I'm going to guess that 50% of all of your subscribers who use kettles have a trangia and want to know if this is fits in a trangia cookset! Please let us know! Thanks!
Ernie!!!
Absolutely, does this fit in the Trangia 27 or 25?
Thanks so much for all of your videos.
It blows my mind that you can spend so much time educating us, thank you.
But seriously, does this kettle fit in a Trangia kit?
Great, another camping accessory that I didn’t know I needed till now. Great video.
A lightweight kettle really is a subtle game changer. When I first started going UL a kettle, a cozy and a supercat stove were all that I needed.
I‘ve had this exact same kettle branded under Alpkit for about a year now. It’s pretty much perfect!
There are plenty of 1 liter aluminum kettles at the 200g weight at a fraction of the cost
GSI, Fire Maple, and Trangia
I'll be 59 tomorrow morning, and weight has become an issue.
I'm not afraid of aluminum, because I don't overheat it, and stainless steel *is* what I grew up with.
However, I've been looking for a good kettle for a while now. I think I might have found it, thanks to you.
I do appreciate your work, and how you review things. So, even though I am not one to subscribe to much of anything ... it's time to make another of the few exceptions.
Bravo, and keep on keepin' on brother.
Does it fit in Trangia 25 and 27?
Love this kettle! Not just for weight, but I like the design, foldable handle and all-around good functionality. thanks for the review - hope more folks will love this one, too.
Thanks Ernie. Glad you are back.
Thanks for videos , always glad to see new gear review.
Excellent video. I have several kettles, so I don't really "need" another, but this one to be on the lookout for. What intrested me the most was the fuel tablet that you used in the Firemaple Lotus solid fuel stove (Nitinen?). It looks as if it is gelled alcohol, but it's a type I haven't seen before. Is there a review on the way?
Ernie, thanks man. I was looking at kettles. Your video will help a brother out. Much appreciated.
Hey Ernie…not sure which side of the fence your on when comes to leaving your outdoor cookware blackened or if you clean it from time to time…but if you do clean it,tip….JASCO paint remover takes off the thickest stuff in mere seconds!👊
It definitely looks like I will be purchasing a titanium kettle from boundless voyage, thank you Ernie for another great video.
Thanks for another great video! I have this kettle and love it too!
I bought that exact kettle some weeks ago. Very nice!
Great video Doc
Good review , thanks for sharing , God bless !
When I find a brand I like I tend to stick with them and I own many BV products, 420ml coffee cup with lid, various little pots, their smaller French press, a rectangle grill, the canteen & 2 cup set, the dragonhorse folding stove, the gasification stove. I've been delaying on the kettle but I think I'll be ordering it now also. Great video sir, I always enjoy your content
I boil my water in the skulls of my vanquished foes.
I liked the music at the 4-minute mark.
Looks like a great Kettle.. Ive laid off buying a Kettle for a long time. The closest thing I have to a kettle is the Snowpeak #1, its close but not a "true" kettle... I like the looks of this one, I just rebuilt a coleman 502 and 508. I bet it would go great with them.. Great vid bud
Another great video and thank you for sharing! I have several different kettles and it seams the one I always grab is my Keith Titanium 1L. Mostly because Im boiling water for more than myself. This kettle might just fit the bill for when I venture into the wilderness by myself with the lower profile it would fit in the Haversack pretty well I think. I am curious about that Fire Maple Stove and fuel you were using in this video. Planning on a little review? Hint Hint lol
Liked the stove!😁
Ernie!
Thanks for yet another great video. We all really appreciate what you do.
Thank you.
Does this fit in a Trangia set? 27? 25?
Hello from Vorarlberg Austria 🇦🇹
I went for a stainless steel kettle from decathlon 😅 12,99€ is simply a great price 😂
Kind regards Leopold 🤗
Love this kettle. I actually bought the rainbow colored one. Don't ever plan to use it over a fire.
Ernie - can this be stored inside the Trangia 27 cook set? I'd like to get this but I really would like for it to fit inside the kit. Thanks for all you do.
I've always thought about getting a kettle.
Companies like Boundless Voyage and Lixada make decent products, but they are always heavier than Toaks or Evernew. I think they use a cheaper grade of titanium with more impurities.
