St. Martin of Tours were the best years of my life. Sister Regina Agnas, Mrs Marrone, Principal Sister Reparata. It was a better time then. I finally got to Film St. Martins back in 2013. I had a hard time trying not to cry. (Well maybe i got a little teary eyed) I will never forget those day's. Thanks for your video. X Brooklyn Guy. Now retired in Stuart, Florida. Thanks God Bless. Thank you so much for posting this. I went to St. Martin of Tours church and school in the late 60s and early 70s. This brought back wonderful memories.

Thanks so much for posting this! I was baptized here, made first holy communion and attended the school and church. We moved out of the neighborhood in '69. I'd almost forgotten what a wonderful church this is!

Thank you for this video, I would not have been able to see the Church again without this. The school was also named St. Martin's, at least when I attended in the 1960s.

Alot of good memories at St. Martin's. Graduated in 1969 with a great group of kids. I remember the nuns (Sister Rose Therese was the principal) Sisters Helen Alma, Frances Miriam, Clare Lawrence, and father Doyer, along with a bunch of other great old time teachers. Thanks for the video. Joe Abato

My late wife Josephine and I were married there on August 17, 1968. She passed away 2 weeks before our 48th weeding anniversary. I have beautiful memories of this very nice house of worship. I have recently visited the area, but could not get into the church. Its doors were wide open, but the gate was locked. I will attempt to gain entrance some other time. My wife was a fashion designer, and I was electrical engineer, with a master degree from NYU. Jerry Justic

They DID have a kindergarten in this school - which was St, Martin of Tours and NOT Elizabeth Seton - when I went there (for kindergarten up to the beginning months of 4th grade before we moved to Long Island) in 1949 through 1952 - and the teacher of the kindergarten when I was there was Sister Catherine Anita - VERY strict! I was baptized in the church and made my 1st Holy Communion there (after my 1st confession). Also, my parents were married at St. Martin's back in 1941. My brother and sister would walk with me to the school Monday through Friday from our apartment on Schaefer Street - passing my Grandfather's apartment on Halsey Street - who would often insist that we come upstairs so he could cut our hair (he was a barber). I remember trying to sneak past his apartment w/o him seeing us so I could keep some of my hair...

OMG I cant believe I saw this. I went there from 1st grade thru 6th grade. I left in 1966. I remember that church so well. Fr. Offenheiser ( I don't believe I am spelling it correctly) I believe was his name. He use to stand on that pulpit and I had to write an essay after every Sunday Mass for school on Monday. I remember my 1st grade teacher, Sr, Anne. I was picked for Mission Sunday and had to go for fittings at the convent for the procession. 3rd grade teacher was Sr. Agnes laSalle Also remember my 4th grade teacher, Ms. Ferrante. Good memories from there!

Sadly, most of the Bushwick Buddies are gone now; the site is still maintained, or was, until this Summer. I don't see any videos posted by rdgw237 either anymore, so I wonder about her status too. The only priest's name I can remember from my time here in the 1960s is Father Doyer; I made 1st Communion and Confirmation at this Church; the school was good also. Then the neighborhood started to change, there was a violent machete attack on Knickerbocker Ave outside the public school and we moved away in the summer of 1969. My grandmother stayed and lived here until she passed in June 2000 (she bought her house in 1950 and refused to leave). Still have very nice memories of growing up here. I'm retired now and its amazing how the years fly by these days.

Still here. Doing fine. Just don't post much anymore. If you want videos in bushwick, ridgewood you can watch James and Karla on youtube. They go all over the city on long walks. They have a lot of videos on their channel. Recently they walked from the Williamsburg bridge to Rudy's bakery in ridgewood.
Last week they were on myrtle to fresh pond road. Have a look and be well.

Nice than you from one of your Bushwick buddies. I was an alter boy at this church and went to this school. I spent a lot of time in that church, my backyard was up against the backyard of the Rectory. I knew all the Priests and Nuns at the time. The house right next door on Weirfield street was the house of Judge John Starky who presided over the Son Of Sam case. The Judge lived there in the 60's, he was my neighbor.

I went to school here up until the sixth grade. I either went to Kindergarten or started in first grade here, back in 1952 or 1953. Does anyone know if they had a kindergarten in this school? Way back in the day? Thanks

Was the Church painted? I always remember it being dark in there. Also, when you went to the left side of the back of the church, it brought back a memory of one Christmas Eve. mass. My brother in law was a little "tipsy". My sister was so angry with him, because he kept cracking jokes and giggling through the whole mass.

My husband and I were married at this church in 1962. It means a lot to me to see it now as my husband just passed on Jan. 1, 2014. It brings back such great memories. Do you know if any of the older priests are still around? Thank you. Joan

I was baptized in St. Martin's. My family moved to St. Brigid's parish when I was 4, so I don't remember much about this church. It's very beautiful.
