- Massive Honey Bee Hive Found In A Wrecked Rail Car
Todays fun begins in Decatur, Alabama where A massive beehive was found in a demolished rail car. The car was involved in a train wreck many years ago and the honey bees decided it would be a great spot to call home. They have done a great job growing over the years but they finally have become a problem and must go. So, OCI Decatur called Yappy Beeman to the rescue.
About 7 years ago, I had an idea on how to remove bees from trees without having to cut them open. This process involved using smoke in combination with HoneyBgone to force the bees out of the tree. This method became known as a Forced Abscond in the beekeeping circles. Many have since picked up on this method and used it in removing bees. I hope by watching it helps to give some " how to forced abscond" help. This was the case when I was called to remove the bees from the Train car destroyed in a railway disaster.
In this video, I used my Colorado Bee Vac to help force air into the void cavity and push the smoke further into the bees nest. therefore causing the bees to exit and be captured.
All went well as seen in the bee removal video of my forced abscond. We captured well into the 6-7 lbs of bees and a beautiful tiger striped queen. They are rebuilding great and should recover to continue producing honey next year for YappyBeeman .
Thanks for checking out the video and hope to see ya again soon.
Special thanks to the great folks at blythewoodbeecompany.com/ for sending me 5 gallons of HoneyBgone. When I mentioned I was getting bees out of a train car they went big!

These bees dont have a hive..........they have an armored plated Fortress!
That's true. Or at least they did. It must have been hot as heck in there in the summer time.

Facts bro
Bees are probably the most important keepers of the environment. Glad to see someone is taking care of them and not killing them. Good job sir.
I like honey bees and bumble bees, but I hate hornets and wasps
@@matthewwilson5019 same
We need them all guys, bees are the best pollinators, but we need the wasps to maintain balance of spiders and caterpillars.
@oh hi facts ^^
Couldn't agree more 👍👍
The safety guard missed a perfect opportunity there. When asked how long have you known the bees being in here and he should've answered, I don't know any of them.
Lol. Good one. But to his defense, that's alot of name badges to print out. I would probably pass.
@@YappyBeeman hehe
I was thinking the same thing. 🤣
Oh no , Be off !!! 🤣
👍🤣😂😅😄🤣
I've already seen another video of this guy picking up handfuls of bees. Now i can't stop watching.
My hero for the day. I appreciate that you are enjoying them.
@@YappyBeeman I appreciate you making them! Keep up the great work my man 👌
I promise. I have 5 in line to edit. Nothing but fun from here.
@@YappyBeeman very cool
@@YappyBeeman lol man, I get one bee by me and I can't help but to swat at it. Round of applause to you sir!
To bee able to touch bees without freaking out is something I would never be able to do good hustle
It was definitely a learned skill. Just treat them like ladies and you get the honey as a reward.

