I'm also anticipatingly awaiting the appearance of the future Fz2500 mk II. I hope it draws features from the G9 - being more stills orientated, 6k photo modes, supper sharp lens that keeps the internal zoom structure with a bit more reach ( I do bird & wild animal shooting ), weather sealed, improved sensor, articulating touch screen, keep play back button on the right of the screen, ect, ect.

Awesome review! Do you know the bitrate of the 120fps hfr mode? The FZ2000/2500 has a nice bitrate of 100mbp/s so I’m wondering if the slow motion footage from this camera may possible be limited to 28mbp/s? I was unable to find the bitrate info for high frame rates on Panasonic’s website or in the manual, would love if you could check it out on your camera. Cheers, Joel.

I kind of thought so too. I went to a reputable camera shop in my city and for what I wanted they pointed me to this. Im no professional photographer but I can take pretty decent photos. I also wanted a vlogging camera for YT at my price point. Hell I was using a crappy webcam and got views. I thought even after watching this video, it will be a great starter camera overall. Plus I heard it’s a great camera that grows with you as you learn. I was also very excited about the zoom as I take a lot of wildlife photos. I’m not discouraged. I think for some it’s a pretty good choice.

  • @richardharvey1732
    @richardharvey1732 Před 5 lety +1

Hi Kriss, I like the way you describe this camera and how to to use it, there is one issue that you should be aware of, that is the specifications from Panasonic are misleading, the zoom lens is not 24 to 400mm and F2.8 to F, that is the 'full frame' equivalent, which means that, given the 1 inch sensor, the crop factor must be applied to focal length and aperture, which means that at 400mm equivalent the F stop is about F22 or more, because of this you cannot achieve the shallow depth of field that is currently so popular. I can't help wondering why the camera manufacturers feel no duty to give consistent and accurate specifications!. Of course the fact remains that the package offers very good value for money. Cheers, Richard.

Well it beats the crap out of any phone camera. The test is when you crop the images. Even if you use the best phone camera, once you crop x2 the images become worse than useless. With this you can crop x5 and the images are still good enough for social media and small prints.

As someone who was always a Camcorder user, I found myself looking for Bridge Cameras for shooting video simply because the consumer Camcorder Manufacturers abandoned their consumers ever since 4K was first introduced (Sony's crippled manual settings even since at least 2010 in HD).
Sony took away the ability to select both the Shutter Speed and the Iris, so once you set Iris the Shutter defaults to Auto. Sony do however give you a decent 100mbps.
Panasonic on the other hand once boasted about manual control, Set the Iris after the shutter and the Shutter stays as set. But their 4K bitrate is only 72mbps (even on their recent models) and it really shows. So not much more than their budget V380's 50mbps MP4 1080p rate.
All we have left is the Bridge (or Compact and even Action) Cameras to get both Control and decent bitrate in 4K video.
But I still mis the dedicated Camcorder at consumer level.

(MF/AF inaccuracy issues, out of focus)
    FN Button layout 10
    Price in 2024 6/10
    Weatherized 0
    JPEGs per charge 10
    RAW files per charge 9/10
    Ergonomics of cam 8/10
    Noise from zoom 6/10
This is a great device for a beginner getting in photography, it is certainly not a good camera for semi or pro workflow. The AF hunts way too much but so do most of Panasonic brand cameras. I like the feel in my hand but they should have weatherized this device not the less expensive much smaller sensored FZ300 which makes no sense at all.

Could have released a firmware update on the.fz1000 as ntsc is 30fps. More or less the fz1000 with.a few tweaks. If had 4k 60fps might have been tempted even with a one inch sensor.

Honestly, vlogging in HD rather than the cropped in 4k is not really an issue. People get obsessed with 4k but the vast majority of people view YT videos on 1080 not 4k because it streams quicker. I see virtually no difference anyway. At the current price - far less than the launch price you are getting an amazing camera. As for your criticisms of mushiness etc, you are constantly aiming the camera into mist, or morning sunlight and you haven't set the camera up properly. What do you expect? User error! You also keep saying the image "falls apart". No it doesn't! The only 1 inch cameras possibly better are the RX10 and RX100, with half the zoom and TWICE the price. Your review is way too harsh. You are nit picking for the sake of it.

    Strange...!
Sony lead with their great RX10M3 and M4. Panasonic used to be their main opponent, when RX10M3 and FZ1000 (then 2000/2500) used to battle head-to-head.
Pana just had to do something to get back into the (very profitable) bridge cameras market. Right.
    Then ?
Then... they release a camera with... rolling shutter or huge rolling shutter effect... with dirty MECANIC (!) vignetting... with massive cropping under 4K filming (from 24mm jumping to 37mm... WOT ???!!!)... with the very same sensor (provided by Sony) and circuitry, when Sony improved that sensor (with stack conception, new software, back-lighting, low consumption)... with the very same lens (OK Sony did similarly, but up to 600mm and constant focal values all across video modes)... with... well, enough said !
Dear Panasonic, some 12 years ago you were rulling point-and-shoot / compact / bridge cameras markets. But it takes wide-opened eyes to stay in the lead. You prefered to hide yours behind... (illusions ?).
And most of all... please, don't label your camera with a huge/red "II" when it does, most of the time, just what the previous generation was doing.
That's kinda insulting for us, (potential) customers... we're not insects in the night, can you figure that !?
But not so much potential, or actual, at all in the end !!!
