I realize there are slight differences, but the budget upgrades to this are SO much better than those suggested by the Command Zone to the precon. Also loved the Sun-flavored. Also like to second molten echoes, and add Doors of Durin as yet another way to cheat big dinos out, and can help set up your discovers (a little)
To be fair this is the average deck for pantlaza after precon upgrades. The command zone is giving suggestions for swapping to upgrade the standard precon
@canadianbigfeet5428 that's why I specified the budget upgrades, and acknowledged that the situation was slightly different. Doesn't change the fact that the suggested upgrades are generally stronger.
I'm surprised CZ didn't bring up Lurking Predators. It's around the same price as sneak attack and it's such a good add here.
Sun-flavored Dino? Sounds really spicy 😂
The Sun tastes like Skittles. Because you taste the rainbow when when you eat Skittles. And the rainbow is the Sun broken into it's components. Then Pantlaza tastes like all Skittles flavors at once.
Sunny D(ino)
@@crss29as long as it's not the Teletubbies sun
@@joedoe7572 At least that one's likely to be tender.
I was dying, so freaking funny
A card i didn‘t see so far in any Pantlaza upgrade but is sooo good is Cream of the Crop. It‘s an older card from Morningtide which basicly let‘s you scry X whenever a creatue ETBs on your board based on the creatures power. With Pantlaza this card is insane!
Another disadvantage of urza's incubator is that the discount also applies to your opponents' creatures that have the chosen type, I remember playing against two dragon decks and one player played the incubator, the next turn the other dragon deck managed to put about 15 creatures on the field , too much power for a Miirym deck...
Considering a lot of dinos tend to be big bois, I feel like it's better to add entish restoration than kodamas reach
I think the logic is you want to ramp to be able to get to your dinos. Not aftet they are out
I look forward to these videos honestly more than any other mtg content, they help me with the thought process of bettering average decklist/ deck building in general
Commenting to just say that this is my favorite EDHrec content
Great video, I really love Pantlaza. The precon was well built.
I really think temple of the false god is great if you're running plenty of ramp spells like explore and kodama's reach. you'll have five lands. just make sure to keep a hand with a ramp spell if you have temple in opening hand as only one of two lands :)
shoutout to Gigantosaurus, GGGGG 10/10
awesome vid joey.
For me an auto not include, i dont need that 2 colorless ever if i have 5 lands but fuck me if that card doesnt do anything.
Touch the Spirit Realm is some of my favorite tech in decks that want blink effects. It's so versatile for a budget option.
My favorite EDH videos out there. I especially love ones like this that are very relevant to me personally. ♥
I'm a little upset with myself that Lurking Predators and Sylvan Library didn't come up when I was building. Those are both fantastic additions!
Highly suggest your protection package include Eerie Interlude and Legion’s Initiative. Protects your whole board from everything and trigger your commander again.
Been playing this deck list and I’m having a blast! So much fun flickering Dinos in response and then discovering into a spell.
I played my first game with an upgraded Pantlaza precon last night, and it went very well (I did win). I am really loving the new mana rock, Progenitor's Icon, as it helps to gain more value for builds that aren't running the flicker cards. Looking forward to getting more of the new dinosaurs for this deck in the future.
Finally a dino commander that cares about you playing dinos, not just turbo ramp tino your commander. The precon itself is a lot of fun
jeweled lotus and no other upgrades made this deck pop so hard that my friend got visibly salty
Been playing this list for a couple of months now and just wow this deck is strong! I actually got a t6 kill with it earlier this evening in a 3 player game thanks to some lucky discovers. Thank you for one of the most fun lists I've played in years but definitely have to bench it in most pods and at most play it once per game night.
Looking forward to the next installment in the upping the average series 😀
I would want to add my favorite enchantments and artifacts
sunbirds invocation
Lurking predators
Cream of the crop
Cryptic gateway
Molten echos
Greater good
The sun flavored finalized my decision to mess with this deck. Thanks!
Definitely gonna give Sun Flavored Pants Lazer a try. Gishath was my first commander deck ever and I've been looking for an excuse to build dinosaurs again and this is the perfect opportunity
Played this precon at a table where someone was playing an upgraded version. His descendants path hit every time when mine whiffed.
In my experience playing this deck, flyers can be a big problem. Dinos have big heads and little arms. To fight this, I really like chaosphere. It's an obscure enchantment from mirage that makes all creatures able to block flying creatures, while flying creatures can't block creatures without flying. It's a massive power shift.
