  • Japan's space agency says it is in contact with its uncrewed lunar lander which touched down hours ago. But the mission hasn't gone entirely to plan - officials say the lander is experiencing problems with its solar panels. For now it's operating purely on battery power.

JAXA plans to use the power obtained to conduct X-ray spectroscopy. As planned, Slim landed on the edge of the meteorite hole, so I personally hope to obtain elemental analysis results that support the giant impact theory. (by Google translation, from JPN)

"and no plan to keep this body as clean as possible" It's a very big rock. The impact is so far negligible. The far bigger issue is the space debris in decaying orbit around the Earth itself.

@@Mars5637. JAXA and ESA are very involved with Space exploration. ESA is more advanced and involved than most. You should check out all they are doing, you may be surprised as they don't advertise as much as NASA.

India is the one of the top countries in space exploration in world and ahead of Japan in many aspects but Japan is also very advanced. Japan is only the 5th country in the world to land on the moon. Their landing is a novel one. They have improved the precision upto 100x.
Also to add Japan has done complex samle return mission of Ryuga asteroid and ESA also have done mission in outer solar system. Both of them have successfull astronaut program.
Meant to say in short that - space is also a big domain, while in some tech India is ahead of ESA as JAXA in other tech in space ESA and JAXA are way ahead of ISRO.

Yeah no dude lmao. That would be a super long term consideration for it to be worth it (maybe), all those governments are more concerned about more immediate problems. The moon could be loaded with platinum too it still wouldnt be worth going there for it.
