Full highlights as Tirunesh Dibaba defends her 10,000m title in an impressive time of 30.20.75 during the London 2012 Olympic Games on 3 August 2012.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

The most amazing part is how relaxed and in control she is. You can see the other racers looking tired, breathing hard, and exerting lots of energy, but Dibaba just looks like she's out for a light jog

Besides any athlete caught doping (which hasn't happened yet) will be banned from the sport for life, according to the Ethiopian Athletics Federation. No Ethiopian athlete is willing to jeopardize their career just for a win. Please, come up with evidence or at least news report before making bold claims.

Crazy how she can open the gap like that with just over 1 lap to go. Anyone who has run long distance knows what I'm talking about, it is extremely difficult and rare to see this kind of kick at the end of a long distance race.
Dibaba kick is 2nd to none, but watching the race as a whole Kidane is what set it up. when Kidane took it on the knocked out everybody slowly, but Dibaba. Vibian also has an excellent kick but on that night Turnesh was not going to be denied

I am an Ethiopian and feel so proud with the team work that showed how much 'Ethiopia' is placed first than individual records by our athletes. I respect and value all the hard work done by Workenesh Kidane, with similar value as to that of the Gold medal. I can't stop watching this video in my whole life.

Tirunesh Dibaba had the most beautiful running style and was the most devastating last lap finisher, and this was her at her best. That last lap she opened up a chasm! 62.8 is what most elite women would be happy to run on the last lap of an 800 metres race!
One of the best track events of all the time. the commentary, the atmosphere from the audience, the runners. I watched this video many times like a classic movie. Tirunesh is legend. Her style, stamina, strategy and of course her smile is unmatched!

That last lap by Dibaba was astounding and gave me goosebumps. Even just watching it on video, I felt like I was in the presence of greatness. And after it's over, as if she hasn't had enough running, she runs with the flag!

Wow, Dibaba runs 2:45 for the final kilometre and while others run at the finish line, she runs through in and ends up 15 metres before pulling up. A champion; all champions really.

Tirunesh my all time favourite. Her gait is breathtaking.
Notice the other two women from Ethiopia set it up for Dibaba. First Ojuria then Kidane who put on that killer pace to eliminate all but three other runners including Ojuria. Dibaba took the race at the end. The Kenyans started off the fast pace, but Kidane made it brutal near the end.
Dibaba went full tank not even a missile could take her back in the last minutes. Japanese athletes gave their energy and heart to the race. Kudos to them.