Curator of Sun's Creation and Wild Magic Sorcerer are great with Pantlaza. Too much fun.
i still haven’t been able to find the precon below $88 (i should’ve bought it when it was $65) but i pulled many MANY good dino’s in the box i got so i just ended up making my own pantlaza deck out of the cards i got and some bulk cards along with a couple cheaper singles it runs pretty well definitely needs improvements but gotta love the help i got from EDHrec :)
I managed to snag all 4 decks on Amazon for $135....and then the decks got backorder on amazon and I'm still waiting for them....
Try target they still have some
I look forward to "Sun Flavored" having the exact same effect on my friend group as "Baby Lasagna"
Since this video, Pantlaza climbed from rank 362 all the way to 71, incredibly powerful commander that will only get stronger. The discover based on toughness, synergy with sneak and blink effects, discover allowing you to put the card in hand, consistency is the name of the game.
By the way - Emiel the blessed is absolutely busted in this deck. I’ve been blinking Pantlaza at least once on each other players turn! 3 mana for a 4 drop off the top is so good!
Thanks for the video!
I’ve been running Gishath as my Dino commander and I was hesitant to try out the new guy now I’m making my new adjustments!
I’ve had someone cast blasphemous act when I had wrathful raptors out and it killed them 😂
"Domri Anarch of Bolas" is an amazing addition to this deck.
I am already planning on getting this Dinosaur Precon and upgrade it, its going to be epic and sick
Great video. Helps a lot with upgrade precon. Second budget list great. Raptors and Act was my first idea for upgrade, my creatures Die but my opponnets to😉🆒👍
I would very much love an Upping the Average on Alela, Cunning Conqueror !
I feel like her average list is abysmally underpowered, focusing too much on FaerieTribal and not at all what the commander screams could be her shell: Draw-Go
I will forever call her Pentlaza the Sun-Flavored thank you Joey
Will Roaming Throne double up Pantlaza’s discover trigger? I’m thinking about doing that. Long live PantsLazer SunFlavored!
I'm playing this deck, I'm missing some cards but it's very entertaining, they've cleaned my table several times haha I'm the terror of ramping , I added a miraris to raise the spam curve
Analyze the Pollen from MKM is a great budget 1-mana tutor that can double as a land fetcher. Works great in my dino deck since it's easy to collect evidence 8 after a few tuns of board wipes.
Savage Order is another good option.
Also why aren't more ppl putting Quintorious Kand to capitalize on discover and punish everyone else anytime an Etali or discover casts from exile? Curator of Sun's Creation discovers again every time, duplicating that further; Poetic Ingenuity gives us treasure everytime dinos attack; Hit The Motherlode can discover into big dinos and when it doesn't, we get a hoard of treasure tokens; and lets not forget Daring Discovery making up to three opponent creatures unable to block.
When I play white decks that go wide, I love to add Starlight Spectacular (A pet card at this point)
Pantlaza has been my favorite deck to play and upgrade. I could not recommend it enough
So when I bought this precon and made my adjustments I had a Lurking predators just laying around and thought " hmph this will be a good fit" boy let me tell you that card puts in work in this deck I dumped about 30 power worth of creatures on just one go around, it stuck around for about 3 turns and only thing that could stop me at that point was a board wipe
Sun-Flavored got me. I laughed so hard people thought I was crazy (had earbuds in).
In place of rise from the rubble, I rock reclaim, and reclaim adjacent effects.
New player here and I hadn't heard of companions yet. Makes me think Mythweaver Poq would be a worthy addition to the deck since he's a powerful cat.
he is on Arena only ;)
I really like your deck! But I would swap „touch the spirit realm“ with „teleportation circle“. When i see correct, then its a perfect combo with sneak attack, so you can cheat a creaturecard for 1 mana out, flicker it and now its a permanent without the sacrifice disadvantage. And teleportation circle gives you one more time the discovery effect for your turn.
This is my favorite commander since Miirym
Would like to see how it works for my live MTG game play.
Really like Gishath and I put him in my Pantlaza deck but honestly I like Zacama as a commander more than Gishath. You can be down and with Zacama turn the tide with resetting lands and using his abilities before even attacking whereas Gishath has to attack first in order to get his benefits. Plus Zacama only costs 1 mana more and if one can afford Gishath at 8 then you can pretty much for certain pay 9 at that point in the game.
Oh god you're gonna make me build a deck again
I bought the PreCon, made Gishath the Commander and have some nice power double effects in place that make this deck so much fun. Plays very different to Pantlaza though.
