I woke up April 12th 2016 and I got a call saying my best friend died. The Basement concert that I've been wanting to go to for months just so happened to be April 12th. It was a shitty day but being able to go to their concert really made me feel alive and happy and I love them for it.

This song manages to instill a sense of belonging and nostalgia, yet also great sadness for me.
There's not a lot of songs that hit me like that, a surprising amount are by Basement.

How can anyone complain about a band taking influence from the Pixies? This is some of the best music I have heard in years.
Pixies brought extreme dynamics into grunge/rock/punk, and this is the single best example of a band using this technique to a fucking amazing standard after that period.

The only part that sort of resembles "Where is My Mind?" is the rhythm and guitar melody. That's how music is, good artists taking cues from older good artists and putting their own spin on it. That's how its always been, get over the fact that they sound a little like the Pixies here.
I feel like their influences lie heavily within that era of music but they made it their own and it’s awesome as fuck

@@claudiasolomon1123Idk what 4/4 means not a musician but while there is technically an infinite amount of “riffs” that a guitarist could make, when they are making a song that needs to fit into a certain genre, needs to be overall short enough to get radio play, and has to have a pattern that is repeatable enough within that overall short song length than the amount riffs that are unique enough to not be confused with others does become finite. Genres like progressive rock that often have songs of much longer length and more complex and changing patterns remove some of those restrictions.

I know a lot of people are saying sunny day real estate, pixies, deftones.. which ya they're post rock and most of their other stuff reflects that more, but this song especially gives me more melodic hardcore/post hardcore vibes... like it reminds me more of comadre, stay gold, saves the day
