  • Failure was one of the most underrated bands in the 90's. Their album Fantastic Planet is an absolute masterpiece in composition, execution, and production. If you have not heard the album, you should take a moment to write it down as its worth your time! Failure influenced many bands to come after them. Finally well over a decade later the album has been re-released on vinyl and is getting some recognition due to bands like 'A Perfect Circle' who covered a song from Fantastic Planet on their official release.
    Here is wikipedias crap description:
Failure was an American rock band (often also classified as alternative rock and/or space rock) that was active from 1990 to 1997, during which they recorded and released three critically acclaimed albums. They are often compared to other hard rock bands from that time that were similarly labeled as "alternative", such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Bush, but are distinguished by their meticulous attention to textural sonic detail, inventive use of guitar effects and signal processing, and the overall expansive sound design of their later albums.

I met drummer, Kellii (who was relentless), at this show, and he came over to party at my apartment afterwards. Great guy, and one of the fantastic bands on this planet. Sgt Politeness was a staple in our set because it was right up my alley, and I pushed for them any chance I got. So happy this show was captured, and stoked for the new album coming out! Poster Children and Summercamp opened (check out "Poster Children - Junior Citizen" and "Summercamp - Drawer" songs). Later that summer saw them on the second stage of Lollapalooza. The 90's was just a great time in music and I don't say that being nostalgic. I was fully aware that it was a period of revolution in music, a total reawakening, and was seeing as many bands as I could. Glad I did.

WOW what a performance! These guys are amazing. I’m very thankful to be able to at least experience this now since I didn’t at the time.
I just want to know, how in the heck is the crowd so still during Heliotropic? I would be rocking TF out!!

Thank you so much for posting this. I love failure so much. definitely under-rated. No one has ever heard of them until I tell them about it around here. I posted this to my facebook. Hope someone watches it lol

Such an incredible performance, I've got chills! Solaris was my favorite performance due to the dynamics, especially during the second verse when he grunts "ghost". Everything just explodes into high action then the calm resurfaces, hypnotizing me once again. Pure bliss.
