    Hello Chris and Pete,
After listening to American Pete's story about being rejected for being confused as a CZcamsr, I can kind of understand why the Japanese dislike CZcamsrs/livestreamers in their shops. On my trip to Japan, I met a very famous American CZcamsr, who I recognized right away at my Omakase tasting in Roppongi. I had initially wanted to say hi to him when he was done shooting, but in the end I decided not to because him and his crew ended up pissing me off. Normally, it usually isn't a huge deal when I see or meet CZcamsrs in the US, but for some reason, it is just drastically worse in Japan. I was sitting in the corner of the restaurant trying to enjoy my $300 dinner, and they were constantly shouting at one another planning out their next film location during the dinner and they've even flashbanged me with one of their pocket lights to get better lighting for their shot. I also did not get to enjoy watching the chef make sushi as their cameras were all up in the shot. Once they finally left, the sushi chef gave me non-stop gomenasai's and I had to tell him it was fine, because I am American and use to it.

My best memory in Japan: Went to an arcade (I think I went to GiGO), got to play Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune (the newest version isn't available in America), I was grinding to make my car faster and the locals were kind enough to let me borrow their cars. I assume they wanted to level their car up, but it allowed me to keep up with them in the races. I think they were surprised I wasn't some foreigner who didn't know how to play and I was able to give them a fight. Helped me understand racers there better. People at the arcades have no life.

My best memory in Japan: Got off the N'EX in Tokyo station then somehow ended up passing the ticket gate for the Yamanote line without a ticket. I knew I had to get a ticket somewhere but I had access to the train platform already so I wandered around Tokyo station for 2 hours until I went to ask a station employee how to buy a ticket. I was 20 years old and it was my first trip ever on my own.

    • @DatBoiAntix
      @DatBoiAntix Před 6 dny

@@Ashley-vs8nu huh. I thought I finished that sentence. What I meant to say after that was: and I kind of miss it. The arcade scene is not something you see happening at the arcades in the US. There's no good games that require skill anymore. Only machines that waste your time with useless rewards. Japanese cabinets are hard to come by or if they're here, usually they're broken because parts are sourced from Japan. The round1 in the US are mainly filled with crane machines and I noticed they're slowly pushing out Japanese games and replacing them with more crane games or shitty phone games turned arcade cabinet. Japan was great because depending on the game, there's always people watching, they have screens for people to watch the races, so it was able to become somewhat of a spectacle. I used to spend most of my time at the arcade until it got too expensive or the community dwindled. Because Japan uses their yen as coins to play, it's a lot cheaper to play there than spending $4 per game here.

You touched on the tourists taking photos in front of the Lawsons and I just wanted to add my observations as I was there a few months ago. It was at Fujikawaguchiko, the Lawson by the main station. I didn't know it was such an attraction at the time but as we passed it we saw 10 or 20 people taking photos in front of it, I was confused because... its just a Lawsons... it was an overcast day so you couldn't see Mt fuji (we didnt see mt fuji our whole trip) so it was clearly a photo op built by word of mouth. Most if not all the tourist taking the pictures where Chinese, this also accounts for all the tourist coming in full charter busses, there are plenty of other tourists taking buses into town but the amount of Chinese groups where insane, I cant imagine what it would be like when its a more popular time of year!(well from the news I guess I can guess) And in defense of the tourists, the Fujikawaguchiko station and the surrounding area is VERY unfriendly to tourists. Narrow roads that many dozens of busses have to navigate hourly, and narrow sidewalks, we are talking 2 people barely have room to pass each other and its being trafficked buy hundreds of people WITH luggage, this isnt in front of the Lawsons this is just everywhere. The town clearly is trying to attract a lot of tourists but it also seems like there's a lot of contempt for them as well, or that they are falling very behind on keeping up with infrastructure. Anyways, just thought I would add my thoughts on the news.

