The fact that the Dragonborn never used Dragon Aspect, which basically unleashes their full potential for a short time, shows how they were never in any real danger throughout the fight
also they said they gave him his fully maxed and every item in game bro could’ve just used an elder scroll and no diffed he didn’t use ethereal form or the disarm shout most forms of magic or his werewolf form
yeah plus they only used 2 daedric artefacts
I feel like that's more of a budget and time issue than anything else. Both of these characters have absurdly massive arsenals things are gonna have to be left out both in animation and analysis.
the worst part about this fight is that the dragonborn was holding back 90% of his full power. the only thing the dragonborn was annoyed by is the chosen undead coming back thing and even that wasn't anything
The fact that they cut out so many of the weapons and abilities of both fighters makes me believe that this should have been a season finale episode instead. The budget for those is better and would have allowed a wider arsenal and longer fight. But let’s be honest: from the sounds of it, it wouldn’t have mattered much outcomewise
For the most part, in the Elder Scrolls series, each game is named after the nation or region it mainly takes place in. There is currently a mod community trying to make an ultimate, all nations spanning, super modpack, however it has taken over 10 yrs, and we are only now getting close-ish to the first 2 of like 23 nations finished
Are those two at least the cool ones like Aldmeris and Blackmarch or is it just Cyrodill again?
1 and 4 being the exception for those that didn't know.

Skywind is a Morrowind remake, Skyblivion is an Oblivion remake, but Beyond Skyrim: Cyrodiil (and all the other Beyond Skyrim projects) are straight-up Skyrim expansions. Skyblivion actually has a release window a couple of years from now, Beyond Skyrim has a "small" preview release around Bruma, and Skywind... well, the project is still alive and they keep making trailers showing off new stuff.
The song, "Fireborn", was apparently done with a fan choir that emulated the music of the two games, both of which made fairly frequent use of that style of music.
Basically this fight boils down to the fact that despite the Dragonborn not actually having a way to counter the curse, the Dragonborn is so much more powerful than the Chosen Undead that they would go hollow from all their failures before they end up waring down the Dragonborn in a war of attrition. While the fight was great I feel like it would have benefitted from two things, having the Chosen Undead die a few more times, getting more and more despondent to show the hollowing taking effect and a more clear ending as it's not super clear even on rewatch.
Actually he does, the Bend Will shout can be used to make the undead go hollow instantly.
Yeah, when I watched this and the darkness closed in on the Dragonborn, I was wondering who just won or even if it was a Double KO.

@@faanvugeincynicalassassin The fight animation is supposed to be for entertainment, not to accurately represent their research, because accuracy won't always be entertaining, especially if the matchup is a total blowout, like Thor vs Raiden, or Machamp vs Goro. It's in the DB rules in the credits of every fight.

At first I was a little sad they didn't have the dragonborn use the dragon aspect shout, but thinking about it that would've been overkill. Since that shout in particular, increases the strength, defense, and increases the power of ALL of the shouts. So it just wouldn't have been even remotely fair.

@@demonhuntercrow6159 Not turn into an actual dragon. But if Alduin hadn't destroyed the Word of power is sovengard then the dragonborn would have a shout to resurrect other dragons as well.
There'd also be "Hyper Mode", dealing with multiple summons, and other things that the chosen undead could do to drag the fight out. Regardless of whether the Dragonborn was using their full strength, the chosen undead still can keep going and going... which only makes it worse if they now devote their entire being to just trying to kill you as that could potentially slow the hollowing effect. The dragonborn may have had the power advantage, but the chosen undead would still make the fight last for an eternity if they didn't nerf both of them.
You know what's kinda sad. They said they were taking both characters with their stats at 100%, so that would include smiting and enchanting for the dragonborn, so that hide armor and iron helmet probably protected him better that the dark souls armor could, and that regular iron sword could probably do more damage that most of the regular weapons in dark souls, not to mention all the actual good weapons the dragonborn has.

