  • Lilacs come in a wide range of color, size, flower form, and leaf. Arnold Arboretum docent Chris McArdle takes viewers on a free, virtual tour of many of these varieties, by way of images from the actual plants in our landscape. From her long years of experience in the lilac collection, she introduces many fascinating histories, anecdotes, as well as the people instrumental in bringing us these much-anticipated May bloomers. From their 17th century beginning in North America, up to some fabulous present-day cultivars, you will experience the breadth of our Arboretum lilac season.
Speaker: Chris McArdle, Arnold Arboretum Docent
Moderators: Sheryl White, Coordinator of Visitor Engagement and Exhibitions, and Amy Heuer, Digital Programs and Content Manager

ABSULTY beautiful 😍😍 , I had no idea there were so many cultivars and species..I personally have 4 varieties, ..sensation,, reblooming jose, common and a white but not sure of the cultivar ..it's been around since the turn of the 20th century..I would love to get ahold of a president grevy or Lincoln and pride of Moscow 💙💜💙💜💙

how interesting I found this! I just acquired three lilacs - scentara double blue (a hybrid hyacinthaflora), the scentara pura (dwarf hyacinthaflora), and president lincoln for my new empty backyard! I really want to add lavender lady to my collection too (I'm zone 8b but so is the Hulda Klager garden!). I simply must see the Arnold Arboretum in spring at some point!

I'm not on any notification lists for these wonderful webinars, or Arnold Arboretum email lists. How does one sign up?
