  • Come along with me, Larry Lane, A.I.A., while I point out some architectural highlights of a home built with 21 stacked shipping containers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC.
The home was designed by Lot-EK Architecture & Design. Here is a link to their website about this home: lot-ek.com/carroll-house.
Here's a link that has some interior photos and more drawings of the house: tinyurl.com/rx3w24dk.
Here's a link to the NY Post article about the house. This link gives you a little background about the original owners of the home. This link also has the time elapse video I spoke about: nypost.com/2017/12/13/inside-....
The structural engineer of the house, Silman, has a website about this house too at www.silman.com/work/projects/....
Here's the realtor's website that shows how much the house was resold for: www.compass.com/listing/2-mon...
Here's a link to a video about the fire at this property: • Fire | 2 Monitor St, W... .
Finally, here is the link to the Bugs Bunny Cartoon video about the book, "A tree grows in Brooklyn" : • Looney Tunes "A Hare G...

All construction projects are unique and have their own design issues that must be reviewed by a professional that is knowledgeable of your project needs, the materials and quality of builders available, and the applicable codes that need to be followed. Seek a professional to review your particular needs. This video and the article it refers to is only for information only and not for construction or for project costs or schedule estimates of your particular project.
Thank you, LMR, for helping me with the production of this video.

Pretty cool, I use to skip school back in the late 80's on the F train to Williamsburg hanging out on the shoping plaza!

Larry, interesting but...we really need to see inside. Great explanations and seeing the drawings was kool. You are certainly the Kontainer King!

I really wanted to go inside and document the interior space too. But, I did not have access to it. Hopefully, you found the information from the outside looking in informative. Take a look at the video description under this video to find several links to websites that have interior photos of the house.

@@liveinacontainer6602 Larry, do you draw up blueprints for container homes? If so are they accepted in Ohio? Goshen OH 45122. If so, I have a floor plan I'll send you. Then let me know the cost.

Thank you for the complement. Let me know if there are other topics about building with shipping containers you would like for me to cover.

Shipping container homes are probably accepted in some if not all parts of your town. Check with the town authorities to determine their requirements. Here is a link for contacts in your town that can help you understand their restrictions: goshen-oh.gov/planning-zoning/
Here is the link to the zoning resolution for your town. Article 9 seems to cover some architectural requirements at goshen-oh.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/040217-ZoningResolution.pdf.
Yes, I draw blueprints for container homes. I am a licensed architect in NY and NJ - not in Ohio. You would need to find a licensed architect in Ohio who will oversee the drawings and then sign and seal them for you to file for permits in Ohio.
