    I spent 25 years on my parents Boat/Yacht on Lake Michigan. Boy was I a lucky kid. Also learned a lot about scraping and painting! It would take me and my brothers/Dad a month of weekends to get her ready to be launched. It was a all wood 42 foot Christ Craft. What a beauty!

    Lake Michigan was my summer home for 25 years!!! Loved it and learned my seamanship there. My Dad was in the Navy before all us kids were born so he had a first hand love of the sea/water!!! I had to cover my small new plants and small trees to save them from the insects! Great trip! Coach Vic is a real trooper!!! They say they are going to be crazy bunch of them this year. We’ll see, not yet!!!!

We always do the bypass around Cincinnati also and go in Indiana and Kentucky. Good choice. The cicadas were terrible this year won’t have to worry about them for another 17 years. So we have been putting some miles down driving back-n-forth down i70 so we can take care of the estate & everything. So im well aware of the Columbus Ohio traffic debacle you encountered, trust me. I remember riding at the back of the pack with 30 other extremely loud Harleys running 80 MPH from Columbus, Ohio to DC.
    We were part of Rolling Thunder (a POW/MIA Awareness Group) and I could hear the cicadas for miles away on the Harleys.
    It was UNREAL how loud they were.

  • @milemarkermike7234
    @milemarkermike7234 Před 2 lety +1

    I found out recently why my gopro would shut down unannounced and must of had heat stroke. I use power packs. So what I think was happening is the battery was constantly charging with my power pack plugged in. The battery itself when I pulled it out was really warm. I seen a video where a guy takes the battery out with just the power pack operating the battery. Over the last year I've traveled in 90 plus days and I did not have any issues what so ever. Coach bob. Maybe if you do the same thing I did I'm sure you won't have those uneventful shutdowns. We the consumers still need to reverse engineer some things to make a product even better.

    And then you run into the godzillas of noisy insects that emerge by the billions every 17 years, a story I'm sure your grandchildren will be hearing about. Good thing you didnt ride into a swarm of those Cicadas (grasshoppers on steroids), poor Casper. would have looked like the biggest loser in a paintball match but with bug goo insead of paint. Coach the wife and busted out laughing when you said cick-kada. We live in a very diverse area (love it btw) of Northern Virginia. To hear what they were called and trying to explain it happens every 17 years was entertaining. Now cleaning them off the Spyder was not. Even took a hit to the helmet face visor, yuck! The sound was something out of an Alien Invasion Movie. Best wishes and keep the videos coming.

    Hello Coach. Can I ask if your legs ever get cramped up while riding. I have a 2010 with the pegs and find mine do, more so the right. I'm worried about taking an extra long trip because of it. But then again, the Border is still closed to us non essentials. I've already been from Vancouver to Montreal but not on the Spyder, too long a ride for this old body.

      Bob says he gets some cramping, the stops help him stretch. But… ride YOUR ride!! That’s what’s important!! Enjoy your day!!😎

    You know, if you had a 2020, coach Vic wouldn’t have to get off when you fuel up. And, YES, get Vic some shady rays…

    Cicadas and flies, you said nothing about an insect video. When you look back, those will be some of the things that make the trip memorable. 🪰 I thought Tallahassians were used to the gator gettin em. 🐊🐊🤣

    I got a question you stay in hotel is it best thing or not? Mostly I already set up go motorcycle camping and purchased every thing I need! I do not like hotel that much because of Covid-19 plus I am single-minded person!

      We would love to camp.. But, Coach Vic's wheelchair complicates that scenario. I am an old hiker so I have the gear. We have discussed revamping our gear and seeing how we could do it in our "life scenario".
      Camping is cool!!!

    Ohio roads make Michigan’s roads look wonderful. That stretch between Columbus and Cincinnati absolutely sux. No other way to put it. We always look for another route out of Ohio…

    Re Garmin, here’s an “Amen!” I just got a Garmin 1030 Plus bicycle computer. As I understand it, this is their flagship bike computer. How do I say this politely? The user interface sucks! Waaaay too cumbersome, making the user jump thru some unnecessary and counter-intuitive steps to get to the information one needs. Still, it’s the best one out there, and the majority of the teams in the Tour de France use them.
    “Casper” is a clever name. Still trying to come up with a good name for my RT baby. For now, I’ll go with my license plate, “4QTR” as in “I’m in the fourth quarter of my life, and hoping for overtime.”
    Stay cool, Riders on the Storm.
