Kudos to the kids for this innovative and beautifully interpreted performance, and to the staff for challenging and trusting their students to strive for success. Well done James Bowie, well done!
It amazes me how this group was able to knock both Flanagan and James Logan off its medalist pedestal, coming into finals, and still be in the overall top 5 in finals. This group did the impossible and whatever goal they set they made it!!!!!!!!!!
i saw both semis and finals, i think semis run was WAYYYYY BETTER. i think timing into the flag feature wasnt as good, but their overall execution and just catching was better.. like the exchange in the end was such a big ge moment.. prob gave them great equipment credit.. and they flopped it in finals unfortunately. if you disagree thats fine.. but someone almost got smacked with a sabre.. not someone.. at least 3 kids.. amazing show, amazing team, amazing designers. just not their best run :/
This was so cool and innovative and creative, and, from what I can tell, pretty well executed. Wow. What an amazing concept. They must have worked on tempo and counting A LOT to be able to stay in time. Amazing.
this group is crazy good. does anyone know how they moved up to world class from 4th place SO in 2015? thats so cool. or is there two james bowie groups?
+Brianna Hall (briannahall07) As a staff we self promoted, we felt as though we were more comfortable working on the world class sheet and the kids were ready for that challenge.
+Joseph Powell y'all hit that challenge out of the park! This is one of My favorite show of wgi this year! The whole entire concept is just absolutely captivating!
Was that girl at the piano actually an official part of the team because if she was I don't think they would make her sit there and do nothing the whole time other then catch one toss and run of the floor
I read on their instagram that she was the captain and had some sort of back precedure. Amazing way of intergrating her into the show while mantaining the theme. My instructor just casts the injured people away haha
Interesting that she was injured-I wouldn't have initially guessed just because of John Cage's famous piano piece "4'33''. There's no music, just 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence. Glad they were able to integrate her into the show!
Andrew M idk if after a year you're still looking for an explanation but The piece is inspired by John Cage's 4:33 piece. It's pretty much about silence. A lot of times an instrumentalist (generally a piano player) will walk out on stage, act as if they are going to play and sit there for 4:33 seconds in silence. There's so many interpretations of the show and that's one of the reasons it talks about breaking the silence. Silence is deafening, tout honk, you scream and I'm going to take a guess and say that it's not necessarily the silence thats on the outside and around you but the lack of it in your thoughts when there is silence. My show this year is heavily inspired by a John cage piece as well. Not this same one but one of his pieces. You should check him out because he is absolutely brilliant.
"I. PAID. MONEY. TO BE HERE"
Half of my team can't count with music how does this team count without
carly renee 12 hour rehearsals
The fact that a highschool can pull this off is one of the greatest things about this show
That screaming section is my favorite thing I've ever seen in WGI.
"I PAID MONEY TO BE HERE"
**locks dip**
**nails toss*
Now THIS is something different! Very unique show. I had the honor of watching this at the southwestern wgi regional

I remember watching them live and it blew me away!

2:46 KILLED ME but this whole routine is the most beautiful, talented thing i’ve ever seen
One of the most captivating Performances I've every witnessed.

I. PAID. MONEY. TO BE HERE.
now we got our own holiday in Austin now I think it's called national winter guard day
2:46 😂😂😂😂
Since it's a world class guard im assuming he DID pay money, a large amount to be there...
everyone pays a LOT of money to go there
HOW ARE THEY SO TOGETHER WITHOUY ANY MUSIC, ITS LITERALLY NOTBPOSSIBLE
2:50 favorite toss ever
this group is crazy good. does anyone know how they moved up to world class from 4th place SO in 2015? thats so cool. or is there two james bowie groups?
There's a press release of the show on the WGI website about them being a world class guard.
+Brianna Hall (briannahall07) As a staff we self promoted, we felt as though we were more comfortable working on the world class sheet and the kids were ready for that challenge.

That long pause was about 4 times too long.
Great job, very interesting

She was actually the guard captain!!
MoreVidsByMe caught a saber, run off the floor while wearing heels!!!!!
I read on their instagram that she was the captain and had some sort of back precedure. Amazing way of intergrating her into the show while mantaining the theme. My instructor just casts the injured people away haha

THIS IS SO COOOLLL
im the girl sitting at the painio the whole time XD.. im not really, but i would want that part XD
I'm in love
Can someone please explain to me what this was and why is was so good?
Andrew M idk if after a year you're still looking for an explanation but

Can anyone explain the meaning of the show?
Im so shook
Keep Austin weird
So accurate! 🤣
Any one know how they were able to keep time throughout this?
counting.
the crowd reactions are apart of the music. I'd think that would be a good reference point to use and count from
I remember watching this live, and I remember hearing a really faint ticking in the background so I'm assuming that's how they kept time
That's my Sarah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why do the bigger guards always have to go so abstract with their content?
does anybody know where this narration is from?
a john cage interview that you can watch on youtube. It's called John cage about silence
Did anyone else realize that they were folding the floor with the sabres still on it 😂😂😂
Jerimey Kirby you do that when you have a possibility of getting a time penalty
What did I just watch...
Is this show about John Cage by chance?
+Chris G Yes.
OK, interesting.
😳ummm wot?..... is this I'm terrified
When you coach is on a budget😂😂❤️
