I think there will be issues this weekend. Practice and Quali will be affected by the weather. Max may only reach 11th if he gets pole. Checo, however, will get his intended performance. I think Checo really has a chance to show how good he is this weekend. If he chooses to take this chance and perform like he did back in Baku 2023 and show he can fight, this will highlight his talent to the other teams. I don't think Horner can necessarily keep Perez given the recent pitfalls in performance but this is necessary if Perez wants to keep in F1 or even motorsport as a whole. Max will have a greater fight this weekend. While he may perform well at Spa Francorchamps per his history, his pit strategy needs to be on point if he wants to enter the top 5. I'm sure Hannah and the pit team are fighting to get this strategy as perfect as they can. Also, there will likely be a safety car this weekend. Recent performance across the grid has been decent but lock ups are currently a real major threat. Thanks for the Vid, Law!

Redbull limiting maxs sim racing could be a straw too far for him. Not just for the reason that he loves his sim racing, but because it means they’re putting the blame on him. Yes he was cranky but he was right. His team completely messed up his strategy and he is no longer in the fastest car. Considering that Mercedes were willing to pay €100m, redbull have lost newey going into a new set of regulations with a new engine that may or may not perform well. I was sceptical at first about max going to Mercedes but they have now won 2 races in a row, and are now faster than Redbull and they have no controversies this year. Redbull will likely not win both championships next year and will struggle with the new regs, this could be a new chapter for max

I was curious about the prediction of Max finishing 4th, I know the RB20 is nowhere near as dominate as the 18 and 19 before it, but it seems to still have its insane DRS speed, and he made light work in 22 and 23 getting to the front of the field from 14th and 6th respectively. @LawVS .... Just want to say beforehand that I love the content!! I have a thought that is related to engine usage. More specifically, when it comes to Max and him now taking his first grid penalty for exceeding allocations. Can an engine be re-used after it has been replaced with one other? Is it possible that the current 2-3 race longevity of the RBPT, that they are just running in the "engines" for later in the season, tuning them to run optimally, taking the early penalty to perhaps cover for later should they actually have to? Or is Max and RB having actual "engine" troubles, that could lead to a more tightly contested championship if Lando and McLaren can keep the current upward trend going? Also how does Mercedes fit into the picture because I know Ferrari for some or other reason just doesn't have what it takes. I still don't know how they (Ferrari) always go from looking they can do something, to "Oh. Ok. They are just a little bit better than Alpine car wise, with good drivers, they have absolutely NO idea of on how to capitalize on"? If they can calm down Grosjean and Magnussen, then I think they'll calm EO31. IMO Ocon is the most Haas driver that hasn't already driven for Haas on the grid. Like Kevin when he signed for Haas bouncing around between McLaren, a year in reserve and Renault until his stable home, or Grosjean having a substitute cameo in 2009 with Renault, had his second stint with Renault when it became Lotus from 2012-2015 and then his stable home. EO31 bounced around from a substitute cameo for Manor Racing in 2016, moved to Force India 🇮🇳 for 2017, was booted out by the team because of the Strollsortium in 2018, became a reserve driver in 2019 and then a stint with Team Enstone from 2019-2024. & like with Romain & Kevin before him, Esteban has found his Formula 1 home 🏡 😄.
From what we have seen, Ocon and Gasly will be wearing Deadpool and Wolverine themed helmets. If McLaren gets another win, Oscar and Lando will be proving either one of two scenarios. Oscar proves once and for all that his pace and tire management has improved enough to take home the win on merit. Lando proves that he is capable of challenging the driver title against Max. That will convince the team to give Lando all the support they can to keep him ahead and help him win the title.
I'm looking forward to this GP so much, my home GP and the first ever I'll experience at the track! Qualifying is looking pretty wet at the moment so that might make things interesting, whereas the race will most likely be dry, as things stand. I think Norris will take his second home GP as an opportunity to set the record straight and get his second win under his belt. I actually think Verstappen will be a frustrated 5th, behind the McLaren and Mercedes boys. I feel like Ferrari will have a good quali but fall back a little in the race.
In Dutch F1 TV, there was a huge uproar when the veteran duo commentators did not go to ViaPlay. The duo weren't so happy either - they both had 30-40 years of experience commentating F1 for the Dutch TV. While people aren't so happy about the new duo at ViaPlay, I do think it was the right move. My case being that while F1 history is great and good to know, unfortunately, this also means the people are getting older. When your audience moans about the moans of a commentator always banging on video games ... maybe it's time to leave. They clearly lost the connection with the current viewers. My guess is that this would also reduce the infamous "British Bias" when judging British drivers and "foreign" drivers. Because to Crofty and the other guy ... every non-British driver is a foreigner and is not a member of the British Empire. It's like they view them as "unwashed" people. I'm sorry, but at some point, these old guys need to go. They are trying way too hard to stay relevant and are way up their own arses with their ego. Such was the same with the veteran Dutch commentators.
That livery is great because it feels less like a movie livery than most other movie liveries we have had. If you know it was a movie tie-in it still goes hard. Edit: I think this is because the film title is super small and hidden low on the side pods
Best one-off livery of the year ..... not so sure, I think it will take something absolutely extra-ordinary to beat the Mclaren Senna tribute. This aint that IMO. But it is certainly infinitely better than the poor left-over ( from the A424 which is awesome ) excuse they launched before the season. Perhaps Alpine will drop the Viry-Chatillon branch for the F1 operation and work completely from Enstone. Might improve overall team vibe, both factory and track-side.