I got a kettle of this size and only used it during one trip. I found it to be too small. I have been using a 1.5l heat exchanger Fire Maple kettle ever since and I'm more than happy with it even though it is not titanium. I have to admit that I'm not a back packer or into this ultra light stuff.
Kettles are ok, but made for boiling water mostly. For that I prefer a kelly kettle. If they would make a ti version, I would pick it up, even though it would be some thing like $200:)
Yeah kettles are cool.I have a couple lightweight ones.I like my gsi halulite kettles.but wouldn’t mind getting a titanium one.
Would love to see a titanium Kelly Kettle.. Might have to sell my children to afford one, but the weight of a Kelly Kettle is a huge factor. I admit its bulky to but if it was light it would go from Canoe and car camping kit to backpacking kit. This kettle you feature here is sweet. I love the solid fuel stove you pair it with. Did I miss your Video on that? looks super compact and reasonably effective.
Another subject:would very much appreciate your opinion on Goshawk Romance stove. An alcohol, wood burner, brass and copper.Looks good, but you're the shell answer man! Thanks.
Hi, like usual a very good video. I have the kettle and the stove for more than a year in operation. Both are a perfect piece of equipment. Would you please let me know what kind of solid fuel you are using in this video. Thanks and greetings from Germany
I have the GSI stainless steel kettle and the Snow Peak #1. The GSI weights 10.3 oz and the Snow Peak 8.5oz.
Earnie, I have both the smaller and larger kettles. The larger with an iso burner and folding spoon has become the hotel morning coffee kit when traveling the country visiting the kids. I love it.
Ernie, while I share your penchant for coffee(being a Chef it's expected...) what I can't abide by is the heavy cream! Too thick..... Nice kettle though. It looks just like a titanium version of the Eagle kettle (which I bought in part becuase of your excellent review of!). Nice upgrade on the spout though! Bill Doyle in NJ
Does it fit in/on a Trangia 27?
Got rid of all my titanium, when you take it off the fire it starts getting cold fast. But it made for good bragging rights for years.
Great review thanks! What do you think of the nitinen fuel? Would the kettle and fuel work with the Evernew DX stove set?
New type kettle Yakan!
$50 for a kettle? Ouch! I’ll just use my Stanley 2-cup cook set as my kettle.
Ernie, is this deep enough to fit a small canister in it? I am using an evernew pasta pot since forever and consider moving to a kettle but wondering if you ever stashed a canister and stove in it. Love the video, thanks for putting this on my radar.
Ok, now you’re filming at the beach…. Yupik jealous 😅
Very nice kettle. I was wondering why they don't all have removable grip protectors on them. Anything with a bail on it. How about those lid rings. If their going to put something on it like on your kettle, why not use a removable piece for that too. Silicone or whatever.
Again. Nice kettle, and video.
Maybe other manufacturers will get on and ride that train now. Take care my friend.
Those for sale at your Amazon link have no silicon handle or pot protectors.
I already bought it two years ago and it works perfectly with its ceramic coated frying pan.
He! Merci 🙏
I have one just like yours, that I bought from Amazon brazilian site, but mine is Lixada, not Boundless Voyage. I like mine a lot, but haven't put it over open fire, only alcohol and canister.
Great kettle but 50 bucks is too much for hot water
Hello, what alcohol or syphon burner would best suit/fit my firebox gen2 nano set? Seems like distance between stove and pot is important
Do this fit the Trangia 25?????
Will it fit inside a Trangia 027?
Good review Doc. I had an aluminum kettle once, but did not like the "nonstick" surface inside, so got rid of it. Stainless steel I considered too heavy. This may just be the ticket! I like the wide base of a kettle because it maximizes heat transfer when using stoves. Wide top makes it easier to clean too. Thanks for the video.
looks like one could get a few cups out of that one package of coffee, those are nice to have on trips.. wrap the handle with exhaust tape if you're worried about it melting, or make an apron for it you can easily remove..
also since titanium is non reactive its great for cooking, even acids it won't leach anything, unlike aluminum which is known to cause alzheimer's and other issues.. titanium or stainless.. titanium just means you can pack more, id carry my fuel inside the pot, matches so forth, maybe even the coffee, those packages are so cool, and I don't even drink coffee anymore... still love it tho, when you poured that water into the pouch I smelled coffee... no jokes
I've never understood why people would take a kettle with them out backpacking, you'll likely already have a cookpot and lid with you
Is this kettle compatible with the Trangia 25?
