sing out those fundamental connections that bind us all, regardless of the myriad of ways by which we live our lives.
That was a nice image to catch and hold on to for a bit. Thanks for that.
It is to soon to say tha this is her best album???💙💙💫💫💫
Fantastic reaction, love to see a fellow Aurora fan enjoy the album! You are forgiven for last weeks little premiere "drama" which I commented on 😉😂
I think this is my favorite Aurora album, even though I love the other ones as well and have very strong feelings towards most of her songs in her first 3 albums!
Top 5:
1. Earthly Delights
2. To Be Alright
3. Starvation
4. The Essence
5. My Body Is Not Mine
I somehow can’t choose favourites from this album. I’m obsessed will all of the songs. I love when the dark dresses lightly, starvation, dreams, invisibles wounds, my name.. Basically all of them.
Thank you ! - nice to get your view on Auroras music - I love her present in the world ! Best from a old woman in Bergen ( Auroras hometown) . Ouer emotians are ouer tressures - if not we could not experience anything !
thanks for your reaction.
Starvation has to be my favorite song from the album, i got to see Aurora live in Dublin and when she sang this song it was like we were transported to a rave somewhere, everyone was dancing and feeling the music. honestly one of the best experiences of my life!!
Amazing reaction my fav
1: invisible wounds
2 echo of my shadow
3: the essence
4: starvation
5:the dark dresses lightly
Tysm for the beautiful reaction❤️
Like you, I really love this album. It's so diverse and experimental, but still very much Aurora. Current top 5 favorites:
The Conflict of the Mind
Starvation
The Essence
A Soul with No King
The Blade
I f........... love you and your reactions, and I love you loving Aurora ❤
The album is amazing but I truly think the later songs, I'd say from Do You Feel are just on whole other level for Aurora. Absolutely my favorite album of hers
What a great reaction to this incredible album. Your appreciation and understanding of the lyrics is wonderful. My favorites on the album are: Invisible Wounds, Starvation, Echo of My Shadow, The Blade, then I struggle, so many I love the same. Perhaps Conflict of the Mind, or The Dark Dresses Lightly or Some Type of Skin, I just can't, lol
You tamed me with the mental health sponsor, and it worked. Thanks for spreading the feels, the mood. I wish I could’ve delivered this 10 years ago. I’m in.
My Top 5!!
1. Starvation
2. My Body is not Mine
3. Earthly Delights
4. Invisible Wounds
5. To Be Alright
FINALLY. Been waiting all week! Wahoooo
Thanks for another enjoyable reaction video! 👍Waited for it a week! Really good review analysis. So nice that you look at the lyrics for each song. Agree with so many of your interpretations!
33:10 I think she's refering to her 17'yo bf that died brutaly. Thinking to what they could have been together, the essence of them together...
It could also be about the sorrow of her community, pouring their needs and feeling into her.
Its so cool to know there are men in the world who enjoy her music
This was such a fun reaction to watch! Great reaction vid :D
Absolutely loved your reaction. Here are my top 5:
1. Starvation
2. Do you feel?
3. My Body Is Not Mine
4. Earthly Delights
5. A Soul With No King
Been here since the first Aurora reaction 🙌 She truly sets a new bar with every album she releases, and I really like how much you can interpret just from your first listen! It feels like you do her albums justice
Also i cant for the life of me choose a top 5, but my favorites are Starvation and My Body Is Not Mine purely because of how crazy it was to hear them for the first time 😭 Like, I was not prepared at allll
Absolutely LOVED your reaction to this! Some type of skin is definitely the top one for me as well, and btw you should check out the live version of that on Vevo- it’s amazing🥹 A top 5 is impossible at the moment, there’s too much going on, but generally Loving the experimental and dark direction she’s exploring⚔️
LOVE THIS REACTIONS!! your analysis is always so eye opening and heartfelt ❤This album just seems to go everywhere with vibes of Florence and the Machine, Conan Grey, Ethel Cain, and even Sophie in parts, while still so absolutely Aurora. Its def one of my fav albums of hers so far and I can't wait to see how she explores these new genres further!
My top 5:
1)The Blade
2)When the dark dresses lightly
3)Starvation
4)My body is not mine
5)To be alright
(honourable mention: earthly delights)
Incredible reaction. Really deep and perceptive analysis.