Regarding the sim racing thing, i don't think it is about deflecting blame towards Max or the team genuinely thinking it was an impact. I feel like it is 100% about the PR side of the issue. It was probably brought up that every time that he does it, the media is going to make a whole thing out of it which means questions for Horner, Marko and Verstappen. And we all know that Max is not exactly enthused about having to deal with the Press/Media to begin with, let alone when they ask him stupid questions about whether or not he got enough sleep and if sim racing is negatively impacting his performance in races. I think that if you told Max that every time he participated in a late night sim race that he would have to endure 30 questions from the press about it, he actually might just decide all on his own that he would rather not do the sim race.
Let's get real how many top athletes will be up till 3am on game day. Max Verstappen and Dennis Rodman. Rodman always turned up and did the business no matter how crazy things got. I think the team need to chat to him about time management. Is it likely he was temperamental due to lack of sleep.
Another thought that just occured to me (and sadly I feel like it is quite possible): If Checo qualifies behind Verstappen (esp. with Verstappens penalty included) and/or finishes significantly behind Max, all while NOT having any penalty himself, he could just be gone like that.
Ryan Reynolds’s is really getting his investments worth. The livery looks sick too so it’ll be unfortunate if the cars aren’t in position to get screentime

I think there will be issues this weekend. Practice and Quali will be affected by the weather.
Max may only reach 11th if he gets pole.
Checo, however, will get his intended performance.
I think Checo really has a chance to show how good he is this weekend. If he chooses to take this chance and perform like he did back in Baku 2023 and show he can fight, this will highlight his talent to the other teams. I don't think Horner can necessarily keep Perez given the recent pitfalls in performance but this is necessary if Perez wants to keep in F1 or even motorsport as a whole.
Max will have a greater fight this weekend. While he may perform well at Spa Francorchamps per his history, his pit strategy needs to be on point if he wants to enter the top 5. I'm sure Hannah and the pit team are fighting to get this strategy as perfect as they can.
Also, there will likely be a safety car this weekend. Recent performance across the grid has been decent but lock ups are currently a real major threat.

Redbull limiting maxs sim racing could be a straw too far for him. Not just for the reason that he loves his sim racing, but because it means they’re putting the blame on him. Yes he was cranky but he was right. His team completely messed up his strategy and he is no longer in the fastest car. Considering that Mercedes were willing to pay €100m, redbull have lost newey going into a new set of regulations with a new engine that may or may not perform well. I was sceptical at first about max going to Mercedes but they have now won 2 races in a row, and are now faster than Redbull and they have no controversies this year. Redbull will likely not win both championships next year and will struggle with the new regs, this could be a new chapter for max

I was curious about the prediction of Max finishing 4th, I know the RB20 is nowhere near as dominate as the 18 and 19 before it, but it seems to still have its insane DRS speed, and he made light work in 22 and 23 getting to the front of the field from 14th and 6th respectively. It'll definitely be interesting to see how RB goes
I usually agree with you on most things, but I think we’re gonna see a little bit different Lando this weekend. Also they can’t risk losing him. He’s Zac’s golden boy I wouldn’t doubt if there was some type of clause in Oscars contract to be given a chance at a win by Amount of races McLaren maybe wanted to get that out-of-the-way. Just a possibility.
Well where do you think Lando would go, eh? To a worse team, i.e. any other team? I mean any other team would welcome him with open arms, but he's not going to shoot himself in the foot by leaving. Everyone knows that, including McLaren and Lando. And over the coming years he's going to have to fight for wins with Oscar. Really looking forward to see that because I think both Oscar and Lando are really nice guys (in terms of personality) and hugely talented drivers.