For nesting yes, but for using it is too small to give you a stable rest on the windshield.
I have this kettle. It's sold, and branded, by Alpkit. I have one bugbear. The lid and hole is not big enough to put my Trangia burner container in. Also, I can't put my Trangia triangle inside.
The GSI glacier- no problem
The Trangia 25 kettle - no problem
This one, and the Trangia 27 - aperture is too small.
in fairness, the trangia 25 is bigger, at 900ml. The 27 kettle is 600ml, not too far form this BV at 700ml.
I was looking at titanium kettles, but I have a question. How come you don't just boil the water in a normal titanium pot and then pour the water into a cup with a tea bag? Or do you replace carrying a titanium pot for the ti kettle?
If you are using a Trangia set it's really nice that it fits inside the other pots. And the other pots are usually dirty from cooking so can't be used for boiling water. Otherwise I agree.
@@mortenborg so you're saying that a titanium kettle can't get dirty?
@@neiloppa2620 No, I'm saying that I don't use it for cooking food
@@mortenborgDo you know if the 700ml or 1000ml boundless voyage kettle fit in a Trangia 25?
Just never been able to figure out a use for a kettle in my kit that can't also be done with a metal canteen cup or a bush pot. Since everything I carry has more than one use, the kettle seems a single purpose piece of gear to me. I guess you could cook up a stew or something in one, but why?
I use a Trangia 27 and find it convenient to cook a meal and eat it out of the pots then while I’m eating I use the kettle to boil coffee. It doesn’t add any bulk as it nests in the Trangia and it doesn’t really add any weight. Plus it’s a really handy place to keep my burner, lighter/matches and other bits without them rattling.
👍
First ... don't cook on the counter tops. Quartz will melt (made of quartz silicate and resin), and natural stone will scorch. Just bad. Don't do that.
Second ... I own 5 kettles. 2 aluminum. 2 stainless steel. 1 titanium. I haven't used any of them except the titanium one in 2 years. I bought an Uberleben Kessel 2.0 2 years ago and it has replaced all others. If you haven't tried that one yet, I highly recommend it.
I have it, but I don’t like it, 1. It is so hard to pour all the water out of it, 2.the handle will move when I till the kettle 3. Need to use your hand to hold the top cover of kettle so that it won’t fall off😂
Holding the lid is part of the experience : )
@@bcamping1 😂yep.
1. It´s almost true with most kettles; to get out the last drop you´ll need to tilt a lot, considering the angle of most kettle´s spouts. If this is very important for you, I would recommend a pot or some hybrid like the überleben Kessel. Another option is to boil a bit more water to avoid this issue, of course this only work on the right circumstances. 2. the movement is not significantly enough to really miss the target on most cases unless you are trying to put water on a very small spot or while moving/making other things at the same time; unless the mechanism of locking the handle has been worn out for using or came defect from factory. 3. You can use your middle finger to hold the cover, just rest the finger on the plastic tab while is resting on the top cover; nonetheless the top cover only try to "fall off" when you pass the 90° angle. If keeping with your middle finger it's impossible, try removing the top cover after taking from the fire and then pour the water.
🍻 Although, never having used a kettle, someone please tell me why take a kettle vs a pot that can also be used for cooking? If you say a kettle and a pot, my question is why not two pots? What is the advantage of a kettle?
I've had the same question. Perhaps it's just seems desirable. Maybe nicer to pour from.
The main advantages of a kettle is slightly faster boil time (due to the wider shape) and a more controlled pour. Having a lid also keeps stuff out. Having a bail style handle is also nice for hanging over a fire.
@@benwilkinson45 Thanks
Mostly like anodized aluminum better than titanium because it conducts heat better and has a degree of non-stick. It also can be more ridgid because it's thicker.
The big advantage of titanium for me is that if you use it on a wood stove and it gets carbon coated, you can heat it red hot to burn off the coating. That's a pretty good feature and for boiling water, is worth it...
Do you on trangia HA?
@@mrsmay2605 no, but that looks like a pretty capable kit. Nothing beats alcohol for a quiet, meditative experience.
Back during the war we used our aluminum kettles to cook spaghetti sauce every day and it was fine... wait what was I talking about?
