- This baked pasta is the ultimate once a year labour of love! A pie filled with cappelletti, ragu, and béchamel. It's a favourite with the family of Andrea, my cameraman. I think it has its roots in recipe of the nearby city of Ferrara called 'pasticcio di pasta alla ferrarese'. It's a variation on timballo, and it's a splendid change from lasagna.
- Krátké a kreslené filmy
I like that this is enough calories in one helping to survive the winter, yet Francesco still gives the 'I dunno' gesture when asked if there'll be enough of it left for Andrea in 5 minutes time...
Wow! That looks delicious and I love that it's also a wonderful activity the whole family can participate in!
How heart warming to see Andrea"s lovely family making such a fantastic dish, I loved hearing the story of how they originated it. Oh if only the world were filled with such lovely people and food. Thank you Vick and thank you Andrea fro letting us see your lovely familia at work. Ramon x
I'm glad you enjoyed it Ramon. Happy New Year and best wishes, Vicky

hi Maria, thank you for your appreciation and I hope 2024 is full of kindness and good health for everyone 🙂🌺 Vicky
How lovely! Andrea has such a great family and it was a pleasure to 'meet' them. And that pie looks amazing!
Loved every moment of this!! So great to see Andrea's family!!! Happy New Year to all!!!
This seems to be one of the most labor intensive recipes videoed, but looks worth the effort! Love the details! Amazing
Looking GREAT 😊😋
HAPPY NEW YEARS 2024
I swear I can smell the sofrito simmering at 3:27 into the video. Well Done, family!
Che meraviglia, bravi!
The 2023 is just showing off at this point. Y’all win, y’all won…ya don’t have to rub it in.
All joking aside this was a lovely, delicious looking deep, rich dish. Thank you for sharing. Three out of my four grandparents immigrated to America from Italy. I grew up at the local Italian hall helping the little old Italian ladies roll meatballs before they deep fried them.
I love it.
that's a great memory to have, thank you for sharing it 🙂🌺 Vicky
What a lovely family and home! And the dish looks fantastic! What a wonderful Christmas tradition for the family to look forward to! Very special!
Andrea has talked about his family's pasticcio for years and I finally got him to film it! 🙂🌺 best wishes, Vicky
I love learning the history behind the dishes and the significance to the family and the region. ❤
The pasta and ragu looks like a wonderful meal on their own. The rest takes it into the next level. It looks wonderful!
I loved when she rolled her eyes in Merkel’s way when he said that he is the one in charge of the sauce 😂
And when she whispered to him “I have already mixed it” 😅
A very Italian mansplaining tradition!
Che bella famiglia! Complimenti
A wonderful episode, I loved learning the history, and the general ambiance.
That looks amazing! Thanks as always for bringing us Pasta Grannies!!!❤
I hope everyone has an amazing holiday season and a fantastic new year.
Happy New Year to you too Kelli 🙂🌺 best wishes, Vicky

Wonderful! The family that cooks together and eats together...it's a beautiful thing.
Andrea’s dad is quite endearing
What a great family tradition
Absolutely scrumptious. Thank you Andrea, for showing us your wonderful family! Happy New Year to the whole Pasta Grannies team. Love, from Scotland.
Helped her lift that heavy board onto the table. He just walks right by lol
I could totally pull this off!
If I invested countless hours studying and learning all the techniques.
Absolutely superb. I may just occupy myself with this one on a dull winters day. Regards, Stephen.
Quite a labor of love! And made with love, too. 🥰
What a wonderful family, Andrea is blessed!
What an absolutely wonderful family tradition!! And the love that is evident in the making of the dish is my favorite part of the video! Buon Natale to all!! TFS, Sharon🤗♥️🍝

That dish looked like it was the ultimate comfort food! How interesting to zest a pie crust. I'm making a banana cream pie for a party soon, so shall try it then.
Woaow. Damn that looks tasty.
*Great* video!
I love all of these videos! Thank you for sharing these amazing videos and the Pasta Grannies with us all. Just an idea for you...I'd very much like to see some follow ups on the Grannies and what they are up to and how they are doing today. Just an idea!
thank you for the suggestion, we do keep in contact behind the scenes, and some of our ladies are happy to make regular appearances (eg Maria from Faenza, Cicci from Liguria) also we are hoping to return to 103 year old Irma for her 104th birthday in March! 🙂🌺 Vicky
Labors of love are never labors. God bless and may everyone involved with your project have a healthy and happy New Year!
Thank you very much Scott, I hope 2024 is kind to you too, best wishes, Vicky
Grazie Mille ancora per la vostra lovorate. Mi piace i tuoi video ogni settimane, e non vedo l'ora quando sono in Italia a nuovo (Venizia tra due settimane, e Sardenga in Settembre!)
Have a great time in both places Paul and best wishes for 2024, 🙂🌺 Vicky
And I thought Greek Pasticcio was complicated!
❤❤❤
The hand gestures are a language all their own.
Double up on Plavix before consuming this dish. 😂
Happy New year from Haiti 🇭🇹 !!! Recipes?
The Greeks make a bechamel pasta bake called pasticchio .. interesting recipe
I was just thinking that too; the Greek version is less fussy, made with rigatoni or penne and without the addition of the pastry dough. Probably introduced by Italians to Greece.
@@pwp8737 …perhaps so .. the history of how recipes have evolved are so interesting … the word lasagna was used first by the Greeks to describe flat pasta ,….
Wow are you sure they're his parents!?! They look very youthful.
Thank you very much for sharing this dish ❤.
Unfortunatly I'm 74 years old ...but I'm fine ! Stefano
I'm a very good pot washer, if they'd like assistance next time they make it.
For the algorithm
💙💜❤️💚🧡🇦🇺
I saw a shell go into the mixer!!!!! She should always crack and dump eggs in a separate dish then add to mixer one at a time, so that she can catch the shell
Hi, can we connect over instagram ? You look so familiar
lasagna on steroids
I think you have to be born in this family to appreciate this, because for me it is not something I would enjoy. Its a lot of heavy ingredients. But hey can't knock this families traditions .
I think you missed the part of the video where they explained Stefano's mother got the recipe from a local restaurant. So it's obviously a local or even regional dish, not just a family dish.
@@missmiko1no did not miss that. I think you missed the part that mentioned the family matriarch made this dish😂
@@HopeLaFleur1975 Made but didn't create.
