The Spaceship’s Crew Was in Danger, but How to Escape?

When strange events suddenly start happening on the cargo spaceship Tantalus, and the crew's psyche suddenly goes haywire, the only person capable of dealing with the problem suddenly turns out to be the ship's cook, Fanzio.

This was originally an idea for a full novel in the spirit of "sci-fi horror" (well, sort of), but in the end, I decided that this plot is a bit shallow for a novel, so here is a short story. It is possible, however, that the story may have sequels or spin-offs, especially if you actively ask for them in the comments.
And yeah, I know what parasites are from the scientific point of view, but you wouldn't expect the cook to know it, would you?