Can't whine about the expense when you know dang well that it's an investment that will LAST!!!😂🤣😆
Good video. You have great scenery by the sea. Titanium is a superior material. I should get that kind if titanium stove. I modified the Esbit stove into a multi-fuel stove. If it was titanium it would be even better.
That is a milk shake not a cup of coffee Ernie
I have the Fire Maple kettle. It has the heat retention ring in the bottom. I am partial to Fire Maple and Soto. Keep well and raise hell. Dave & The Girls
50 bucks to boil 2 cups of water! Save weight, leave it at home - boil with your pot. Titanium does save weight - your wallet lightens.
Absolutely! In addition, an aluminum pot can also handle boiling water. Which can be used for cooking! 😅
A kettle could replace the pot. Don't need both.
Had it for a couple years, love it! I could be wrong but it seems like it boils faster than stainless or aluminum.
If one is going to go with aluminum make sure to get anodized aluminum product.
I know made in China isn’t an immediate draw back but….damn it!
The aluminum debate shows how hard it is to get misinformation out of peoples heads. Those myths were busted years ago. Regardless, this looks like a good kettle and I may check it out. It looked like it poured smoothly as well. That’s important to me-
" Those myths were busted years ago. " Wrong. However Anodized aluminum is safe. This shows shows how hard it is to get misinformation out of peoples heads especially people who do not fully understand basic science.
saw some asian girl using a kettle, probably aluminum
in her older videos all the plastic was there then...
the handle melted... then the lid handle melted...
now she has a nut & bolt for a lid handle
yeah, NOT a fan of plastic in cooking stuff
maybe silicone...
and I see more & more cook gear with PLASTIC!
latest is the Zebra Pots with PLASTIC CLIPS! why...?
there's some ultra-lite stuff that has an incredible amount of plastic
but works with the stove it is made for, and only that stove
put it on a fire and it all melts
at home what looks like plastic is bakelite which can burn if you try hard enough
In this case you can remove the silicone handle guard and also the silicone in the cover tab. So, you can put it on a raging fire with nothing that can melt or burn like plastic. The ultra lite gear came for the trend "imposed" by thru hikers. For me this is like trying to normalize and extreme sport or endeavor; like saying that if you aren't using the same gear that a marathon runner uses you can´t enjoy jogging or a run the park or if you don't pee on your pants like they do while running, etc. The same with the thru hiker's mind set, the cooking gear is expected to be used on canisters stoves that have a controlled flame. Nonetheless you can still find gear expected to be used on wood fire, more like on the buschraft theme. The important theme here is to really know you, your skills, your likes and dislikes and the activities you will be doing to reduce the windows of gears that can suit you. Because it's something praised by thru hikers doesn't mean that will work for you and your activities.
Will aluminium kill you? Probably not as much as air does. Every single person and animal that lived and died, breathed air. Ok, some died from not breathing air in the end…. Nice looking kettle 👍
I won't use aluminium, nor will I allow others to tell me that I'm not allowed to talk about subjects that I want to talk about.
Ok.
I was thinking of buying a well known brand of titanium camping kettle a few years ago, priced at £50. I picked it up, noticed a warning code on the bottom, some Californian code warning that the metal contained known carcinogens.
I put it back on the shelf. Last week, I noticed the same brand model of titanium kettle in a camping store, only this time the price had increased to £75. Even less reason to buy it.
Titanium cookware scratches easily and is known for poor heat distribution, causing hot spots and risk of burning food.
Obviously, this will not be such a problem with boiling water but why use a product that might cause health problems at a later date?
That kettle is too small IMO
They make three sizes
You're a wuss if.....LOL! Good one.
I may not be your target audience but...would be nice if you put up metric weights and measurements.
Enjoy your videos being a stove-aholic too
Nice, real nice. BUT …. I’ve got this here Vargo Bot . . . .
HI, YES I HAVE THE SAME KETTLE ITS PERFECT FOR ME. AS A WOMAN I DON’T NEED TO CARRY ALL THAT HEAVY WEIGHT . NO COMPLAINTS FROM ME! 11:23A 4/19/23
700ml kettle? Utterly useless. Just carry a pot! If you’re going to carry a kettle it needs to be bigger than this. What a stupid waste of money. 🤦♂️
the problem is that it is made in CHINA !!!
