Bowling-first team will include an all-rounder (6th bowling option) in the XI and use only if desperate. They can replace him with a better batter to help with the chase.

Impact rule is wrong bro. In ICC tournaments there is no impact rule. If players and team managements are used to impact rule in IPL they will struggle a lot with the combinations in ICC tournaments. With this impact player rule one player is not at all fielding which will affect his gameplay when he plays international tournaments. And also i wont agree with ur opinion on all rounders. With this rule someone like washington sundar is being benched through out the tournament.

we can't compare between hockey or football to cricket because cricket is a 1 (Bowler) vs 1 (Batsman) but in hockey and football it is 1 vs 11 so substitutions won't make much of a difference

Pdogg is correct. In football when a defender is replaced by a forward still the defence is going to be compromised. Where as in IPL, when you replace a bowler who has bowled 4 overs with a power hitter opener then you are definitely playing with an extra player.

Please don't underestimate the audience. Audience doesn't expect every match to be an High scoring match. Yes there are many who wants that, and they bring alot of revenue to the game as well. Bt you need to raise the standard of that group rather than feeding them what they want. There shd be balance in that. The game should evolve bt in it's own way to show the beauty of that game.

But i think many forgot about low scoring thrillers.... We needed it badly during the start of last ipl as everyone coming in to bat will be hitting everyball, which will reduce the interest to watch ipl if it happens everyday. The thing is if batsmen are going to smash bowlers all the time then definitely the brand IPL will be vanished. We need both high scoring and low scoring thrillers which is only possible with the pitch quality.. Impact player rule dont affect much when pitch is considered
Low scoring matches are real thrillers. High scoring mathes are really boring
PDogg's point on impact sub absolutely makes sense. It brings innovation in the game without affecting the core of the game. If a batting team is struggling, they can replace a bowler with batter. In the same sense, if bowlig team is struggling, they can replace the batter with a good bowler. The game becomes more strategic.

More than sport we are looking at IPL as an entertainment..... Which is wrong... The below things should be implemented...
1. Remove impact player rule
1. Boundaries should be pushed back
2. Pitches should be more of bowler friendly
3. Ball quality should be improved and swing more
4. Power play should be broken into 2 parts .. 3 overs for batting team and 3 for bowlers....
5. More favorable rules for bowlers, if not 10 years from now you won't find bowlers
6. Last 3 overs... Fielders can field anywhere and no field restrictions...

1 on 1 action doesn't dominate the entire game. One defender is beaten, the next one covers for him.
Tennis - after 2 sets you replace a player and instead of federer vs xyz it's suddenly federer vs nadal, doesn't it make it a different game suddenly?
Cricket is a hybrid of both. It emphasises on individual actions more than football but not as much as tennis. You see it similar to football, pdogg sees it similar to tennis.

Like Ash na said impact player brings more entertainment towards cricket but on the game point of view we must understand one thing.... Ipl is the gateway for our Indian grooming youngsters to get into Indian team, Agree?.... Then this impact player may ruin our future cricketers...... Let's take Nattu, he is used as an impact player,right!?..then it means he is not fielding which I feel as a major drawback.... May be he might miss out Ind team due to this who knows....Ok Nattu may be a proven younger... But apply this same case for upcoming youngsters, who might do well with the ball but not with the bat and fielding because he didn't get any opportunity....... Let's say in the future Indian team is searching for an all-rounder, a guy like Sameer Rizvi might be an all-rounder but he may not be selected by the Indian team because CSK haven't used him, so his hidden talents are already been hidden before it's being exposed!

Innovations can be done in other areas like toss to Nullify heavy home advantage for home teams in certain grounds.
We can completely remove coin toss. Give Visiting team option to choose one of the below.
1) Choose to bat/bowl first.
2) Announce playing XI after the toss time.
Whatever the visiting team chooses the other option goes to the home team.
Most cases suspect teams to choose bat/bowl so to ballance out things a little bit we can give the home team option to announce their XI after the visiting team announces theirs.

No.1 Team goes to Finals directly- *FAIR*
No.3 Team has to win two consecutive matches to enter Finals just like the current format- *FAIR*
No.4&No.5 Teams have to win 3 consecutive matches to enter Finals, since they are the last two teams- *FAIR*
No.2 Team has to win one match to enter Finals just like the current format *BUT* if they lose, they're out of the league which is *UNFAIR* . Then what's the point in finishing 2nd in a tournament where your qualifier match is also your eliminator match. They're at a disadvantage here when compared with current format in which they get 2 chances to qualify for Finals.
I think 5 team playoffs is great, but it has to be fine tuned.
If impact rule should apply only on Indian player's....they apply this rule uncapped player's get more chance and impact rule is finally accepted my people's

I don't want the impact player rule. I also don't want the rule tweaked like PDogg said.
I don't mind having the impact player rule. Having an extra batter while batting means that the batters have the license to attack from the get go without having the fear of getting out which led to those big scores last season. From a bowling perspective, having an extra bowler gives the flexibility to rotate bowlers such that if a bowler gets hit for runs you can stop bowling him and rely on the extra bowler. It works for both batting and bowling.