Gishath is the superior commander.
Didn’t know that pantlaza was a may ability, I guess dracosuar is going back in my deck lol
I run a quicksilver amulet in my deck and it’s gross getting out 7-8-9 costs for 4 mana.
Joey: Let's hope the price on those comes down some day..
WOTC: *cackling into their champagne flutes*
What… does the sun taste like?
Yellow
Caprisun
So many Pantlaza decks running about on spelltable. Played against 5 in 4 games the other day lol.
Mmmm, sun flavored
I had to double check my playback speed because it felt like Joe was speeding 1.5x speed. Love the tech though!
Did you guys stop adding videos to upping the average playlist?
I honestly dont like blink spells for this deck much, i tried some but hitting them is basically just a redo on pantlaza and doesn't feel the best. Cryptic gateway is one of my favorite cards here, feels like a better sneak attack in this deck
Why doesn't blink feel the best? I mean you're doing the thing multiple times? So if the thing doesn't feel good, why even play Pantlaza? Just curious not trolling
I need an alt art for this card that's just a bottle of sunny d. Pantlava the sun flavored.
You need to do a money doesn't matter version
I need to make this deck and call it Taste the Sun
More Joey!
I would like to petition to change the name of the video to "Puntlaza, Sun-Flavored | Upping the Average"
Can we please get an upping the average for brenard
Tbh I've changed pantlaza with Gishath and the Deck plays 20x better.. I've also added some dinos like the Etali from the March of machines and Even won a game with it as its a win con in itself
Joey PLLLLLEAAAASSSE do nalia de'arnise.
I know you did burkaros but i kneed your flavour on her.
For triggering plantlaza wouldn’t the free stuff go to hand right if done on another players turn?
Hand or board, your choice.
Oh boy. Just built this bad boy. I’m ready to see how bad my deck building really is XD
Im curious, are people player her or Wayta more?
My google-fu has failed me how does pantlaza's discover abilty function when anthems are in play
Pantlaza's ability triggers when a dinosaur enters play. It's a triggered ability. Anthems just apply. They are continuous effects.
So, the anthem makes the Dino bigger and Pantlaza discovers higher.
@@RibusPQR that was what i thought but i couldn't find the rules for that thank you
Whats a budget option for The Great Henge?
I would say, it depends. It taps for mana, gives a little life, +1/+1 and card draw. no other artifact does that.
Does Realmwalker work with Kahera Companion?
Yup yup! Changelings count as all types in all zones at all times. Fun fact, Archidekt even has a cool feature that would highlight cards in red if they clashed with the rules of your Companion 😊
What does the sun taste like Joey?
Definitely Sun-Flavored now. Lolol.
I'm somewhat surprised you didn't mention Sylvan Anthem. Since most of the dinos are part green, you get a small peek before you discover, while also discovering for a little bit bigger.
What is your opinion on Doors of Durin?
@@TeaGarrison I like scry effects.
Make an Ojer Axonil video!!
Should’ve just kept calling it sun flavored.
The cheapest way is to acquire the precon?! Not at time of posting this lol the singles are cheaper than the deck price right now on TCG and eBay 😂
I went with Dino DNA from Jurassic Park so I can just keep making Etalis.
Nutz
Sunny D taste the Sun
In your defense, it could be sun flavored...we don't know what the sun tastes like
I named her pants lasagna...
There are 2 mistakes at this video, first Herald's Horn was already at the average deck from edhrec and second you don't mention that you put in Rootbound Crag
Lurking Predators in my most recent game was atrocious.
Like, it wrecked your opponents? Or it was terrible?
@@robotov2334 it wrecked into the polyraptor+maurading raptor combo. I had pantlaza out, so i would flip for Predators into a dino and then discover into a spell.
Cream of the Crop is disgusting with this commander.
Can someone explain to me why the EDHrec guys absolutely hate the snarls so much? They never explain it. Even in they lands episode they basically went "these are complete and utter garbage and you should feel bad for playing them"....I've always found they pretty consistently come in untapped (granted I spend my money on spells, not lands, so my mana bases are a little cheaper). I just want to know why the hate them so much...
I think they're fine in two colour decks but in three plus colours, they can be more awkward, coming into play tapped when you really need the mana available.
Also, if you have a Snarl and a basic say, having the extra land in hand is worse as you've got less spells to cast.
I just think there's better options (outside of Shocks, Triomes, Crowd lands which can be pricier) for 3-5 colours.
Six mana to cast that companion, yuck! No thanks. Otherwise, I love your videos.
