  • It's our last Indiana Jones review. Hopefully this will be the LAST Indiana Jones movie. An elderly Harrison Ford tries to relive his youth by joining a young woman on an adventure to find a time travel device. We have been dreading seeing this movie but were we wrong? While it would have been too late to do this now, here's an idea. They should have combined the search for a holy relic with one of the last great conquests of the heroic age of exploration. In other words, if the final Indiana Jones movie had taken place in the 50s, they could have had him retrieving or finally hiding a relic on Mount Everest before passing away. The Asylum knockoff could have set it on the moon. Also we need Mutt 'n Nam.

Yet here comes Helena, trying to steal Indy’s half of the Dial so she can sell it and make a quick buck. They really tried to replace Indy with a character that doesn’t have his charisma or morals, and is basically his polar opposite…

      @@HackTheMovies Well, he was hired by Lao Che specifically to find those remains. Sure, that isn’t exactly noble of him, but we also don’t know if those diamonds had some historical value themselves or were just regular diamonds. Either way, he was fulfilling a deal he made with Lao Che prior to the start of Temple Of Doom.
      But yeah, it is a bit of a plothole to show Indy trading the remains of an emperor to a crime boss, then in the next movie say that he had been adamant about preserving historical artifacts since he was a teenager.

    Second, to answer Tony's question from another review as to why people all of a sudden hate Katleen Kennedy even though she was involved with classic films like OG Star Wars, Spielberg stated that Katleen was nothing more than a assistant and not a very good one. Katleen would even interrupt conversations between Spielberg and Lucas by inputting stupid ideas like if the protagonist gets the dog instead of the girl.

    Indiana Jones can still exist. Just not as the main protagonist. As a professor, they should have and still might be able, to let him play that role. My idea for a fun IJ movie going forward. His teaching students inspires a non-related person to go on crazy adventures. Meanwhile to OG Indiana Jones, keeps going to him and his reply is, yep been there and done that. 1st act, new character being inspired, 2nd act huge failure, then seeks advise from IJ, 3rd act success. Lay in all the normal tropes we expect out of an IJ movie. There ya go. The IP continues in a way that doesn't demand Harrison Ford to be the main focus.

    My first thought when they took off his hood and he turned his head was "wow this looks fake". It looked about as good as a PS4 game. Decent sure, but for a feature film it was embarrassing. Beyond that I don't like the new characters that dominated the movie. They have Indy tied up inside a plane while these two other characters chase after him. If Indy can't be the one rescuing someone, just don't make the movie. And then of course they had to throw in "A British Tar" because we have to redo everything that was in the old movies for fan service. Also after everything Indiana Jones has done for the world, he asks to die in history. Seemed fitting. Oh wait, lets have this random new girl disrespect his wished and punch his lights out. Hate that character and I hate this movie.

      They had to bring in new characters because Indiana Jones is a dinosaur now. Indy can't be old. This type of hero and action star doesn't work with an elderly man. The movie shouldn't have been made.

      @@HackTheMovies Disney should have taken the money and invested it into their animation department and made a traditional fairy-tale feature and get back to what actual Disney fans liked about the company in the first place. And then sell all these LucasFilm properties that they have no business touching. And also stop with all the remakes and make new animated movies like they did with Frozen.

    What they should do with Indy is to re-cast with a younger actor and reboot the series in 10-15 years. And have it maybe take place in the 20's or 30's. Indy(I think)works best in that time period.

    I personally felt it’s was way better then crystal skull. It’s not as good as the others but it’s pretty close and on par with the original trilogy and all the tropes we want to see in the Indiana Jones movie. I personally liked the movie and it had me entertained from beginning to end. There is some slow scenes but it’s still entertaining to watch. I’m happy it didn’t fall into the same trap as Star Wars did.

    They call it Indy 5 because that’s what it is out of 10. The film is a 5/10. Just very average. The McGuffin isn’t fun and is actually retarded. There’s no logic begin how it works at all. It detects rifts in time? But nobody in 2,000 years with modern tech was able to detect them by any other means? Why do the Nazis think that rift would take them to 1939? And why would it conveniently be that one rift right near them at the exact moment they retrieved the dial? Why did the portal open to 213?

  • @bloodaxis
    @bloodaxis Před rokem

    I've said this before in discussions about elderly reboots, they just need to switch focus a little bit, if Indiana was still a badass, but cognisant of his physical body failing because he's ancient, kind of like what Clint Eastwood did in Gran Torino but less of him beating people up, and more using his head. Yes, it wouldn't be a classic Indiana Jones movie like the good ones, but it might actually be a good movie on its own. Trying to shoehorn a geriatric actor into a movie with lots of excitement and action but having to add a younger actor to pick up the slack because the primary is fucking old backfires almost always.
    Edit: They also always have these old people down in the dumps for whatever stupid reason, why can't they be successful, do the writers really hate boomers so much that they want them to be miserable.