Oh god yeah, Skyrim without the unofficial patch has access to the infinite restauration loop and can get their strength almost to infinity (well technically only as high as the numbers are stored in the data but still xD)

Interesting part is, they staged this fight to be where a cut fight from the actual Dark Souls game would be.
Oscar, the knight who frees the player from the cell they are locked in at the start, in the final game dies before escaping the prison and goes hollow the next time you return there.
But he's got a fairly large number of unused dialogue files in the game's data for the player encountering him at a fairly large number of points in the game, from simple paths crossing to times he suggests working together to clear a tough area. But several of the cut dialogues refer to the end of the game, namely that if the player linked the flame, Oscar would declare the gods to be liars, and the player a useless slave to their will, keeping mankind oppressed and in their servitude. Meanwhile if the player intended to let it burn out, Oscar would condemn the player for letting mankind fall into eternal dark. Basically, he was on the opposite side of you, no matter what, and was the last fight of the game before the credits rolled.
For whatever reason, they decided to cut the bulk of Oscar's content from the final game, likely because the finale drew a bit too clear a line on the argument of "good vs. evil" when Dark Souls is meant to be about the struggle against the inevitable.
So in this case, Death Battle staged their fight where the fight with Oscar would be, but it's the Dragonborn that showed up instead.
It's staged in Gwyn's boss room my dude.

You already know this but for his benefit--using the Wabbajack can screw over your game. You're supposed to be unable to kill plot relevant NPCs, especially questgivers. However, turning someone into a sweetroll doesn't count as killing them. Even if you then proceed to eat them. So you can lose quests by swinging that thing around at the wrong people.
Yeah they weren't kidding about the spaghetti code.
Or if your very unlucky, a dragon. Never will I forget the time I used it on a dragon and it doubled.

I'd only recommend Skyrim to you if you have a LOT of free time on your hands, because once you get into it, you suddenly notice you've spent 10 hours on the game as soon as you look at the window and notice the sun went down. It's one of the most addictive games I've ever played.

the thing you were asking about with spells etc is its basically a zone of silence. no sound can exist there and the dragonborn did shouts. once the other guy spoke it meant that the dragonborn could speak and therefore shout.

While I understand why the Chosen Undead lost, in a way I can see it as a bit of a victory since a permanent death is a peaceful outcome for them. Think about it, their journey is the only thing giving their life meaning either Linking the Flame which would further expand the already unnaturally long lifespan of the world (which mind you we wouldn’t have to do if Gwyn wasn’t so paranoid), or let it die which would usher the end but it’s heavily implied in future games that this is not only natural but necessary for new life. The Dovahkiin did do something seriously messed up for everyone but it would work out in the long run. Sorry for rambling, I just really appreciate heroes like the Chosen Undead that keep going when it is essentially pointless. I just find it solemnly inspirational.
Also I'm surprised they didn't touch on Skyrims absolutely overpowered potion making mechanics, where you can literally make God tier potions that just break the game
How about crafting enchanted gear that removes all use of magic cost so you can spam a literal Kamehameha wave infinitely.

Killua and Misaka are from Hunter x Hunter and A Certain Scientific Railgun respectively. knowing your affinity for speedy characters, I think you'll like them.
If you want to be specific, Misaka first appeared in A Certain Magical Index, then got A Certain Scientific Railgun as a spinoff of her own (and then another character, Accelerator, got his own spin off besides those).

I do love how this was basically the first fight in which a combatant actually had the means to revive quickly enough to continue the fight. Though the sheer power gap alone means that CU couldn't have done anything noteworthy damage wise to Dovah before eventually going Hollow.

They didn't even include everything for the dragon born. They only included only like 10 shouts in the breakdown and only like 6 in the actual fight whereas in the game he has 27 with dragon aspect which draws out the full potential of the dragon born making them walking gods of destruction and enhances all their shouts around double the effects. Not to mention the dragon born also has a stronger dragon summoning shout where he summons an undead and unkillable dragon to support him. It's a dragon you meet in the soul cairn and unlike the regular dragon summoning shout he used, the undead dragon he summons can communicate with the dovahkin and coordinate attacks with him and what makes the undead dragon even better is that he literally trash talks the enemies it's bodying 😂. Also unlike the regular dragon the dragon born summons with the regular dragon summoning shout, this undead dragon actually uses more than 1 shouts ability. The regular dragon only uses the fire shout ability whereas the undead dragon can use soul tear, the frost shout etc. Also the dawnbreaker technically isn't the strongest daedric weapon in the game. Theres stronger weapons in the lore like the dagger of mehrunes dagon which has a chance to insta kill an enemy, a big ass samurai sword that drains life force and becomes stronger etc. Also the dragon rend shout in the game forces an immortal being to experience mortality. People just think it is only useful to dragons since the dragon born mostly uses it against dragons in game mechanics but if you look at the translation for the dragon words in the select screen the dragon shout literally translate to saying "mortal" or "be mortal" and the lord confirms to forces mortality on immortal beings making them easier to kill. Not to mention they literally used the dragon Borns level 1 armor 😂. They didn't even use his dragon armor or any other armor with enchantments 😂.
True but in the background they very much do consider these things, they used Dawnbreaker because it's one of the most iconic powerful weapon and thematically the most useful fighting against the Chosen UNDEAD. The armour they used for the fight animation it's more for using the iconic look of Dragonborn and it's not like he couldn't enchant the damn thing to high heavens.
Buddy, they already said they factored everything in and have stated multiple times that the animation can't exactly fit everything into an animation, get off your high horse

