- ...unless you are very confident in your abilities, as you are a long way from help! Thanks again for the adventure Steve, this day was a blast. And kudos to whomever scouted out this line many years ago as it goes through some pretty incredible terrain. Enjoy!

Fyi, this line is mostly credited to jack hannan. He also has some trails credited to him around crested butte colorado. He died in avalanche on mt currie in 2010. Seemed like a badass guy to say the least
“The story of the trail’s construction, as we have heard it, goes as such. Pre 2008, the trail was originally named Titties and Beer, was very primitive and difficult to access due to its remote nature. This changed in 2008 when ski legend Jack Hannan moved close to the bottom of the trail and began working on making it more rideable, largely by himself. After a year of work, he convinced 10 friends to attempt the ride with him, leaving out the fact that the entrance was largely unfinished. Tragically, Jack died in an avalanche in March of 2010. Later that year, once the snow melted off Titties and Beer, his friends returned to the trail to finish the build and re-named it Jack the Ripper to commemorate his life.”
Thanks for the history Tim, and of course rest in peace to Jack.
Amazing trail, cool vid. Thanks for posting!
"I'm just trying to find the bridge
Has anybody seen the bridge?
Please
Have you seen the bridge?
I ain't seen the bridge!
Where's that confounded bridge?"
For every mention that made the video there were at least 3 that did not 😂
What a way to go as well, good on you Jack
People that build and maintain remote trails like this one are saints.
These Mtb world class athletes are way more technical skilled and gifted on technicals trails like Sam Hill 17:29
I always thought the trails were maintained by forest elves.
or sadists
To me, this video showcases the essence of mountainbiking in maybe the most appealing way. Thanks for letting us come along!
Try using your handle bars zigzag with your handlebars while you’re using your rear wheel and release breaks tightened up the breaks and releases them and tighten them all the way way down 26:07
One of the best trails I've seen when it comes to scenery and danger level. Feels like a bad move at several points could lead to serious injury or death even.
Correct, hence the "overrated" difficulty rating due to the remoteness!
The crux part at 18 minutes “ looks like someone crashed there “that was totally me earlier this year, Lost the front end and went for a bull ride towards the edge , safe to say aI layed it down as quick as possible haha good job making it look so clean!!
I have to lay down and have a cup of tea, that took a lot out of me.
Rode it yesterday, I can’t believe you and Steve rode some of those chutes after the “death bridge”. Way gnarlier in person.
It's crazy that the trail is in such good condition being so remote and with such a huge climb. The trails around here get overgrown in no time. Great riding, and I like how you built the suspense for the bridge 😂
The insane skill you guys have for riding these ultra rugged trails without falling... bravo!
This Jank Hunter series is great. Yoann has got the Tour de Gnar, and you have hit upon a concept equally epic IMO. I can see this evolving into many a road trip (beyond Pemberton I mean).
Steve shouting "DING" as he went over the drops is top tier. Who needs a bell?
So good!
I'm glad someone noticed. 😂
It feels illegal to be this early on such a good Dale Stone video.
Ikr
Living and biking in Minnesota, can only imagine views like that while riding. BC is on my bucket list 👍👍
Sometimes I look at the Quarrys at Cuyuna and imagine they're crystal clear Canadian lakes
the fact that someone came up with this crazy long remote line and built a trail is remarkable. I just keep thinking about the commitment to going up and clearing and maintaining it. Quite the achievement
Fantastic. Thank you for showing us all these beautiful trails.😍
Just Awesome. I’m really glad you did a video about this trail - I’ve always had it on my radar, but seeing it through your lens really gives some context to the gnar!
This was a full adventure. As has been said already: the trail builders are 🏆 to maintain such a bloody remote area! Just epic!
I watched all and was terrified for you. Amazing skill!
Stoked with the recent content! Keep em coming
"My mom is going to hate that/this" is an excellent name for a CZcams channel about MTB or Powder skiing.
Woah! awesome trial. Nice to see your channel blowing up!
Your bike skills are amazing , and you have a really calm voice
Got me subscribed
That trail looks amazing. Nicely done.
Thanks for tossing me off the cliff a dozen times! I'm battered and bruised after crashing a couple 100 times and I was just watching you guys ride! Sick sick technical riding! Legendary trail! Next time I'll bring my bike and give it a go! Thanks for sharing some amazing riding!
The trail was awesome and 100% being on my ability and fear of shear cliff sides.... Well done!
Great video, a relentlessly gnarly ride. thank you for sharing
I love how natural this trail is 😍
Hella Gnar. Looks absolutely incredible. Need more experience before I put that one on my list!
At times it almost looked like the trail didn't exist and you were just out exploring. Stunning.
Why oh why can't you just play golf? 10 out of 10 on my danger/crazy/don't do that scale!