I agree with PDogg. This year the 1st half IPL was a boring reason being boundary fatigue. Fed up of boundary scoring frequency which reduced the beauty of the game. As a cricket viewer, purist high scoring game is not the normal.

1. If u r batting 1st and u want to get an impact player while bowling means the out player should be in field for 5 overs

Im against the concept of impact player rule because initially a team expects all of their payers to contribute equally and to their full extent. But now, the franchise expects extraodinary from the impact player and the value that the other players bring to the table is less considered.
This impact substitute cannot be compared with substitution of a football game becoz in football , even if a midfielder is substituted with a striker, the entire team goes into an attacking mode and thus it does not reduce the ability of the defender or any of the 11 players on the field to showcase his talent or to prove himself. Thus, in football , how many ever substitution are made, it gives an opportunity for all the players on the field to express himself completely and no player will have a feeling of less represented.
But in cricket, it become a senario that the entire team is revoling around the impact player and it restricts the talent of other players to be showcased. Ex- if a player in actual playing 11 can bowl 2 or 3 over in ipl standard, he is totally overshadowed by the impact player.
Can we include one player from Associate nation instead of Indian player?

3 things to mention
1. Impact player : either no impact player or to have impact player for both innings for a team (even I had similar idea, but with a small clause like the over num of introducing impact player for a team in a match should be same for both innings just to have more fun)
2. 5 teams to qualify similar to BBL, but playoffs like PGodd suggested is fine
3. Playoffs to be played in neutral venues, how many venues we have in India, which do not get an international match for years together, simple idea is we have 5 playoffs matches, one for each zone - north, east, west, south and Central, by doing this those smaller ground would get more attraction towards them and God revenue helping develop tourism as well. As this is going to be fixed even before start of the season transportation should be fine and there should be no complaints.

I believe that the real problem is in the mindset... We are seeing fearless batting, but not enough fearless bowling... All the games which went 250+ the captains shoulders dropped, attacking fields weren't set, Yorkers and bouncers werent as much... I think if fearless bowling and field setting come into the picture (like it did in the later stages of the IPL last year where we didn't have too many 220+) it'll all be fine. Impact player gives 10-15 more Indian talents a chance to play, so it isn't all bad. I would say, instead of a batting 11 and a bowling 11, each team should have only 1 single playing 11 and 1 list of impact subs irrespective of whether u win or lose toss.

For t20 alone, let teams have unlimited substitution like NBA, baseball.
This will definitely improve the quality of the game.

As a game designer, i have a theory that should be applied here, which is generally relevant in the game development world.
In any game or sport, even board games, When you change an absolutely basic rule like number of players per side , you also have to change some of the other scoring dynamics of the game.
You only have 120 balls and max one can score without extras is 720 runs. Scores were at 20% of max , now it's around 35% of max. If you bring in power hitting specialists in an even shorter format, you end up getting to 50-60% of total possible runs. As you notice and know, im not suggesting that it will get to 100%, but as you get closer, you collinearly remove the balance in the game thats part of the reward for winning. Though it might seem exciting in the beginning, it will eventually reach a point where one variable (bowling) gets negated.
We should also bring in other dynamics, like introduce something that's worth 8 runs. Or some skillful act getting rewarded with positive runs ( lets say 3 instead of 2 in some use case) and a skillful bowling act gets rewarded with negative runs or runs for your own team when you start your innings (like running on the pitch penalty runs)

PDogg seemed to keep getting back to the fact that it is not a playing eleven but a playing twelve, but had no reason why that was a bad thing. Another example of inflexible thought processes. I am amazed at Ashwin's clarity and foresight which is not usual for a long-term international player who generally get boxed into self preservation thinking. He is sure to be one of the great thinkers of the game after his playing days. And oh, a sport's endeavour should be to strive a balance between the two teams as much as possible i.e. Best bowling versus best batting team. Balance within a playing eleven is not a principle based on anything other than "oh it's always been this way". The sooner we get the best bowlers going up against the best batsmen the better for the game. Playing eleven or playing sixteen doesn't matter.
Consider this innovation that can suit bowling team:
Bowling team can adhoc increase 3 overs to 7 balls and vice versa decrease 3 overs to 5 balls. This can challenge batter's plan and add a spice to the game.