In regards to the 250x light speed arrow thing; not only is there no reason to expect the sun to be so far from Nirn (let alone 'much greater'), there's no reason to assume that the arrow would have to travel that distance. Its a magical god bow with a magical god arrow empowered by the blood of a being cursed by an elder spirit that has existed longer than the world. Even if the magnus tear was that far away, why wouldn't it just act like one of a hundred other powerful curses where it just sort of happens?
Besides; they don't get to say that it travels 250x the speed of light when the altered light takes so little time to arrive; if it was so far away, wouldn't it take longer for the altered light to arrive?
Its also a little weird they mention that the Dragonborn is capable of carrying so many cheese wheels to show off their strength...but the Chosen Undead can carry 99 of everything in their game without ever being hampered.
@@connorsmith4319 Yeah that too. Honestly, its a big part of why I don't normally watch death battle. Stuff like that's an issue that happens a lot in power scaling communities, but its so much worse in Death Battle because its constant instead of being an occasional bit of shaky reasoning that mostly exists because its hard to analyze without acknowledging.

The Last Dragonborn is canonically a quantum singularity who is literally *_EVERY_* race, *_EVERY_* gender, walks *_ALL_* paths and embodies *_ALL_* possibilities, *_simultaneously,_* as well as an "Impossipoint," a living tear in Time itself, granting them freedom from the shackles of Time, Fate and Causality.
And Dragons in "The Elder Scrolls" aren't just big fire-breathing lizards, they're literally living fragments of time. Meaning it is impossible for them to truly die, except if killed by Akatosh (the Dragon-God of Time/Father of Dragons), the Dragonborn (literally a Dragon in mortal form) and other Dragons.

This Death Battle was very insane and very informative for both games that seems very risky on picking on who to win. As I never played the games but had a gut feeling for Skyrim to win and it did 😄

not a big fan of getting the death battle outright wrong by over hyping the dragon born. It was the potential of aldiun but he never got a chance to achieve the world devouring power. The point was to prevent it before the dragon born couldn't scaling him to that level was outright objectively wrong.

He had the power to devour the world anytime he wanted if not for the LDB but because of his arrogance he discarded his role as world eater for that kalpa because he wanted to rule it instead of destroy it.
20:39 Except that the Dragonborn is seen as the Avatar of Akatosh and Shor, blessed by both Gods of men. The Last Dragonborns entire purpose was to “reset” Alduin so that he could devour the world and renew the cycle. A being entrusted with a literal divine act.
While Dovahkiin's official translation is of course dragonborn, other unofficial translations of it have it as something like "born hunter of dragon kind". Just a fun fact.

my favorite is the dragonborn realizing the vow of silence is over when the chosen undead can make sound and he used that moment of pride as an opening to turn it against the chosen undead.
the chosen undead linking the first flame is also clever and flavorful to the lore. Remember that when Gwyn linked the first flame he incinerated the black knights that followed him. the Chosen Undead was attempting to do that again here by trying to nuke the dragonborn as a last resort.
and the dragonborn respond was perfect. The dragon shout is a reality bending power, when two dragons fight one another, they are debating on who is correct. To dragon, power is truth, those who are stronger are right and therefore their truth becomes reality in a literal sense. The dragonborn using unrelenting force is him enforcing his will upon reality, he's defying the reality of the flame hurting him. Since the dragonborn defeated Alduin, an entity on par if not greater than the first flame, his will is stronger than the flame and he snuffed it out."

