This situation is totally different than today's Kiessling goal.

There is no way a referee or a linesman should've ever given this "goal". The player (Helmer) was outside of the goal, the ball was outside of the goal... How on Earth?!
But replaying the whole match is an equally bad decision. They should've replayed only the part of the match that was after this ghost goal. Anything before this should've stood.

I think i see what the ref saw. I think the way the ball bounced up and the keeper knocked the ball away made it look like it actually bounced forward over the goal line not straigh up and the keep hit it out of the goal. I think that may have been what he saw, even if it didn't happen

Funny thing: Had Nüremberg not requested a rematch, they wouldn't have got relegated while Bayern wouldn't have won the Bundesliga. Bayern won the rematch 5-0, that gave them the title as well as pushed Nüremberg down the 2nd Division. 😜

Not true - had the 2-1 result stood, Nüremberg would still have been relegated on goal difference and Bayern would still have won the Bundesliga by 1 point.