My name, Starvation,The blade, earthly delights, and My body is not mine there my favorites I love them to death lol🫀
My top
5.-my name
4.-Starvation
3.-To be alright
2.-Earthly delights
1.-When the dark dresses lightly
Was so hard choose only five 😭
I loved your reaction so much 🧡
1. My Body Is Not Mine
2. The Dark Dresses Lightly
3. Do You Feel?
4. Earthly Delights
5. Starvation
though my rankings change every hour so ... don't trust it :)
Oh
I like that you have mixes my favorites with these from lower parts :)). But it only shows the high level of the album and that everyone has different Auroras favorites.
My tops:
1) When The Dark Dresses Lightly
2) Dreams (when I listen to this I always wonder if I should it put even higher ;) )
3) A Soul With No King (x3 versions)
4) The Conflict Of The Mind (actually not sure as this song I know from longer time and maybe I should put it a little lower)
5) Starvation (I wonder If not to put it higher, still did not decide ;) ) - funny think is that at first listen it was my lowest song, I can not explaint it now, why :)) maybe because it was techno end (which I love now how it progress after this more aggressive part and connected with lyrics - "we are decorated bones" is pretty strong :)) )
6) Earthly Delights (Love it, maybe verses could be a little different to be even higher, but it is beautiful ang longer sounds it feels like something from church a little )
Did not decided other of other songs, but for sure maybe i will put 7) The Blade (she has many references in album to wars which happens currently). My Name is very interesting. To be honest all songs are very strong.
Not sure but in my lower parts would be My Body Is Not Mine (BTW: she has many references to AI on album), was not fully convinces to the Essence on the start too. But still great songs.
Honestly the album threw me off at first because it feels so different (and honestly i will always loved 'ethereal aurora'), but a lot of this feels so honest, understandable and well aswell on second listens. The dark, frustrated and existential tone feels really relatable (in this vein I also feel sorry for her... These mental struggles are no fun) ... But yeah
My top 5:
1. To Be Alright
2. The Blade! / Some Type of Skin
3. Starvation / A Soul with no King
4. Do you feel? / Conflict of the Mind
5. Earthly Delights
Honestly i couldn't decide on 5. And the others (not only singles but all songs) deserve so much credit. Not everything is for everyday, but it is once again (even though a lot is so different to what we are used to by her), so beautiful.
Definitely her best album! Couldn't wait for you to share your pertinent thoughts and impressions with us. It opens new perspectives for me. English isn't my mother tongue and this helps me to understand her album with another dimension and in a deeper way. Thank you for sharing your sensitive and truthful approach.
It's really hard to choose just 5 favorite tracks... it also changes from one listen to another... and I just love her whole masterpiece ^^ Let's try and say, for now:
- Starvation
- Do you feel?
- My name (love that she feats with ane brun, another amazing norwegian artist)
- A soul with no king
- The conflict of the mind
(special mention for Your blood, To be alright, Some type of skin, My body is not mine and well yes... hard time to choose ^^' - can you? :p )
Awesome, hope you love it, I think it is a masterpiece.
Θελω να δω live στη σκηνη εσενα και Shokin κι ας πεθανω!
1. Do You Feel 2. Starvation 3. A Soul With No King 4. To Be Alright 5. Dreams
Because of her experimental nature, I think it's fair to consider AURORA "Prog." Does anyone else see it, or is it just me?
Very nice reaction🥰
I’m obsessed with this album, imo her best❤️🔥
In “My body is not mine” you can easily hear that Tom Rowlands from Chemical Brothers had a touch on it, he’s credited as a co-writer together with Aurora and Magnus Skylstad 👍
It’s difficult to write down only five favourites lol, but here I go in no particular order:
“Your Blood”
“Dreams”
“Starvation”
“The Blade”
“Invisible Wounds”
Have a great weekend🥰
😊👍
Hey, I'm a brazilian and i love your videos, if you ever need portuguese subtitles for your videos hmu
plss react to brat by charli xcx
Not better help...
Yeah :(
Maybe it's time to move with the times and produce albums only in electronic form, because it's a waste of Lungs for your masterpieces.