To answer the question about whether you can actually do that with the basket, yes, you can indeed. To be caught, you have to be seen doing the act. If they have a basket covering their head, they can't see you. They also said that for this fight, they were gonna give both combatants EVERYTHING, and max all their stats.
And yeah, there's a whole lot of crazy going on with the Dragonborn. To give you an idea of some of the stuff that they DIDN'T take into consideration, I'll go over some Shouts:
Summoning Odahviing was cool, but there's a second dragon you can call in, Durnehviir. Not only is this undead dragon capable of being just as much of a pain as Odahviing in a fight with its own Shouts, they're also a necromancer, so they're able to raise the dead for even more foes to hound the Chosen Undead. The Shout known as Become Ethereal allows the Dragonborn to become a spirit that cannot be harmed in any way, but cannot harm as a balance. And if we're taking the Meditation into consideration too, the Dragonborn will regen health faster. The Drain Vitality Shout can drain not just Health, but Stamina and Magic, quickly depleting the Chosen Undead's options. Marked for Death utterly shreds armour, Dragon Aspect just overcharges the Dragonborn's power and Disarm can just send the Chosen Undead's weapons flying away.
As a final note, was kinda sad that the Bloodskal Blade didn't show up, because that thing is capable of unleashing energy wave slashes just like the Moonlight Greatsword, would've been cool to see those two clashing

If you want to experience more Dark Souls, I'd recommend you watch TFS' playthrough of Dark Souls 3 on your own time. However, their Playthrough is named "Drunk Souls" meaning they have a Drinking Game where they take a drink everytime they die.

The track for this episode is called "Fireborn" and made by Brandon Yates who has done most of the tracks for this show with the other big composer for the show being Therewolf Media
They both do some absolute bangers alongside doing commission tracks for "what if matchups"
I'd suggest you to someday react to some of their tracks by themselves whether they are the official DB ones or commissions as that just sounds like it would be fun, also if you're worried about copyright don't worry as atleast Brandon is fine with his music being used as long as you credit him
For tracks I'd suggest you to listen to for either a reaction or just for yourself, well for official ones I'd go with "Fireborn" (Dark souls vs skyrim) "Hedge of tomorrow" (Trunks vs Silver) "Princes of Pride" (Thor vs Vegeta) and Balderdash (Saitama vs Popeye) there are alot of other really good ones but those are the first ones I could think of
For commission tracks I'd highly recommend "Will of the Drill", "Marvel for all", "Explosion in E minor" and "Devil Draws near"
There's much more but those once again just came to mind first

The next DB is Killua vs Misaka. Killua is from HunterxHunter and Misaka I think is from an anime called A Certain Scientific Railgun. Both are characters that harness electricity/kinetic energy.
Next time is Killua Zoldyck from the anime/Manga "Hunter x Hunter" and Mikoto Misaka is from the anime/Light novel "A Certain Scientific Railgun". Both are anime teens (about 15yo for both) who are Electomancers (chartacters with the powers of electricity.
The music used for DB isn’t copyrighted, it’s just RoosterTeeth (Death Battle’s parent company) randomly striking videos. Happens a lot. Also, apparently it was the Dark Souls analysis section that got striked, which is not done by Brandon, who only does the intro and fight music.

Unless they're actively killed they will never die until the undoing of the world by Alduin. Definitely give a listen to the official death battle music tracks. The very first one they specifically commissioned was the track for Goku vs. Superman, the season 1 finale. After that, three episodes in season 2 featured commissioned tracks: "Alive" in the Goku vs. Superman rematch, "Exo" in Raiden vs. Wolverine, and "You Have Failed this City" in Hawkeye vs. Green Arrow, all by this same composer Brandon Yates. In season 3 he made the scores for Ganon vs. Bowser and Mewtwo vs. Shadow. In season 4, the score for Power Rangers vs. Voltron. And in the same season, from Naruto vs. Ichigo onward, *all* the battle tracks were commissioned, mostly from Brandon and Therewolf Media. And they slap hard. It's great to finally have them give him a shout-out, especially in an episode whose track he made with the help of a choir of actual Death Battle fans.
There was also the track for Shredder vs Silver Samurai, which almost started the unending chain of original tracks, had it not been for Smokey vs McGruff. So the chain really started with Thor vs Wonder-Woman.

If they talked about the Dragonborn’s broken Smithing, enchanting and brewing skills, there would be no question about who would win. (I mean technically those are achieved by exploiting the mechanics, but who cares) You can turn yourself into a god! If you make a powerful enough potion there’s a spell that can kill everything in render distance in an instant, and even sticks around for awhile. Even if you argue that the Dragonborn would die of old age first, no. He can become an immortal vampire and never age.
Dovahkiin isn't just a demigod, they are a Shezzarine, a spiritual fragment of the sundered god Lorkhan/Shezzarr, who created the mortal plane of Mundus and was broken to pieces by the other Aedra for it.

