  • Hey guys, we did this video back in October right before it got really cold and i just wanted to show you guy how i do the oilchange with a new filter and Motul engine oil. I'm not a pro and obviuosly there is still a bit of routine and skill to develop but we got it done, the honda is running and it wasn't to much of a mess. I hope this helps you a bit doing your next oilchange and if you like the video let us know and leave a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel. Thank you so much and see you on the next ride!
    Cheers,
    Marc

    Hi Marc nice work ! my recommendation is that you remove the dipstick and leave it off/remove both drain plugs same time & leave off/remove oil filter /drain/ then tilt bike over to get more oil out of the filter housing THIS WILL GIVE MORE ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE WHEN DRAINING
    🏍I noticed you use premium fuel and oil/excellent choice /Recommend you change oil 2-3 times (only)but filter only once /reason is transmission gears breakdown oil fast /when you change oil on a 1 cylinder bike you really notice it (I do 4 oil to 1 filter around @2k)

    Regardless of regular top ups you should still stick to the recommended oil and filter change interval. Also changing the piston rings and valve stem seals would stop the excessive oil consumption. 👍

    Hello Marc. Greetings from Portugal.
    Great bike, impressive how it still runs so fine.
    One advice, using the oil catching pan, you should remove the small red plug for venting the interior, making it easier for the oil to get in and avoiding that bubbling. Ask me how do I know! 😉

    Hey Marc! Very useful video thanks. Bought my 1996 Dominator just 2 weeks ago! Done the plug. Oil and filters this weekend. I like your windscreen! Where did you find it?

      Hey Simon, thx so much for watching! A lot of people ask me about the windshield, it was actually already on the bike when I bought it but here’s a link to eBay:

    Thanks, I had always changed the oil by only removing the lower pan nut and not the one on the front. Do you think it matters?

    • @MarcTravels
      @MarcTravels  Před 3 lety +1

      I don’t think it matters. You should be fine. Have a great day and thanks for watching the video!🤗

      @jamesbohannon4305 Před 2 lety +1

      It matters, the engine is a "dry sump" and holds much of its oil inside the frame. Both should be drained, final top off after running at idle a couple minutes. Expect to need part of a third quart.

    Great bike,man!!! Definitely gonna be my next bike!! 👍👍 Hello from Ukraine!! It would be awesome find a bike in a good condition,but it's kinda tough of a task.... How much oil does it consume per 1000kms? My 250cc honda eats like 200 grams,depends on the way i ride))).

    • @MarcTravels
      @MarcTravels  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey man, thanks for watching and yes it’s a Great bike. Hope you find one soon. With the oil it really depends on how you drive. In the City almost nothing and when you give her a little I would say like 100ml -200ml per 1000km. Have a great day, cheers Marc🤙🏼

    Hi Marc! Love the bike. Been thinking about getting one for few years now. The only thing that concerns me is I've heard that it likes to drink oil when running on high rpms for longer periods.
    Have you had this experience? do you need to check the oil level often? I've also heard of a lot of people putting aftermarket oil coolers on these. Do you think that's worth the hassle?

    • @MarcTravels
      @MarcTravels  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Jay, thanks for tuning in. Yeah as I said in the video she does take oil quite a bit, depending on how you ride it course. So I check every few hundred km. Nothing concerning tho and I heard recently it can help to try 10w60 instead of 10w40 oil so I’ll try that out next oil change. Anyways, an oil cooler is not necessary in my opinion and I was riding last year in Italy in summer heat🥵 it’s a very reliable bike I think. Feel free to check out my long distance journeys with Honda on my channel, see how she does;) cheers, Marc

      No need, 55k miles on my '88. It gets 20-50 syn mc oil. (motorcycle oil has transmission gear additives)
      Might want to carry a spare CDI ignition box, on my third.