For the record, it was his idea, not mine, but the "Hi mom" photo I took was pretty hilarious. 😂
And he even acknowledged “my Mom is going to hate that”…. before going back to ride it again! 🤣
@@biggles6o4 You are the problem! ;)
@@lynnstone8958 I'm also old enough to know better. 😂
Because golf is boring.
So Epic! Living the dream.
amazing video! and thank you so much for having a silent hub! 🙏
Epic trail. Great riding.
Some high quality jank right there! Nothing better than a trail that makes you question your abilities at every move😅
High calibre riders dismounting and taking pause=gnarly ass trail!!!
Hey Dale found you on shorts but I'm loving these long form vids even more. Shred on
You're a rare breed haha, thanks Eric!
I watched this a few hours ago and my heart rate is still elevated.
Epic, Epic riding, Epic scenery, Epic, Epic Epic.,.. peace and stay safe guys.
Stay safe man!
Beautiful trail😍
You guys have some balls to do a trail like that. Kudos to you 🤙
Calculated confidence, not recklessness!
Sick trail!!
I saw just 2 Videos of you so far but by the laugh I immediately thought, yo I know this laugh :D great video
great stuff be safe
....or 3600 free-dumbs....lol Sold on that line alone. Awesome trail and scenery 🤘
Worthy watch. Ace’ing old faithfuls has its allure, but gravity chess on the fly makes for interesting viewing. Great trail, must’ve been relieving to make it to the exit unscathed.
I can't sleep after watching superhero action like this.
Great riding
I’ll be pushing my bike down more than half the time I’m sure 😂. Awesome trails, view and vudeo
OH HELL YEAH DALE AND DAVE RIDE JACK THE RIPPER! I've been waiting for this video for two years :)
The other Dave, the one called Steve. 😉
@@biggles6o4 🤦I got so excited I didn't even watch the video before posting, I just assumed. Sorry!
Was ein kranker trail insane🤙💯
So epic! Reminds me of Northern Maine or the NH white mountains
Never been myself but it does look like similar views!
This place is so beautiful and you r a great tuber
I can´t even imagine the time and effort it would take to scout and build a 1100m trial :o
Sick riding and top quality as usual 👌
Agreed, some of those cliff bands were tiiiiight. Incredible eye.
Forrest here in south of Norway looks exactly like that!
Maybe a more touch of wood roots along the trail and less rocky as the last bit.
I used to take my rc trucks up on mountain tops, but it's been years since last time..
That's pretty neat, just about halfway around the world from here!
Cool video very cool to see it! I'm looking to getting back in to riding after a good few years just saving up for a more modern Enduro or DH not sure what yet and all the new names are just crazy! They all seem pretty decent but im old skool in the way of bike name's alot ive never heard heard of so looking into them on here! Should make a massive difference to an old Giant ATX one and two that i used to ride, that thing was killer back in the day actually still is! Was out on it the other day when was nearly stolen! Unbelievable first time out the garage for 10 years and some wee ned tried tk steal it!
amazing trail
You guys are nuts 😆😂
I'm no mountain biker but it seems like common sense to me that you would put a little more space between riders than I'm seeing here. You're practically on top of each other.
I like living on the edge, Angela.
Love the freedom units
"my mom is going to hate that!" lol said every mom watching anything her son does on wheels 😆
Accurate! 😆
I enjoyed the trail from the safety of my couch.
Watching your videos gives me arm pump.
Think I need some eye drops after that. Nice, as usual.
What camera are you using? Looks great!
You guys are insane
This trail looks very dangerous but very nice :)
dang that looks narly I only ride burke hoping to go to eagle mtn soon
These guys are good! This is the closest I will get. I used Mtn bike in my youth but I never could come within10% of these guys.
Sick trail! Great riding as usual boys. How have you been getting along with the Delium tires?
Love them. In a blind test I'd struggle to tell you the difference with Maxxgrip/DD, highly recommend!
@@DaleStone I’ve ran through a couple rear tires and one front of the Delium’s, yup I agree they are a grippy tire. I ran the reinforced casing. For a change I’m on butcher T9 gravity casing front and back, another great tire.
Oh wee marge , hell of a ride..😂
I’m so psyched for you! I decided to check up and see how that hundred thousand subscriber was coming along and you smash that like a little bug! When are you going to hit 200,000? And did you get a beer out of Nick?
Haha, it happened so quickly we didn't fully agree on the victory prize! 😆
@@DaleStone well you know thinking about it you probably should buy him a drink. You’re a big time! Like I say when are you going to close 200,000? You’re now The big CZcamsr! congratulations You’re definitely worthy of it!
Next step is dethroning Dave... 😉
No no no Steve Steve Steve! Ha ha. If that made you nervous then realize this whole video makes everyone watchiing nervous! No no no Dale Dale Dale!
Proper mountain biking
This was exciting, but to make this trail even more insane would to come back during a heavy rain (or snow).
That sounds completely unrideable, haha.