I have a thought that is related to engine usage. More specifically, when it comes to Max and him now taking his first grid penalty for exceeding allocations.
Can an engine be re-used after it has been replaced with one other? Is it possible that the current 2-3 race longevity of the RBPT, that they are just running in the "engines" for later in the season, tuning them to run optimally, taking the early penalty to perhaps cover for later should they actually have to? Or is Max and RB having actual "engine" troubles, that could lead to a more tightly contested championship if Lando and McLaren can keep the current upward trend going? Also how does Mercedes fit into the picture because I know Ferrari for some or other reason just doesn't have what it takes. I still don't know how they (Ferrari) always go from looking they can do something, to "Oh. Ok. They are just a little bit better than Alpine car wise, with good drivers, they have absolutely NO idea of on how to capitalize on"?

IMO Ocon is the most Haas driver that hasn't already driven for Haas on the grid.
Like Kevin when he signed for Haas bouncing around between McLaren, a year in reserve and Renault until his stable home, or Grosjean having a substitute cameo in 2009 with Renault, had his second stint with Renault when it became Lotus from 2012-2015 and then his stable home.
EO31 bounced around from a substitute cameo for Manor Racing in 2016, moved to Force India 🇮🇳 for 2017, was booted out by the team because of the Strollsortium in 2018, became a reserve driver in 2019 and then a stint with Team Enstone from 2019-2024.

A wet quali and dry race is the worst combination for Max, he might find himself with even more positions to make up.
From what we have seen, Ocon and Gasly will be wearing Deadpool and Wolverine themed helmets.
If McLaren gets another win, Oscar and Lando will be proving either one of two scenarios.
Oscar proves once and for all that his pace and tire management has improved enough to take home the win on merit.
Lando proves that he is capable of challenging the driver title against Max. That will convince the team to give Lando all the support they can to keep him ahead and help him win the title.

I'm looking forward to this GP so much, my home GP and the first ever I'll experience at the track! Qualifying is looking pretty wet at the moment so that might make things interesting, whereas the race will most likely be dry, as things stand. I think Norris will take his second home GP as an opportunity to set the record straight and get his second win under his belt. I actually think Verstappen will be a frustrated 5th, behind the McLaren and Mercedes boys. I feel like Ferrari will have a good quali but fall back a little in the race.
In Dutch F1 TV, there was a huge uproar when the veteran duo commentators did not go to ViaPlay. The duo weren't so happy either - they both had 30-40 years of experience commentating F1 for the Dutch TV. While people aren't so happy about the new duo at ViaPlay, I do think it was the right move.
My case being that while F1 history is great and good to know, unfortunately, this also means the people are getting older. When your audience moans about the moans of a commentator always banging on video games ... maybe it's time to leave. They clearly lost the connection with the current viewers.
My guess is that this would also reduce the infamous "British Bias" when judging British drivers and "foreign" drivers. Because to Crofty and the other guy ... every non-British driver is a foreigner and is not a member of the British Empire. It's like they view them as "unwashed" people.
I'm sorry, but at some point, these old guys need to go. They are trying way too hard to stay relevant and are way up their own arses with their ego. Such was the same with the veteran Dutch commentators.

Best one-off livery of the year ..... not so sure, I think it will take something absolutely extra-ordinary to beat the Mclaren Senna tribute. This aint that IMO. But it is certainly infinitely better than the poor left-over ( from the A424 which is awesome ) excuse they launched before the season. Perhaps Alpine will drop the Viry-Chatillon branch for the F1 operation and work completely from Enstone. Might improve overall team vibe, both factory and track-side.

Regarding the sim racing thing, i don't think it is about deflecting blame towards Max or the team genuinely thinking it was an impact. I feel like it is 100% about the PR side of the issue. It was probably brought up that every time that he does it, the media is going to make a whole thing out of it which means questions for Horner, Marko and Verstappen. And we all know that Max is not exactly enthused about having to deal with the Press/Media to begin with, let alone when they ask him stupid questions about whether or not he got enough sleep and if sim racing is negatively impacting his performance in races. I think that if you told Max that every time he participated in a late night sim race that he would have to endure 30 questions from the press about it, he actually might just decide all on his own that he would rather not do the sim race.

Another thought that just occured to me (and sadly I feel like it is quite possible): If Checo qualifies behind Verstappen (esp. with Verstappens penalty included) and/or finishes significantly behind Max, all while NOT having any penalty himself, he could just be gone like that.
