Exploring Chirk Castle in Northern Wales. FTHVN 651

In early October we visited and explored Chirk Castle near Wrexham, Wales. This castle was built in the 13th century was occupied as a residence until recent times.

I was going to visit this Castle but it seems to me to be just a stately home. I would rather go to a castle that is Bare and true to form rather than walk into a stately home full stop it is not true to period. It's a misconception. The castle was built in 1295 the interior looks more French and and seems to be more like 1825. with a French influence. People travel miles to see a castle and the interior of a castle as it should be. Why can't they just give people a true interpretation of a castle that was built in 1295. Instead of nailing plywood Shields to the walls for people who want to see a castle and it's true history I suggest you avoid this one. It is an home. That is raking in money by conning people. Although it has got some interesting artefacts in the castle but nothing to period