Lorkhan didn't create an entire Universe, Anu and Padomay did. Lorkhan was a god who made Aedra create Nirn, the mortal plane.

I actually first saw this fight mid because i didn’t care about the fight of two chapters from games i didn't care about, but looking back at it with all well the fight is with the characters with their fighting style, weapons, and music, it’s in the top tier for me

Killua is from Hunter X Hunter which I believe you will enjoy, Mikasa is from the Toaru series, a series of currently three different anime in one verse. Both use electricity, highly intelligent middle school aged prodigies of what they do in their worlds.
If the dragonborn chugs a billion% fortify restoration potion crafted using the enchanting/alchemy exploit, they can cast stendars aura and insta kill evey undead in a 5 cell radius from their position, which is the entire draw distance of the game word, so in effect every undead in existance and, most likely, crash the game in the process.
As someone whose favorite spell happens to be Vow of Silence, let me remind those who forgot that the spell also afflicts the CASTER. Not being able to cast spells yourself is definitely an easier fate than getting yelled to death, sure, but it is still the Dragonborn.
Easy Dragonborn when-
Well the CU relies far less on their magic then the dragonborn does so itd affect them way less. In a magicless battle, the two are really even. And its like a certain organisation once told Margaret Thatcher: "You need to be lucky everytime, we only need to be lucky once".
The only 2 minor complaints id have would be we didnt get an energy blade clash between the moon blade & the Dovahkiin's Bloodskaal blade. The other is it should have been Durhneviir, not Odavhiin, as the dragon summon moreso for thematically fitting BUT those are just nitpicks
Even so, still an incredibly solid episode

Dovakiin has a limit, Superman does not. Even King Kai says that to Goku after he fought Superman in Death Battle. Pitting Superman against anyone but the SSS Legendary tier powerhouses is a flawless victory for Supes.

Misaka is that lightning girl, she is a side character in two anime, and the MC in another anime. Yeah,🤔 she is in 3 anime series, and she is a badass for a schoolgirl in a slice of life anime. you should take the time to watch those three-anime series they are bad ass.

I don't think it would have made a dent in the outcome, however.
In the fight the Dragonborn should have been wearing either dragon bone or dragon scale armor instead of the basic armor that you can loot off the first bandit you kill. He also started off with an iron sword instead of a dragon bone sword also Ariel's Bow is used mainly with sunhallowed arrows which cause small explosions of sunlight on impact that deal burning damage. Also by max level the Dragonborn would have enchanted his armor to heal himself and restore his magic and stamina almost instantly since if you do it right ability boosting potions can be made up to a ridiculous level of power. I would have liked to see them clash the lighting storm spell against the soul stream spell.
They also didn't use Dragon Aspect and had the Dragonborn using Novice level spells. I think they had the Dragonborn in some of the worst armor as well as starting out with a iron/steel sword and shield simply due to the fact that this is the equipment that the Dragonborn uses in the trailers.
This does mean that they really held the Dragonborn back for the animation but it didn't really matter as he would still win.
the Chosen Undead's respawns have nothing to do with bonfires, they just respawn at the closest one. They've shown they don't actually need them in canon, and yet everyone thinks blowing them out is what matters, which wasn't even the case in the fight lmao. It's about either turning him mortal with Dragonrend or forcing him to go Hollow, and since the Dragonborn had regenerating mana and a bigger arsenal, he could keep the fight going for long enough to win
I think that hit with Smough's Greathammer should have ended the dragonborn. Everyone knows the dragonborn is weak vs. Yeet. Just ask any Skyrim giant. They even showed it in the intro vids

Dovahkiin can learn to do most of these in the game. Lore wise, he can learn all of these and more. The only thing he can't learn at all to my knowledge is the one that would let him devour the Universe and every timeline said universe has. Only Alduin: The World-Eater can do that.

They got a good bit of Souls lore wrong. The First Flame didn't create the flow of time or energy, it gave a reference point. When everything is the same dull grey, what _is_ light or dark? When you have no frame of reference for how long it's been since something happened, does time exist? When everything everywhere is the same temperature, what is heat or cold? How would you know what cold even IS if you've never been warm? What the Flame did was create _CONTRAST_ and create a frame of reference. Now that heat exists, people are _capable_ of knowing what cold is. Now that the start of the Flame is remembered as something actually happening, time exists, because you have a _starting point._
Well, yeah, but it's sort of a tough concept to get across in a 30 second lore dump