The man at the beginning was the most honest example of a good hearted person.
Your videos suddenly appeared in my feed. I am an AVID organic veggie/fruit gardener and native bees are my most important partners. Thank you for all your great work!
I love bees, absolutely love them. I think of them as nature's gardeners, tireless and organised. I also find the buzzing of bees - particularly big bumble bees - to be as relaxing and joyful as a cat purring contentedly. Thank you so much, Sir, for the respect and care you and your colleagues show to our wonderful Bee friends. We need every single one of them now, more than ever!
Bees really terrify me, I hate buzzing and it stops me from going outside. Videos like these are really good for toughening me up and understanding something I fear. Thanks, it's super interesting!
What I learned watching these kinda vids is just how docile bees tend to be, they wont bother you unless you harm them
I can relate to hating the buzzing, maybe there's some kind of phobia for that 🤷🏼♀️ if i dont hear the buzzing I seem to be fine but hearing it makes me freak out - perhaps you could try holding your ears next time something comes flying by
I guess this is sort of therapic, like exposure therapy! Its helped me get over my fear of spiders (I watched a lot of tarantula videos) and let them crawl onto my hand
Seeing them at their calmest helps, I imagine
If i see one bee i make like a statue real quick
that guy in the beginning- id love to hear him just talk about anything he has a great voice and accent haha
Tell me he isn't a real life Cleveland Brown from Family Guy!
I like how the OCI official said the car was "damaged" in transit and was used for storage, when in fact it was as you described it "demolished" and the only thing stored in it was the bees! Time to go to the scrap yard!
I would throughly enjoy and appreciate finding a mentor like the Yappy Bee Man!
I absolutely love that you save these bees instead of killing them! Thank you so much!
I loved this. In the Napa Valley the bees are important. And the honey helps if one has allergies. 🐝🌡
If you are so inclined , Please ! inform and reinforce the importance of bee colonies locally to the local government , commissioners / mayor & suchlike
... we lose a lot of bees in California to the uninformed public .
@@mari-leefiducia8640 Bees are in a great deal of trouble these days and have been for years. It's extremely important to protect them.
It is amazing that a colony of bees, left alone for years, can get that large!
They can and do very often. If given a large space, they can get very big
It's insane how big beehives can be, and amazing how they can build a hive almost everywhere.
Glad to know you're not just forcing them out with no where to go! Hope this colony is still doing well😅 you're amazing! Love from the uk✌🇺🇸🇬🇧
My new goal in life is to scoop a handful of bees.
Just sit still outside with a handful of honey, they'll show up. Of course so will the wasps, yellow jackets and flies. 🤓🍻
Wow! No fear of bees whatsoever 😉. You're quite the Bee Catcher sir. Kudos to your expertise, grit and determination.
Every time I watch a video about removing bees like this I am reminded that honey bees are a valuable species to our environment and are unfortunately disappearing at an alarming rate.
When bees become a safety concern around my property my first instinct is always to gas them or burn them out but doing that would makes me part of the problem not part of the solution.
I'm trying to retrain my brain to become part of the solution.
Get yourself a couple of horizontal hives and move the next two swarms into them. Literally moving them out of the mental category "feral or pest" into the mental category "valuable livestock."
@@tealkerberus748. Well... actually there is sound logic behind that. 🤔 You make a good point.
most of us have been turned against bees as a result of similar-looking species like wasps and hornets. Most people won't ever have a bad encounter with a honey bee.
@@ashurean. This past growing season has actually be very good as far as managing wasps and bees. We've got over 100 different plant species in the garden now including a few different wild flowers and there has been an increase in the amount of wild bees around the property but there has also been a significant decrease in the wasp population too. The natural pollinators help the garden and the garden helps the natural pollinators, plus the native bird population has seen a significant increase this year.
Late but, when people talk about bees dying, they’re mostly talk about solitary bees which do not have a hive and therefore do not produce honey. They’re more widespread and more efficient at pollinating though. But since they don’t have much commercial value, they’re mostly brushed aside.
Terrence Lang should try out voice acting he has a lovely voice. I want him to read me a bedtime story.
Haha! Me, too. My children would love hearing him read Goldilocks & 3 bears or Peter Rabbit books 😁
Awesome video Yappy, two thumbs, 2 big toes up! 🤘🐝
Not sure if that's good.....no telling where them toes have been!

Holy shit you are right!
The idea of literally vacuuming bees up is so funny to me and I’m glad to hear they’re all rebuilding well hahahaha
I want that drill! Good work on the abscond. They finally got a pro out there after five years. Great video.
It wouldn't take you a week to lose it in the back of that truck.
He should have called you Rooster, you could have gotten all the hive too!
Clearly, “the Bee Whisperer” really knows what he’s doing!
The guitar and the drill went so perfectly together for a while. Couldn't even tell at first it was music playin! 😂😂
Love the videos, even these older ones. I rewatch these old ones from time to time. Still got that hardworking, nature lovin' charm to em!