@@DaleStone Heh. I’m sure they close the trail during harsh weather
One of the most fascinating rides to watch. I just want to ask you one favor: when hike-a-bike, keep the bike on the valley and yourself on the mountain-side. Doing the other way (like in this vid) will eventually cost a fortune in flowers
Haha, that can be done.
Perfect place for having a Sonny Bono !
Wow, what a nice place and trails. Just cannot image if you get hurt up there. Im just recovering from broken wrist and cannot imagine to get down there on foot with broken bone hah. :D
It's critical to make smart decisions while riding in places that are this remote. Full confidence or nothing!
back on the lyrik! the MRP in for service or you just find you prefer the RS? (also love the content of course, got me convinced to ride out there)
Suntour is on and off for comparisons sake against something I know very well!
Looks fun. Rode stuff like this with cantilever brakes in the 90s. LOL
Terrifying.
Would love if you mic’d up your riding buddies so we could hear them better. Great vid! Trail looks gnarly
My voice and ongoing chatter would drive away Dale's subscribers. 😂
I'd love to do that sometime, and I have the mics to do it too...
That would be sweet 🤟
Have had the pleasure to know Steve for many years and ridden with him a lot in the past . Phenomenal rider and his one liners and zingers are pure gold .
Rah brah
You would love the climb :D
That was epic
I think I broke my collarbone 11 times just watching!
You need to do this with @BKXC .. he seems to love sketchy rock!
I like to see the different line choices on a janky track like this. Steve seems to to take low slot lines, and you take high lines and do roll overs. I find myself going w your lines. That is what is so cool about backcountry trails. You must problem solve on the move.
Agreed. The pieces to the puzzle are all there and it's your job to solve them on the fly!
I would have taken more of the high lines, but riding essentially blind (Have not done the trail in a decade), means that I was being more cautious, but calling out a few options to Dale as I saw them.
That said, Dale is still a much better rider than I am.
@@biggles6o4 You killed it and your lines were great. I just get sketched out in those slots and low lines... more of a momentum rider myself.
You are a very balanced rider. Dale even commented, "How did you do that with no speed?" at one point. It just shows how many ways one can manage the jank. Dale is better than us all. Lol. Cheers!
Hey buddy!! How were the mosquitoes during that 3 hours climb?? I've heard they're criminal. That Pemby's mosquitoes are the worst. Also, at 4:15, I know that feeling of seeing lines everywhere. L.O.L.
Cheers.
We kept moving and it was completely bearable, but stop outside of a viewpoint with a bit of wind and you'd be asking for trouble haha. No lunch break for us!
As a dad I have to say, “Knock that stuff off.” And clean your room.
Wow ,that's a high dose of Dopamine +Adrenaline.
What are you settings you use on your go pro? I see your able to get both Reels, and youtube videos from what seems like the same footage. Thanks!
I honestly don't even know my settings, haha. Reels are just some fancy aspect ratio adjustments!
I think there needs to be a G sensor that plays with these videos so there's a sense of just how bad things are. We can watch the waveform as you go down this so called trail. Add tire slip sensors and it will be like we're there. Aaaahhhhhhh.
This looks so cool even from the other side of the earth oz we have nothing like this hear and if we do its sooo secret because it would be illegal not funny but true. It may sound odd but was the climb to the top interesting tech single track or boaring bc fire road. You just got another sub surprized i never found you before 👍from down under .
60% FSR, 40% tough singletrack climb
What are wonderful course ..
Great riding great trail .Steve’s accent sounds familiar is he from the UK?
He is!
You guys are nucking futs! Around here if we 2, 3 or 4 of these obstacles it's rated as a tough trail. You guys are riding dozens of these obstacles. I really loved the vdeo but I know it's not showing the true difficulty of it. Still, I can't help but thinking I would like to try it even if I had to walk to much of it. You had so many close calls with your bars. What size bars are you using for this video and did you edit out any where you hit the trees or rocks?
760 for me, and no cuts hiding crashes here!
LOL. I really didn't think so but you were so close a couple times that I had to ask@@DaleStone
Why is it that the only sport I am good at and truly love, is also one of the most dangerous..? (And yes, even with my excessive swearing while on the trails, i do still love it)
When you're on remote trails like this, do you use Spot or inReach or any of the similar devices?
Great question. Steve had ridden this one before, but had he not or had I been solo then I likely would have. We had full cell signal almost the whole way down this amazingly.
We did actually talk about that on the way. My inReach was sitting at home, but this is definitely the sort of thing to bring it on.
@@biggles6o4 I'm glad to hear they're known about in the mtb community! I am primarily a hiker and horseback rider, and I'm just really grateful tech like that exists these days.
Epik trail awesome
Would you ever go back up there again and try clean it in one run? It would be hell of a task but the satisfaction at the end would be immense
I think I would one day! Would be some insane lactic acid challenge though haha.
@@DaleStone the burn is a symbol of how fun and satisfying that ride was
Dale, how quick do you guys go through brake pads??
Every 1000km, or around 3-4 months
id be jealous if i werent out here too.
