  • In Chapter 2 of this series, we brought Bella's brother and sister, Alexander & Sophia, as well as Nikola's mom, Ivanka, to meet the dogs and see what Unega Mountain Dog Rescue is like!
Every time we go to Sun Valley to visit Unega Mountain Dog Rescue, we are working on capturing a huge archive of footage of the Great Pyrenees and Akbash dogs around the property. As we work towards the 2024 Sun Valley Film Festival, we are currently capturing b-roll that we will use to help push our story and complement the interviews we plan on shooting.
On each trip, we bring some zoom lenses as well to take high quality photos of the dogs in their natural habitat living their best lives at the sanctuary. Not all dogs are permanent members of the rescue though. In this video, meet Joy & Bubba, two pups that are adoptable and looking for their forever homes!

I love my Pyr... As far as little known facts - the Great Pyrenees has one of the strongest bite pressures of any dog. A Rottweiler has a bite pressure of around 350 pounds per square inch while a male Pyr has a bite pressure of 500-700 pounds per square inch. My female Pyr (who is on he small side) has twisted the links of our chain link fence with her jaws, because she wanted to hunt down a coyote which she had chased away.

That is wild! We knew they were strong, but not quite that strong! Makes these gentle giants even more impressive

There is a recent CZcams video about a large male, named Casper, who was guarding a flock of sheep when they were attacked by eleven coyoyes. He killed eight of them and chased the final three off. No sheep was hurt. He was a bit beaten up but survived and will be retired from guard dog duties.
Yet, my great Pyreneese is absolutely gentle around kids. We trust her with my friend's three daughters from toddler on up. I have had large dogs that would accept kids, but my Pyr genuinely loves to be around these three little girls and is exceptonally gentle with them!
Oh yes, my Pyr female is a rescue.@@BellaandNikola

Amazing work, these dogs are worth the effort. I have my own rescued stray Pyr here at home with me and she's the best dog.

This is wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Working dogs are a blessing, and these look like great boys and girls. And they looked very happy that you joined them outside. Can't wait for the documentary to come out, this needs more views!

    Unega Cherokee origin means "white".

One of the founders of Unega is Cherokee and they named the rescue "Unega" meaning White Wolf! Referencing how the dogs look like white wolves.

neither of your documentaries were really documentaries. just y’all getting photos of the great pyrenees. if you wanted a real documentary you’d go to a farm with working great pyrenees doing what they were bred to do. guard flocks of sheep and goats. great pyrenees are livestock guardians and you didn’t mention this once.

Hi! These are just the behind the scenes and making of the documentary we are working on! We are scheduling interviews with ranchers, politicians, owners and more. All these videos on CZcams are more to bring people along the journey as we work on this film, not the film itself!
