How "professional debtors" bring a hidden banking crisis in China

  • There is a troubling trend in China where people are recruited into schemes to take on debts, often as part of a larger fraudulent activity, with no intention of repaying. The term "professional debtor" refers to individuals who take out debt on behalf of others without the intention to repay it. This underground economy operates openly yet covertly through social media platforms and poses a significant threat to Chinese banks.

    You put a lot of effort into this. Detailing the professional debtor scam and concurrently pointing out the immorality of it all. In Canada, corporations often bring in debt consolidator. They tear up the company from within by providing management services for an outrageous fee. The company is in hugely deeper debt, but also driven out of business.

    The bank should have gotten an appraisal on the property (collateral). If they are giving out a loan for greater than the value of the collateral they will be in trouble. They also should have verified the income and assets of the borrower. This is reminiscent of NINJA loans back in the early 2000s which caused so many issues in the Great Financial Crisis.

    In the initial sale, the bank does not count the monthly payments that a property owner paid. To have then moved on to a new business transaction where more money is needed, the bank will act like they lost on the deal but they never did.

  • @francisnopantses1108
    @francisnopantses1108 Před 10 dny +1

    Lei, this was done in Arizona in 2006 during the housing bubble. It's called a straw buyer. They would finance with a subprime loan that gave cash back on purchase, interest only payments, then a balloon payment. The straw buyer only got a few thousand dollars at best. Some didn't know; their identity was stolen.
    The mortgage officer and realtor both got paid fees at transaction plus the cash back. If the home rose in value they would resell for another profit.
    In other states some of these acts are illegal so that is why they did it in AZ. The wild west.
    It's amazing that you can have a bank write a loan for 2million for sale but only 1.3 is paid. Blatant fraud and it sounds like the bank isn't doing enough to protect itself.

    The Western expression of this is, "Robbing Peter to pay Paul". Adding on buying or shifting debt only kicks the can further down the road. Banks are burdened by even more unsolvable debt, added by colossal fraud, and China will reach collapsing banks, mass unemployment and consumption death (the last two things which it already has). And since the CCP owns these banks and is the creditor, it will drain the treasury. Adding to the economic shock will be currency devaluing, i.e. stagflation. It will not be long before the value of food and energy will skyrocket, since China imports quite a lot of this. The end effect of China's economy will make the hapless economy of Argentina look like Switzerland.