It turned out that before the wood existed it was an. ornamental garden which was part of a lost 16th Century Manor estate. He asked a local archaeologist/historian to come and do so. investigative work to find out a little more. The guy Chris came down and by the time he finished he'd pretty much chopped down most of the wood. 22:42 It's true that foreigners do bad stuff all the time in London and other touristic places around the world as well, it doesn't happen only in Japan. But it's understandable why these bad stuff are more talked about in Japan, they aren't used to it like most other touristic countries are, for them it's something different that is definetely news worthy, like "this place is getting littered more than normal" or "people aren't respecting the Maiko's privacy" etc. And especially because I imagine there aren't a lot of bigger and more serious news that happen in Japan every day or every week like it does in most countries in the west. So yeah, it's going to be big news there.
Another thing is that Japan has a lot of unspoken rules, which is very different from the vast majority of other countries, so it's waaaaay easier to be disrespectful without realising, unfurtunatly.

You hear about people doing dumb stuff in Rome. If you watch more Italian focus content like you do for Japan, you would hear it more. Same with anything travel focus. And if you live in Rome I would bet you would hear fair amount about tourists being rude or doing bad things.
And with those unwritten rules, like no talking on the train, stay to one side on the escalator if not walking up it. You could figure these things out just by observing what people are doing. Sadly people tend to not pay attention to little things like that.

Torikizoku seems to just rent out spaces regardless of how appropriate it is for a restaurant. They shove as many boothes as they can into a tiny space and just put a grill and a bar in the back. That being said, its a predictable and cheap food and alcohol source. Its a pleanty fine place to order some food off an iPad (with an English menu) if you already spent your day exploring and you don't have the energy to figure out something more challenging.

I tried Maricar 6 years ago. It’s scary because you are low on the ground on a regular road speeding

I don't see why the Mario go karts need to be on the actual streets? It could still be downtown in the middle of Tokyo on a course

On a course for go karts would need to be about US block big. In downtown Tokyo that would be pricey just for the land. And it is supposed to allow people see some of the sights and not really be a race.
With that being said I don't like it but what you offered isn't really a solution due to the cost.

It's crazy hearing people get food poisoning here, I never got it in the UK and never in Japan so far either.

20:30 I think most the japanese does not concern with what the foreigner do wrong from an accident (human do mistake sometime) but what they do after that to amment it.

Not gonna lie, I had my one accidental bad foreigner moment in Japan. Went to puroland and ate at the cafe they had. Bought a ramen. Delicious ramen with hello kitty's face everywhere and was in a pretty "disposable" bowl. Didn't get to finish the broth. Walked to the area where you return the plates and cups. I didn't know what to do. I stood there for a good 3 minutes waiting to see what other people were doing. No one came by with a bowl of ramen like mine. In japan, there's a recycling area for unfinished drinks where you drop the remaining liquids in it, so I dropped my remaining broth and drink then threw away the disposable stuff in another trash. Little did I realize, a local behind me was mortified. She had a ramen broth like mine and I didn't realize the small hole next to the trash where you drop off everything on your tray. I didn't know you put the tray there. Nothing indicated me to put the tray there. AITA? Hahaha. Yeah probably... I'm still kind of embarrassed about it..

Gift idea; if the cup really means that much have it fixed with the gold inlay? Forget the name. But isnt it "traditional" to japan?

I entirely agree about the karts. And it's not just an age thing were you don't want anyone having fun in a way you don't approve of, how would any youngster like the cart rides either? It's like a horse ride when they make you all go walking pace and follow the rules, what kid would like such utter boredom?

Build a billboard picture of Mt. Fuji on top of the Lawson store. Maybe if it blocks the real Mt. Fuji it will stop all the tourists.

We put emphasis on individualism but do the same things as others because of social media? Makes sens. 😒 The lawson/Fuji-san-Problem ist bejond me: I think that one photo (the first one) was on point. (It had a wonderful artistic value) The rest isn't really worth troubling other people over. And the best memories are made by yourself finding a moment yourself not to follow trends. I still think of Japanese caviar with soy-sauce...😋and as a German the black bread got me loughing so hard! (Black because of cocoa.)
