  • This is a project buggy that I started a while back, and I already have three videos about it. In this video, I make it a functional car. It's a blast to drive!
    The body is a 1951 Ford (Upside-down), rear axle is 1942-1957 Pontiac (maybe), front axle is a 1942-1947 Ford 1/2 ton pickup (probably), controls are 1957-1960 Ford truck (maybe Econoline), steering box is 60's Mustang (I think), engine is a Mopar 5.9 (360) Magnum V-8, transmission is 1994 Dodge Dakota 4x4 NV3500.
    Here's the links to the earlier videos:
    First inspection: • Mystery Water Pumper D...
    Assembly and first drive: • Mopar Powered '51 Ford...
    Transmission problem: • Transmission Swap Fias...
    I spent a bit of money finishing it up, but I tried to keep the costs reasonable. Prices mentioned in the video are the actual price I paid at the time I bought the parts. Wheel cylinders and lines came from rockauto, voltage regulator from Summit, and most everything else I bought on ebay.
    Also, here's a link to the Vevor bead breaker: s.vevor.com/bf...

    I’ve been watching you for awhile now. My dad passed away when I was 16, I’m 25 now. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge just like you. It’s been tough learning how to work on different things because I always thought my dad was gunna be there to help and explain anything I didn’t understand. He was a lot like you and watching your videos brings me back and helps me out a lot on learning information I didn’t know. I just want say thank you and keep making videos because you’re helping people in more ways than you think.

    Just the sound is worth watching the video! Hope you can find some softer tires for the rear. Those get good traction but that ride is spine crushing! I used to spend day and night doing this kind of thing, but just can't anymore. It's good to still be able to watch even though I can't do as much as I used to 50+ years ago. Hope you keep posting for a long time!

    Damn that lope at idle sounds Healthy! It also sounds great when you get on it! In the late 50's I drove a dune buggy similar to that one in the sand hills out of Yuma, Az. It had straight pipes with a small Ford flathead V8. It was pretty exciting for a teenager like me back then. Thanks for sharing, I'll be watching more so I can hear that exhaust more!

  • @leostgeorge2080
    @leostgeorge2080 Před rokem +1

    The ticking sound was the engine cooling down. The metal was contracting. When you took out the plug and installed the temp sensor you had pressure so must have been an air pocket. The air pocket was causing the metal to tick. After your ride in the sand pit it most likely got the air out. Might want to install an overflow for the radiator. It will allow the air pocket to escape and the coolant to be sucked back in after the air pocket is expelled. Nice seat of the pants build. but i agree overpowered for what is there. Cam, Highrise intake and headers will make a bit of HP. Mufflers will cut off a bit of the HP but open headers sound so nice 🙂 I would rather spend some time on the suspension then lower the HP. HP is so much fun lol

    i wanna build one of these..! didn't realize the body was made from the rear end of some 50's car flipped upside down, now i can't unsee it.
    would be kinda fun building a 'dirt rod' out of an old SUV, could be an advantage having AWD or 4WD. stick some frankenstein weirdo body on it, some fox shocks and good springs, spice up the motor, agricultural tyres on banded steelies, damn... sounds like a good time. i think once i buy some land to use it on, i'll build a low buck garage inspired dirt rod.

Might want to put some kind of springs on the seats or something, noticed while you were driving it that your head got jerked around a lot and noticed your head is really close to the roll bar.
