- Is the John Deere Combine like a Big Race Car????? Drought Harvest 2022
In today's video, you can see our huge wheat fields and how terrible the harvest is. Six bushels (one bushel is 60 pounds) of wheat per acre compared with 70+ bushels of wheat per acre normally. The crop is over 10 times LESS than a normal year! Our goal is to make the best of it and have fun harvesting no matter what. Dad thinks I'm driving my combine like a go-cart or race car because I am going too fast on my turns!!!! I like waiving to our neighbors who are harvesting in their Case IH combines. My family loves John Deere equipment and we are proud to drive these big green machines! I see quite a few hawks in the field today, which is awesome!!!! Dad and Darcy are driving combines with me. Steve Whal is driving the semi-truck and he even hops in my combine to give me some pointers when I am dumping wheat into the semi-truck! This is the real thing and not a farming simulator! I try not to make mistakes because they are very costly. Overall we are trying to make the best of a terrible crop because smiling is a lot better than complaining. We can't control the weather or the drought and we understand that with great crop years come some bad crop years like this one. Dad did a great job with the drone footage. Thank you, Dad! My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
Kate is a breath of fresh air. She gives us a good look at the life of a farmer and al the long hours they work. This is real and I have much respect for the men and women who put food on my plate. God Bless the farmer. :(

We cut or wheat, rice, and grain sourghum, soy beans with our regular grain geaders we had combines one with spreader, and the other had a chopper I always preferred the chopper the processed mulch help so much with getting the next crop in.either minimum tillage or full tillage.

Why do the Red axial flo combines continue to put more clean grain per acre in the bin than their competitors?

@@robertross1352 I've run both. The red ones clean better, but throw more grain out the back. Grain elevators pay you for #2 grain. No premium for cleaner grain. So I'd rather put more in the bin. Even if it's not as clean....

I will continue praying for your family and your part of Montana to receive much needed rain. It needs to hold off, until the harvest is finished.
I saw you received a comment about why John Deere's are painted green. I won't get into a disagreement with another of your subscribers/viewers. This took place in 1954, my father bought a new John Deere 60, with a 3 bottom 16 inch plow. The neighbor bought a new Farmall M (I don't know if it was a Super M or not), with a 4 bottom 14 inch plow. These two men were always talking about which tractor/color was better! They had a plowing contest. After they made their comparison. My father hooked onto the IH 4 bottom plow. Let's just say the neighbor left without saying a word. Now there is a reason why the John Deere did a good job. Back before John Deere bought another tractor manufacturer and began selling John Deere Tractors. John Deere realized an important part. Farmer's were always pushing their equipment past their limits. So John Deere during the years of building their 2-cylinder Tractors, always rated their tractors for 1 bottom less, than what the tractor was built to do. Which is a big reason, why John Deere's normally held up better.

Here in Oz we had a Dingo the past few days hanging around. Looking for rodents to eat I think, I see the Hawks here always eating mice n rats. There was a lot of parrots in the Cane also, green and red.

Awesome!!! Kate by keeping the straw in the field and spreading it out evenly , you will rise the organic matter in the soil to retain more moisture. Plus by covering the soil with straw it will shade and protect the soil from dying out. God bless you are one brave lady.

Yes.. 5-6 bushels and acre is very sad, hopefully you get better results with the other crops. Wow!! a sighting of Darcy The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Hey Kate. I appreciate your comment about caring for nature. It's a misconception that farmers hate nature and the environment. I've had people ask me why I hate the environment since I farm and why I raise livestock as they are concerned about those practices. I've said before that the first step that a farmer who doesn't like nature should take is to quit farming entirely and that nearly all livestock farmers who don't intend to treat their animals well don't start raising livestock in the first place. It's certainly good that you are taking some time in your videos to dispel some of these myths.

Usually by dove season (Sept 1 in South Tx) we see the Hawks. Always wonder where they come from and where they go. Have already seen a few, once they start migrating then you know the cold fronts will follow.
