For these engines to run reliably, the probably need to get fed hot air, rather than a flame that can be "sucked out". I would suggest to get air running through a copper coil or pipe, that's filled with regenerator material (steel wool, for example), and heated by a flame from the outside. This way, the gas flows do not interfere with each other, while heat transfer is still taking place. Maybe I'll buy a cheap flame licker one day to test the idea. It might be possible to govern the engine with a butterfly valve then, much like with IC engines now.
those are some good ideas. i'm trying to find an example of a vacuum engine that's run on a wood fire, can't seem to find anything. however, the heat and exhaust gas from a wood fire should be well enough.

@@isarwasser5271 Hallo Es ist auch kein Gleitmittel. Es ist hauptsächlich ein Reinigungsmittel, Fettlöser, usw. Es besteht fast zu 100% aus Petroleum und das verdunstet nach einer gewissen Zeit. Danach ist auch als Gleitmittel nicht mehr viel übrig.
Bei einem Flammenfresser wird das WD40 auch nicht als Schmiermittel verwendet. Es dient der Verdrängung von Feuchtigkeit, da im Zylinder eines Flammenfressers immer Kondenswasser entsteht. Und das macht WD40 hervorragend, daher also alles richt gemacht mit WD40 😉

@@leeknivek residue of burning wood would get the engine stuck. Only possible if you separate the smoke gasses from the hot air.