Just sooo beautiful 😍 😊❤ i would love to come help out !!! They are so precious all those hard working little ladies of the hive !!!!
I am terrified of bees, but even i love how much YOU love bees.
your passion for beekeeping is infectious. thanks for the video and the service you provide
Thank you for your great videos Yappy! I appreciate your relocating the beautiful bees so they are able thrive in a safe and healthy environment.
Beautiful, Yappy your the man. God Bless
These ladies surely found their new home a lot more comfortable! Although, having an armored fortress is pretty neat…
"Check it out, we got bees in this thang!"
I love ❤️ bees 🐝 and I'm so happy I found your channel. I've "adopted" several bee's and financially support them. I love bees THAT much. 🐝
thank you and all beekeepers for saving bees
As a complete layman, I never even knew a product like Honey B Gone existed. Fantastic work Yappy. 🖖🗽
Im supposed to be working but have somehow become CZcams mesmerized by this dude picking up a ton of bees bare handed.
Almost did not recognize the Yapster with a red face and sunglasses!!! Nice bee rescue, Yappy!
I sure did get a great farmers tan that day. It was definitely a warm and sunny one. But well worth it for all those bees.
The transition from the drill whirring to the music was super cool
The music is sooo fitting!! I felt like I was watching an action movie lol… on the edge of my seat bcuz it’s so scary!! But you’re awesome with the bees Yappy 🐝
Hello 👋 Cecilia
How are you doing today
Yappy and JP you 2 are my heroes for making every effort to keep bees safe when you remove them and to relocate them where they can be the best bees they can possibly be!
Terrence has a voice like gold, dude should make his own youtube channel.
Marching bees into a box is the coolest thing to see
Boss: you sure we got the right guy? This hives been here years.

Whoever put music over this video did an amazing job

i just found your channel, but I love your videos!! love the enthusiasm and genuine love you have for bees. plus all the hard work you put in to handle them, as well as remove and relocate when needed. very respectable :)
I swear the OCI guy sounds so much like Gary Anthony Williams doing the Uncle Ruckus voice (The Boondocks), but without the rasp!
Thanks for the shout-out. Another stellar video
That was amazing . God bless y'all
I would have loved to see how the hell you got the honey or combs out of there 😂

Great video of a unique bee rescue!
Love that massive march at the end! So cool, thanks for saving the bees.
You are a true hero saving those bees!
Thanks Yappy, always looking forward to another adventure
They have been that as of late for sure! Have a great day.
Awesome way to get them out. Happy Father's Day!
So professional... what a satisfying thing to watch you working..
5:06 The smoke pump is right to the beat! Super satisfying!
You got to love a train load of bees! Great video!
This just amazing to watch‼️😁👍👍👍
I always wonder what happens to the bees they dont get. Like, imagine coming home from work and your hometown is gone. Some giant fetched the mayor and everyone went with him.
Yappy, you're a LUNATIC! I LOVED IT! That was a great video. And it was DEFINITELY one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I never thought I'd enjoy a video that was just about catching bees.
I always try and look for the queen in your videos. It's like a bee version of where's Waldo.
That drill setup is nice.
Why make honey jelly when you can literally witness BEE JELLY
Good to see they are saving the bees instead of exterminating them
Music is brilliant....that sound ❤❤❤
There is a link to the song I used in the description if you would like to check it out. Its by Justin Johnson.
Came for the bees, stayed for that absolutely BANGIN' guitar.

Hello 👋 Mira
How are you doing today
Yap,yap,Yappy, awesome video. Glad you're back.
When he said, “ WOAAH, BOOYAH”, I felt something
Never thought watching a dude vacuum bees off of his hand would be the most normal thing I’ve seen lately, but then again 2021 does not disappoint
You have a good point.
A brief dyslexic moment had me reading the thumb as "Transportation accident fills honey with bees."
5-7 years....and no one ever treated them for mites, fed them sugar, swapped boxes or requeened them....almost like they know what they are doing. :)
its called natural selection.
It’s probably because they are either a bee species resistant to them or that they’ve got access to flowering plants not currently being pollinated by commercial farmers. Commercial bee farming contaminated the local flora with bee pests that hitch a ride to the next hive.
Ol bit in the mag drill was just screaming at ya
I’m curious...in a time when massive loss of bee populations threatens to affect food production, and causing concern with environmentalists, are these bees being relocated, or killed? When you vacuum bees up, what are you doing with them?
From what I understand (my brother had an apiary) the bee vacuum just lets them relocate the bees. They can be relocated to a hive elsewhere. Beekeepers love the bees and take good care of them!
I love OCI rep at the beginning because I can’t help but hear Cleveland Brown in his voice😂
So beautiful!
Terrance seems like a fun common sense guy, I bet he's fun to just hang out and shoot the breeze with
He was awesome. I have spoken to him a few times since this video. Great guy.
Train cars and bees. Sounds like a plot to a X-files episode!
