You are expert for talking bullshit ;-) the Dalai Lama has a spleen, that's it . For Buddhist that's part of our personality
When I was a child I used to play with my grandfather and even with my brother by touching his head and nose, playing with his tongue with my tongue and this is normal play, this is how His Holiness Dalai The lama, who is like a grandfather figure, is playful with the child..It is part of the culture of Tibet, it is nothing wrong in our culture...People need to understand that there are different types of culture in this world.

『From Dharmawheel:
To my dear non-Tibetan friends who wanted my thoughts on the recent Dalai Lama episode:
I want to preface this by saying that I viewed and processed this incident as someone steeped in the cultures of both source language and target language. That is to say, I am familiar with the Tibetan format of humor (often dark) and acknowledge how different jokes can sound in English without proper context.
As is the case with most Tibetan elders, the Dalai Lama has a tendency to tease children and displays a certain childlike innocence. Bearing in mind that he has a rather poor command of the English language, and with his advanced age adding to his struggle in articulating his thoughts into words, I think it all came down to the word “SUCK,” which naturally translates to obscenity in the English-speaking world, especially in today hyper sexualized world.
What the Dalai Lama said in English translates to “ngé ché lé jip” in Tibetan. Tibetan parents and grandparents often tease their children by holding them tight and saying these words, sticking out the tip of their tongue almost touching the face, knowing well that the kids don’t like it and expect them to break their grip (for Tibetans unable to relate to these experiences, I am sorry). There is nothing obscene from this cultural perspective.
Culture gives language different contexts. Deeply-held taboos in one culture can be normal in another. Parents kissing children on the lips is one example. Where such a gesture nowadays can mean a death sentence in certain parts of the world, it is viewed as an act of affection elsewhere.
Edit: I see the replies I’m getting. I am not answering them because I don’t feel it would do any good. I pasted this for those who would benefit from it. If you feel the world is a dark place, then do what you can to bring about light. Be a loving and virtuous person. Change begins with yourself. Bruh where did all the replies go? I guess the Channel is just deleting the replies or something. That’s the best way to solve an issue, by removing opposing voices (sarcasm)
Such long explanation to normalise such a creepy behaviour, if it were a common man doing this there would be a public outcry and who knows what..but this is a special human. So things arent as they should imho.
Don't worry, Dharmawheel any negative replies I see I promptly reported them. 👍
No culture or religious practice is set in stone. If something as unclean as this is being promoted as normal behaviour in any culture its high time people take the effort to change it. Ugh.

JUST LIKE "STEPHEN HAWKING" WHO WENT TO "EPSTEIN 🏝️"☠️☠️
Nope , not a satisfying answer,
there is no connection between greeting someone by showing tongue and asking a little boy to suck your tongue .
So, do you think someone is dumb enough to do such bullshit in front of everyone intentionally?
Exactly!
Do you our culture no right so don’t give ur damn words first search and come here to comment
Did u forget that there a lot of rape cases in India and u guys staying silent for that and if the other religion or other race people do something than u guys act like u care🤣please worry abt ur country rape cases and sexual harassment !!
Exactly 💯
as you said, It's all about perspective same goes for him too, Respectful People like him should also take it into consideration that if sucking tongue is way of greeting someone is his culture then he should respect our thoughts too that sucking tongue is not a great way to greet someone everywhere. 👍
everyone is free to express their opinion and so this act isn't much acceptable to everyone.
Edit : I don't disrespect him and hate just want to make all tibetians realise whose sentiment got hurt that it's human nature to react to act which seems improper to them though it's a part of someone culture and believe. It would take time to things to be in under control.
Its not that matter bro
You can see the way he looks at the boy
In the original clip
A very disgusting exposition of lust can be seen in his face looking at the boy👦
Definitely a paedophile
That's why he also said sorry but you also have to consider that it's a integrated part of their Tibetan culture. Like cow's are integrated part of Hindu culture.
Why to react on one portion of vedio when u can watch full and react. The child indeed tried catching his tongue but then when he came close his holiness didn’t let him and pad him on shoulder for trying to catch and laugh.it’s a clear act of playful manner. However, media still display the portion and people continues to judge. Half knowledge is dangerous dude. Even this channel displaying that same half portion and pitching thoughts.
It is tradition. However, Tradition and all this stuff came to defend the guru ji. it wouldn’t be required if media start showing full act of that incident or may be people try go deeper research to check full.

Yes. Dalai Lama failed to see the cultural disparity here. But given his age, lifestyle and his very raw and pure innocent personality, I can understand his misstep. He did issue the apology letter. Tibetans are hurt not because people criticize him for the misstep. They are hurt because the world equated this misstep to predatory behaviour and started speculating his whole lifetime work for peace and harmony. @@Elden-BearI'm no Tibet but i study a bit of their culture "che la se" as they call it which means "eat my tongue" the dalai lama doesn't speak English quite well so that's why it misinterpret the words, most tibetans are familiar of this practice and it is a quip used by adults when a child has depleted them of all other resources. Basically in my understanding according to some of my research they use it as a joke but note that elders used also their mouths to feed the younger ones or "kiss-feed" as they call it
Not explained well in this vod but certain types of ppl & groups in the West have been eager to "cancel" him for years now due to statements he has previously made not inline with their ideologies & this was finally their chance. Even though with knowledge of Tibetan culture & customs this was unquestionably innocent (a better translation to English for phrase that goes along with this common Tibetian custom/joke between elders & children is "bite my tongue" while sticking out the tongue) no amount of explaining Tibetian cultural understanding will change the narrative.
This is why regional PR teams should work alongside any influencial ppl who travel. It should of been obvious to his team that this custom would not be viewed well due to the Catholic Church's history with pdf files.
