Thank you for the nostalgia. I was born and raised here 1950. It was my home for 42 years. Have now moved on to Dorset. So lovely to relive my childhood I am 74 now..

George butchers.. and just below the butchers 4 doors down was a chipshop ( the pies and gravy ..mmm ) we're absolutely fantastic back in 1969. Opposite the chip shop was a grocery store called Lowell's (where my mother shopped). And at the bottom of Attwood Street ( same side of George's ) was Nixon's sweet shop on the corner,( two sisters ran the shop). Right where the sign is for home bargains @ (07.08), and next to Becky's flowers was the gents toilet (same side).

I've always loved learning about my local history, since I've grown up in kidsgrove since I was born, so this was a nice video, plus I'm pretty sure I saw my mum aha

My Uncle Tom was in the Kidsgrove police force back when it was on Liverpool Road. The last trip I made I went behind the old police station which has now been turned into flats. He would be turning over in his grave if he saw the condition of the back yard. Both he and Aunty Alice were avid gardeners.
When he retired he moved to Ravenscliffe House. I'm surprised that you did not include the Old Mill and Bath Pool in your video. I live in Canada now but on my trips home I usually make a nostalgic trip to Kidsgrove

Not really my end of town but I remember going to another Cee n Cee that was near the first roundabout as you got into Newcastle. Used to be taken with my mum and dad every Saturday to do the shopping. I always love to see how things have changed over the year since I left.

Thanks for the upload, i grew up in Gloucester road before moving to Melbourne in 1981. We played down at the Black hills as we used to call them, old slag heaps behind the playing fields, anyone remember them ?

Ill just add, im still a massive Port Vale fan and watch all the games live now at 2am sunday mornings, a massive change from when we first came to Australia, when sometimes we would have to wait up to two weeks to find out the scores from the Sentinel my grandmother sent to us
