Anybody else just really love looking at UIs. Like I like the games and everything but something about the sound effects, the design, the music. It all really captures the child-like excitement of owning your own console and making it yours :)

I like that they brought back PS2 sounds and all.. but personally I find that the PS3's menu and sounds were pure perfection. I would love if they could just add an option to use a menu identical to PS3 including the sounds.
Does anyone else get GameCube and Wii U menu vibes from the music and sounds here? The sounds at 0:17 remind me of the GameCube's menu. At around 0:22 the music reminds me of the Wii U menu. The jingles played when hovering over apps also give me Wii and 3DS vibes. Also it looks similar to the PS3 menu during the intro. That's pretty cool! And I think some aspects of the UI are similar to the PS4, while most things are very unique. This is probably my favourite PlayStation menu so far (even though I don't have a PS5 yet lol). I love that it's dark grey by default rather than blue like the PS4, and the music is so nice to listen to. So are the sounds effects.

Same man. Haven’t used PlayStation since ps2. Since then it’s been Xbox 360 and One. Now I made the switch back to PlayStation and I’m excited and happy as ever with this console.
As a xbox and Nintendo person, I gotta say as far as main menus go, the ps5 is the obvious winner, the switch's menu is very simplistic & the xbox series X/s menu is just copy and paste of the xbox one. The only downside to the playstation 5 is lack of backwards compatibility, its only backwards compatible to the ps4 which is one of the reasons why I went with the series s
I Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but less than 50% of 360 and Xbox games are backwards compatible. The backwards compatibility program has also been shut down. Also the Series S plays the Xbox One version of games, not the Xbox Scorpio version. This means that last-gen games on Series S will usually look worse than the same game running on a regular PS4. Just facts.

And also it's Nothing compared to ps2 lmao, I have a ps2 and i'm still jealous of the other playstation's menus because ps2 doesn't have the system menu like the psp since it came off (and then all consoles has a similar style like the PSP console)
I bought a Backwards Compatible PS3 recently. I game with just that and my Series X, but also looking into the PS5 too. That maschine is a beast in itself.
Knowing that the ps4 menu was nostalgic for me and a lot of others, I know that in a few years, maybe 4 or 5, maybe whenever the next playstation comes out, this is going to be nostalgic for a lot of people.

Get a PS5 it is just better you will enjoy it more, the UI is fast and clean and the graphics are pretty much the same, the exclusives are better as well. My uncle is getting me one i will have it in a few days can’t wait
Definitely PS5 for its exclusives. If you think you'd be happier with GamePass, it couldn't hurt to try. You really can't go wrong with either this gen.
I found a bug in the system: if the game Little big planet 3 Trying to buy something that is no longer for sale, then the PlayStation 4 menu will seem to you. It turns out that the PS 5 interface is built on PS 4.
Yeah maybe it was slow on PS3 but with PS5 or even PS4 hardware it would work very good. Imho PS4 is total crap, it's just too simple and PS5 is okay, but XMB is still better.

This such a huge HUGE difference from the ps4 Luke when it restarts it actually shows a realistic form of the console the home it changes the wallpaper to the game you selected oh man I’m just so excited about it it’s so cool

I’m more of a Nintendo guy too (though I have a ps4) but the ps5 Definetly has the best menu theme out of all the modern consoles, hands down
