I'm starting to get the impression that what BBC got wrong and the podcast is getting right is that Sherlock is just a weird, extremely knowledgeable guy who's honed the practice of logic into a skill strong enough to build a profession on. he shouldn't be othered, either as a cold machine of a man or as a tortured genius - he probably isn't neurotypical, but he's less a high-functioning sociopath than he is your friendly neighborhood neurodivergent insomniac.
