@@BUTTEWORKS I've never needed power steering on my tractors only because they are not working fields ( wet bogs ) The M-F 50 never had it, & the M-F 1526 comes with power assist, But it's not really needed, But it's neat to learn something new.

@@ACF6180T The MF231 has what I believe is called power steering assist too. I have use to two years without and it was ok. But now that it is working, it feels way better not because of the power steering itself but because the steering wheel all of a sudden lost the 120 degrees free or dead turning making the steering wheel now much more precise.

The control valve is leaking on my 231 but I’m not confident enough to rebuild the valve.

Now you have an step by step how to guide. If the leak is coming from in between the valve and the steering column you may just have to change the round flat o-rings without opening the valve.
