  • Krita is a free opensource painting software that has been around for a while. Krita is a very good option for anyone who for any reason cant get an access to photoshop.     I started to use Krita to do some tutorials live... The UI is a little bit all over the place. One things is the worst in Krita is the selections tools. You have to click back on the selection tool and than on the the canvas to deselect it. Another thing the brushes are not GPU accelerated. Also missing many things on the animation side as well. It becomes a night mate when creating groups and trying to animate things. But I will see what I can do with it. It has huge potential if brushes become GPU rendered, Fix the selections tools, add bones, mesh, remember anchor points, etc. UI and UX is just horrible. Some are cool! but still horrible. That is what you pay for free software.

      I agree with you. I would say krita is a very solid software, but once you have gotten used to softwares like photoshop krita just feels inferior. I will still recommend it to beginners and people who cant access photoshop, but I dont think I will be able to make the switch. Photoshop is just that much better.
