    I am deeply impressed. As a young'un I could ride massive distances, 20hrs or more between naps, usually in the hope of shenanigans and ladies favours at the end. The journey became the high point rather than the destination. Seeing you ride so far as the world rotates underneath you brings back my memories of the bikes rhythm, the change of landscape and light, the rotation of my ass on the seat and the uninterrupted thoughts and mental meanderings that living at 4500rpm brings. Thank you.

    My dealer told me about this bike a couple years ago. I didn’t want to wait for its supposed arrival, instead bought a used ‘15 Super T, and still enjoy it. This video came out and boy did I get cranked up. My dealer located a pre-order that came available in NH and I drove the distance. I ride it on and off-road. Man do I LOVE this bike. My Super T is so neglected now. Thanks for the great review and sharing your passion for the bike Paul.

    Okay these tenere 700 videos and reviews have just got to stop! I've had a tenere 1200 for 5 years and thought nothing could pry it away from me at least in the next few years... But all these videos are making me want one pretty bad! We have long haul Paul and Ryan F9 giving shining endorsements for this bike what more could one want? I wasn't really wanting to downsize per se as far as displacement goes on long trips but this bike looks like it handles it no problem. I wouldn't mind a lighter bike just for flick ability and I'm not that young anymore... I give it a couple more years I think and I'll probably be doing it!

    I know the bigger machines have been around for many years now and it'll always be a personal choice but I do believe the middleweights are not given their due credit with regard to their huge touring ability. The "lure of the cubes" is indeed appetising but there really is no doubt that in terms of practicality, virtually nothing is lost in using a middleweight for cross continental work and it always makes off-road adventuring (surely the whole point of exciting long distance/international touring) much more realistic and achievable especially solo.

    One of the wonderful things about the Tenerife is that it has torque everywhere. You cannot stall it. the BMW on the other hand is easy to stall. It has very little torque at the bottom end. But it is a very cushy ride.

    • @longhaulpaul
      @longhaulpaul  Před 4 lety +3

      ExpeditionaryRanger like everything in life, I think the more you get out there and ride, the safer you become and more skills you gain because of the added experience only time offers. In comparison, I consider myself to be a terrible automobile driver and getting worse every year. Last year I only logged 1200 miles in a car! If I only drive 10 miles to the gym once a week, I'm not getting any experience and the skills I once had are duller than the spatula that comes with an Easy-Bake oven. Miles and hours on the bike and riding every day makes riding much safer which in turns increases the fun and enjoyment.

    I first saw this three years ago when I got my T7. After a couple trips out west (CA NV & ID BDR) I did the NEBDR last summer. 15+ strait ours in the saddle coming home (IL). As to saddles; I’m still on stock saddle and you’re right, it works pretty good for me too. I did however see a newer post by you with a upgrade saddle. Finally my question; what, why, and how do you like it. I value your opinion on whether my saddle should be replaced. Thanks in advance. 😢

Here's what I'm curious about for a future vid (maybe? please?): compared to the Super T, how does the T7 feel getting used to no traction control, dynamic breaking, non-ABS, & other computerized functionality that so many of us have gotten accustomed to? I love the thinner profile, small engine, (slightly) less weight; but what am I giving up or having to get used to (again)? Hope you can share some very well-informed perspective.

    Very interesting perspective Paul, greatly appreciated. Most of the reviews so far are about the T7's off road performance, so it's great so see how well you like it for a long haul machine. A couple questions when you have time to address:
    Did you install any type of "cramp buster" or throttle lock? If not, wow that's hard core. You must have an iron wrist!!
    How do you find the stock windscreen? Any significant buffeting or noise issue that you feel you will need to address?
    Thank you.

    • @longhaulpaul
      @longhaulpaul  Před 4 lety +2

      Morley Hi! I did have a throttle lock lever thingy on, but didn't use it much. The throttle pull is very light so just resting the hand on the grip was fine. Stock screen was adequate, but after spending the last two years with the 42" wide Venture screen, I did wish I had brought something to wipe the bugs off my helmet faceshield! If I had my helmet open, it was breezy but not horrible. Since getting home I did add a taller wider screen and now can ride for hours at 80 with my modular helmet in the open position. I'm actually at 6500 miles, so far the noise and wind is not an issue.

    Glad it's smooth and doing good for you bro. I remember you saying a few vids back you were trading in the Venture for the Tenere and I was like. .? You rack up megamiles man that bike was not what I expected you to choose but looks like the tuning fork boys made a great bike again. How about the ST 1300 next?

    Curious what seat you will slap on, that seat on your super ten looked mighty comfortable vs the 700's seat

    This is the video I have been waiting for! I have a klr and need more hp for highway riding. Just got back from 6000km today and was reflecting on what to buy. I want a t700 but was worried about it being a dirtbike as well.
    The seat was okay, and it effortlessly does highway speeds?
    If so I am putting in an order now.
    Will subscribe! I have a family member with MS as well so I hit two birds with one stone!)

      You had me smiling until you said stone.
      Just returned from Sturgis where I had a 10mm STONE blasted out of my kidney!
      Healing fine, and yes, I'm at 9,000 miles on my T7 already, almost all of it on the freeway crossing the country. Last week I did a 1300 mile day. (Before the kidney stone)
